  • Hi, Arthur. Guess what? ND lost again! Don't you ever get tired of losing?

  • Jealousy is an uneviable trait

  • look at the diags!

    correct response: what diags??

this band has a good sound but im not the biggest fan. good pregame though

  • No wonder so many great HS players want to play there, this is Awsume. I am ready to run through a wall lol

  • Hi, Arthur. ND is really awful. Sorry.

  • why is there mascot the fighting irish if the name notre dame is french for our lady (the holy virgin mary) go irish

  • your a joke. You know nothing of marching band i bet.

  • this game was the week after sept 11 it was weird i still remember watching the flag move down to half hast. crazy

  • All I'm going to say is when ND becomes good...the idiot ND fans who put them down cannot cheer. When you are an ND fan, you have to support the team regardless. Real fans stick by the Fighting Irish through winning and losing.

We'll beat USC in the near future...with far inferior talent...we almost beat them in South Bend. The talent is coming in and they are hungry...

    GO IRISH

  • Are you stupid? ND lost to Matt Leinart at the game in South Bend on a last second QB sneak. The last game played in South Bend ND got crushed...38-0....

As mentioned again....if USC beats ND like 16 more times in a row....that only TIES the series...which we both know won't happen! ND is improving and they will beat USC in the coming years....

    Go Irish.....

  • Isn't Leinart riding the pine in Arizona?

  • When notre dame went to hawii the kicked some major ass

  • The ND band is better than the football team. However, as the world knows, the USC SPIRIT OF TROY marching is far superior.

  • looks like someone's getting nervous about the appearance of the Band of the Fighting Irish at the coliseum

  • Why don't you just stay home? Send us a tape or CD and we'll take a look at it.

  • The trojan fans already gave The Band of the Fighting Irish a standing ovation. Your support and admiration is truly appreciated.

  • How many members does this band have? what is the cost a year for ND marching band? anyone know?

  • i think there are around 380 members now, if you go to notre dame, st marys, or holy cross you can play in the band,

i dont think there is a cost, i think the university pays for its expenses like travel, music, uniforms, etc.

  • It costs $2.39 to fund the ND band for one year.

  • boy what a discount! so many people want to hear them play that the band members don't have to pay as much,

i heard that the USC band had to have fundraisers and all just so they could come to south bend, i guess no one wants to pay to listen to them play, and i don't blame them, i wouldn't pay a thing to listen to a band play only 2 songs for 3 hours

  • are you kidding me? we (the usc band) gets about a million dollars a year in donations. that's how band members don't have to pay for anything at all...uniforms, instruments, food, transportation, hotels.

oh, and if you don't want to hear us play 2 songs for 3 hours, you should stop losing!

    FIGHT ON! BEAT THE irish!!!

  • Our band is OK, but the USC Spirit of Troy marching band is a lot better.

  • Nope. They can't march for crap.

  • You're joking, right? USC kicked our ass, during the four quarters and at half-time! To tell you the truth, it was a little intimidating.

  • I saw alot of lines that were severely wavy from the end zone last time I watched the Spirit of Troy. They definitely sounded better than they looked, but not to an extent that was impressive.

  • you're not even an actual notre dame fan, you're just a usc fan just like "usc38nd0" disguising yourself as a notre dame fan

  • What? No way! USC's bands is one of the worst I've seen. I've seen Notre Dame's and USC's and many others (live) and USC definitely has one of the worst bands...Besides, USC's fans are not real fans, USC is filled with bandwagon fans. By the way, I'm not a Notre Dame fan, so I'm not showing any favoritism.

  • honestly, the usc band only knows how play 2 songs, fight on and spirit of troy, thats ALL they play. i worked concession stands @ the nd/usc game last year and we were in the usc section and we could hear the usc band. their band came in as soon as the gates opened, and from then until kickoff, they only played 2 songs

    fight on

    &

    spirit of troy

at least notre dame adds some variety

    GO IRISH!

  • Goooooo Irish!

    Loooose to TROJANS (again).

  • love thee Notre Dame!

celebrating 100 years (1908-2008) of the Greatest of ALL university fight songs, The Notre Dame Victory March!!!

    Go IRISH!

  • I love Notre Dame

  • Most people do.

It's hard to like a bunch of phony baloney Irish Catholic hypocrites. In L.A., we tell all the Moms to keep their kids at home when ND comes to town.

  • you oughta know

  • Lmao you got em there :)

  • @uscbeatnd , Jealous much? Cheat on! Fight no!

  • @airzee33 We really don't have a lot of "jealously" for a bunch of Irish Catholic Homosexual Pedophiles from South Bend, IN. But you can believe that if you want to . . . you are ND.

  • we do march out from the golden dome to the stadium so if you need the music and it won't fit in your pocket, there seems to be no other option for you.

