  • THAT IS A COPY OF MELBOURNES LUNA PARK SCENIC RAILWAY!

  • the best ride in Margate is the road out of it , what a horrible place

  • This video clip as brought back some very fond memories, as my cousins used to work in dreamland in the late 1970's and early 1980's I used to know most of the fairground workers & especially the two Guys that worked on the Scenic Railway & who used to have to walk the scenic Railway track everyday....Also the father & son who owned the dodgems....I have photos of us all somewhere, must dig em out ....RIP Dreamland u are deeply missed.....We have heard it will be reopened in 2012..Lets just see!

  • i always wanted the job of the dude sat on the brake lever seat

  • The old girl will be up and running sooner than you think. It has just been announced that the Government has awarded 3.7 million pounds towards the rebuilding of the Dreamland Heritage Park.

  • Let's hope it will be fixed! It is part of Margate's history!

  • I remember going to Margate at only 3 years old and enjoying the rides there, and my last ride on this rollercoaster was back when I was 10 (13 now)

Good memories... shame it's gone =(

  • I used to enjoy Dreamland too. There were some great rides in the old days - including a house that turned upside down!

  • @storinge don't you worry, they're rebuilding that as well, ur talking bout the haunted swing, right?

  • We might see the old girl operating again soon in the form of a Heritage Park. It would be lovely to see the old pier re built but the cost would run into millions. To get Dreamland Amusement Park open again would be a Dream in itself.

  • That looked like a cool ride, long as well. Sad someone had to burn it down. Was either some punk firebug kids, Or a developer wanted to get rid of it somehow as it was protected, so had someone set fire to it. Or a past disgruntled employee. Anyone who wants to set fire to a historic relic like that, deserves karma to strike them back and their own home burning to the ground. Never rode this, live in the US, in PA, 160 miles from Leap The Dips, 107 years old. Worlds oldest running coaster.

  • Yes, it was a great ride, and a fantastic funfair in its time! We will probably never know how it caught fire and burnt down. The structure was supposed to be protected and Thanet Council should be ashamed of themselves for allowing Dreamland to be dismantled.

  • when did the fire break out?

  • It happened on 7 April 2008.

  • Thanks I love and miss Margate , I moved here in 1982. I worked for the Bembom Brothers at the Dream machines Arcade for 6 years 1989/1995 and will never forget the great memorys and all the friends made. Gods sake Thanet Council wake up and scrap the Arts then rebuild the old Pier, then remake the Classic Theme Park and change all the Arcades into Classic Arcades too, 10p/ 20p a go machines.A huge Swimming pool by the sea front. Refresh winter Gardens and create Cheap day breaks. Forever Joe.

  • k montaña rusa mas fome !!! menos mal k se kemo jakjakaj.

  • Dreamland was kick ass back in its day when I was a kid... So many good memories. The town is a mess let alone the theme park, I cant remember the last time we had good weather let alone any good place to go!

  • it was amazing but there was a person in the way

  • heard the news of the fire but been away in USA, checked youtube to see video as Margate played a big part of my life while growing up, then watched this one and was amazed to see the 2 people sitting in the front seat are my sister and nephew and the guy behind them in the white T shirt is a family friend. How spooky is that. Anyway sad to see the railway destroyed, in fact sad to watch dreamland fall apart over the last 20 odd years.

  • jamieahmt - when I took this video a few years ago(before YouTube existed) it was just intended to be a visual record, something to remind me of the good old days! After the fire happened, I thought I would share it with others who also have fond memories of the Scenic Railway. I hope it's also a good memory for your sister and nephew! They were in front of me in the queue - so got the front seat!

  • Note of interest: See the fire extinguisher at 1:41

  • its with a heavy heart, watching this video. but a happy one. i had many happy days at dreamland, in the late 60s 70s and 80s. a part of my life, spent at margate. long may its memory survive.

  • Happiness for what we had, with a twinge of sadness for what we have lost. Such is life!

  • This is how I remember it when I used to ride it :)

  • This is how I remember it when I used to ride it :)

  • Thanks themeparkfan! I've seen your collection of roller coaster vids. Very impressive! Many people will have happy memories of Dreamland's Scenic Railway.

  • HOPE THEY CAN REBUILD IT

  • We must all put pressure on Thanet Council to make sure it IS rebuilt! Join the campaign!

  • It's not totally gone - and there are plans for a rebuild.

    See SAVE DREAMLAND website.

  • Let's hope it is rebuilt! It's a listed building and an important part of Margate's heritage. However, it will depend on Thanet Council's resolve to protect the site from developers. So far, Thanet Council's track record of protecting Dreamland has been pathetic. Restoring the Scenic Railway must be a firm condition before allowing any other development on the site, as well as retaining substantial space for other fairground attractions.

  • wow your realy lucky you got a ride before the fir

    when was this...?

  • Yes, I was very lucky to ride many times! This was filmed back in 2002, but after the recent fire I thought I'd share the video. This ride has been very popular since it first opened in 1920, so here's a chance to look at it again. It's an important part of Margate's history.

  • i know but it was 88 years old

    i was a landmark

i don't no why people do that kind of fing

never mind thanx for commenting back

  • You're right, it was a landmark! Of all the fantastic rides at Dreamland when it was still a proper funfair, this is probably the one people will remember (and miss) the most.

  • i sertainly will

i amonly twelve but i remember it running properly like that

    i will never forget it

  • They don't make them like that anymore - the video or the rollercoaster.

  • No they don't make rollercoasters like that any more! This one (88 years old) was made of wood.
