  • I've been using this recipe for a while 5 star!! the only things I change is I use green lentils, add one knorr chicken bullion cube, instead of carrots I use a stalk of celery and the cumin I crush myself. If you like your soup thick I do, invest in an immersion blender.

  • wtf! a food processor too!

  • listen man i dont got all those fuckin ingredients, im poor

  • Oh I can't wait to try this. Buying the ingredients this afternoon!!!

  • I just made this soup and I Love the flavor...I have a vitamix blender and I think I blended it too much because it's pretty pasty, but it tastes fantastic anyway! Thanks Alia! <3

  • wow that was easy thank you lol

  • Thanks for not putting any potato! I'm diabetic and can't handle potatoes well, so this is perfect for me! A soup like this customizes well though. One could add spinach, for example!

  • Can I use other types of lentils also, or is it just for red lentils?

    Thanks :)

  • @andreasmith354 You could perhaps try it and find out what happens if you use green ones or yellow ones! In general though, red ones cook up mushier than green ones. But they're being puréed anyway so what difference does it make? :)

  • Thank You so much!! This is Delicious!! Love this type food!!

  • Easy, nutritious, and delicious. Thank you . Love the music too.

  • Thanks for your comment tootnbarb, I was looking for a dish that I can eat to nurse my pancreatitis attack. That was very useful to me since I also have diabetes and am always looking for something to lower my blood sugar.

  • This is my favourite soup. In the Turkish version we add potatoes into.

  • That looks awesome!

  • Thank you so much. An excellent and easy recipe :-)

  • is that garlic or ginger?

  • Should the red lentil have to be be cooked already when i add all the ingredient to the pan?

  • anything i can replace the cumin with?

  • I wish you could taste things over the internet............. at least smell!!!!

  • Short and sweet. I hate long winded and complicated recipes. Perfect! Thanks.

  • =)

  • I just made this soup and I´m eatingit now, It taste delicous

  • I love your recipes! I am preparing this soup for the second time. :)

    Thank you very much!

  • not good .. 1cup lentil , add water , add turmeric and salt , boil for 25 min (use cooker for faster ) ... step 2 - take 1 spoon oil , add cumins , add whole chopped garlic , add chopped green chilies , add 1/2 chopped onion , fry properly .. step 3 mixed both preparation .........add chopped coriander .......no need food processor ... TRY IT ...U will love it :)

  • Easy recipe!!!...The bowl is very nice also !!!

  • I made this last night and it was a HIT! I followed the recipe as best I could since I only had baby carrots and roma tomatoes. I used about a cups worth of chopped carrots and 2 small romas. When I adjusted the spices, I added a bit of marjoram as well as a bit more pepper and garlic because we like things with a kick at my place. 5 stars!

  • Question! atfer processing 2:35ish, do you keep the water in the pot for the soup or just the thicker processed stuff?

  • Red lentil soup is very popular and is eaten very often in Turkey. Is it also popular in Morocco?

  • I loved the recipe until you put it all in the blender. Pureed soup will go right through you.

  • Thank you for the video!

  • can you make lentil soup without onions? i hate onions.. Thank you

  • Can chicken or beef stock be a substitute for water?

  • best soup for me , and lastly a nice squeeze of lime

  • Looks good but I don't have a food processor.

    Would a blender do?

  • @tcuk

definitely, blender would do. not sure how powerful you blender is - just make sure to blend small quantities at a time, so you get a good texture.

  • very easy my husband loves it....

  • lovely soup beautiful smile and full stomach what else?

  • thank you for your sweet comment :-)

  • @cookingwithalia tbarkllah alik

  • hi alia nice and easy recipe.. may i ask what coutry are u from?

  • I am from Morocco :-)

  • what does 'minzed' garlic mean ??? does it mean it was made in to small pieces ? or it was crushed or is it a ype of garlic...? thank you ( i'm not english / american)

  • 'minced garlic' is just garlic that you cut in very little pieces. 'mince' is the verb for cutting things in very small pieces.

  • thank you very much ...it's kind of embarrassing i dindn't know......haha liked your soup a lot by the way

  • Hey Alia ...I was wondering can you put out there some recepies for sandwiches and quick meals...I have to make my lunch for the next day everyday and take it with me to work ..so I need help with ur amazing recepeies ;) ..thankkks

  • This sounds great i'm looking forward to trying it.

I invented a new soup for dinner earlier, i made the broth with 1 1/2 cups of tomato juice and 1 1/2 cups water then made some of that dollar store onion soup mix and put a cup of that in there.

Then i added some spices and put about a cup of lentils and a diced potato in and boiled it until the lentils and potato pieces were tender.

It was AWESOME and i'm sure this will be too. ;-)

  • i eat my lentil soup with dates

  • salaam alia,

what i like is that your soups are so simple to make - no frying onions and adding in different stages.

a great help for me as a beginner who wants wholesome but tasty foods.

    ps. the harira was excellent!

  • thanks for the recipe. You might want to use an immersion blender. It's a lot easier to blend the soup in the pot than to put the soup in the food processor.