  • BUT to address the comment of the person before my posts more specifically... it was enforced this year that no one should have music on the field during pregame unless it's the other team's fight song, because we should know those songs. BUT in the event that a person needs their half-time music and it won't fit in their inside pocket of their uniform, where else does it go? on their instrument until after the pregame show when they can remove until half time.

  • True we should have all of our school songs memorized, but not everyone does. especially not new members or freshmen at the beginning of the year. they could give us chair tests, but

    A. that would be inconvenient because the band has nearly 400 people in it; and

    B. it would take away from the comradery we develop amongst ourselves and esp. within the individual sections.

  • fall 2 0 0 7:

THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME MARCHING BAND!

Celebrating its 162nd year and 120th football season, America's FIRST University band!

Also celebrating the centennial (1908-2008) of the greatest of all university fight songs: THE NOTRE DAME VICTORY MARCH!!!!

And now here it is... THE BAND OF THE FIGHTING IRISH!!!

    WE ARE ND!

  • FUCK USC

  • Look who it is again!

  • Gloat while you can!! It won't last? BTW, what is going to happen to Bush's trophy??

  • It seems the "Irish Catholic people" of the University of Notre Dame are prone to act as judge, jury, and executioner in this matter. In America, however (meaning outside the city limits of South Bend, IN), Reggie Bush is innocent until proven guilty. You must have some evidence (aside from what you have read in the press). Perhaps you should bring that evidence forward, while we Google every single ND football player since the Birth of Christ, to see if we can uncover any acts of impropriety.

  • Nice try. My statements are based on information that has been publicly reported by REPUTABLE investigative journalists. Your attempt to use the "Irish Catholic people " crap is just that--crap. It will be interesting to see the comments from the USC nation if USC ends up losing the NC for 2005. The fact that these allegations have even been made to the extent they have about Southern California's "premier private university" is sad, isn't it??

  • According to Atheist, you don't exist.

  • i love this band! they are the VERY BEST. i don't care what people say about flip folders. it's the directors decision, and that's that

  • Nothing like actually going to the games. Love it.

  • USC=piece of shit...

get 11 national championships you ass clown

  • USC > Notre Dame

  • Notre Dame is the best fucking school in the intire country...you would have to be a fool not to like them

  • why the big flap over flips! I know for a fact that Dr. Dye, ND's band director, mandates them. It's his decision, they do as he wishes. I don't GET the impilcation that ND band members can't or don't memorize music, nor do I think the flippin folders look tacky. ENOUGH about it, already! :)

  • fyi, penn state does use flip folders. using them for halftime is one thing, but when you play the same pregame show every single week? how can you not have that memorized? plus it looks really tacky.

and the black college bands don't have as great of sound as the big schools, IMO, so i would prefer to watch a Notre Dame or Michigan band any day.

  • i dont think they can go into the stadium until the pregame, so carring them on their instruments makes sence

  • I agree about the flip folders. It's extremely tacky to be looking at music while you're playing your own school's fight song. You should be able to memorize your fight song.

  • as a member of the notre dame marching band i know that because we do a new show every week and we have high academic standards we must comply with as a student of the university itself, we are not required to memorize our music for half-time shows, however some of us do.

  • Texas A&M has a better marching band.

  • Oh...ic...thanks for the head's up...But I haver seen both in person many time and I do not agree...one's preference in bands might be much like one's prference in schools, and I am not big on the pseudo-military look.

  • no way, notre dame is the best, texas a&m sucks, damn southern

  • Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State don'y use flip folders? ALL THE MORE REASON TO USE THEM THEN!

  • I know for sure that Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State don't use flip folders. I think flip folders are rarely used from what I've seen.

  • A college band with music stands on their instruments???

  • Do you find this to be some sort of "defect?" When was the last time you saw a symphony orchestra play "from memory!?"

  • VERY COMMON in schools in the Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC. Only schools I KNOW that don't use flip folders are HBCU (black schools). Keep in mind...you have 350 people which maybe only 75 are music majors...it happens.

  • hbcu schools arent the only ones who dont use flipfolders. missouri state university has memorized every piece of music, every season for at least the past 25 years. 300 something members and very few music majors.

  • not bad... but you should expect more sound from a band this size.

  • you wouldn't say that if you'd ever seen them

  • bull, i've seen lots of bands, and lots of videos. this is not impressive.

  • say what you want. You wouldn't last a day in this band or mine.

  • because you know so much about my ability.

  • well u gotta remember this was recorded at the top the stadium and notre dame stadium can get very loud so the sound can get toned out by the crowd

  • You guys are the best band I've seen. I'm a Tennessee trumpet player, and I was very impressed when I saw you guys at home in '05. Your class, integrity, tradition, and honor is something everyone should strive for. I hope to see your band again soon.

  • Notre Dame is fucking amazing. I'm probably going to UW in Seattle though but I admire the rich tradition of ND. It's also a really competitive school to get into. They have a great football program. Nice video.
