Hey Psy, been watching all your vids and just watched the next one which apologizes for this silent one and i figured i should comment because I really liked your philosophy for this vid. First, i noticed most of the things everyone else did except i thought it was a real phoenix till reading the comments and watching a 2nd time. To improve this video you could have a very brief narrative at the beginning to explain everything you said about using your brain. (continue in next post)
Next I realy loved this because the entire time I'm screaming at you in my head saying, why aren't you expanding creep and making a second and third base. Then finally at the end I figured two things either this wasn't you playing or it was a friendly game just to see how op ling/bangling drop is when no ling rush is posible early game. Anyways, myself I would like a silent video like this once in a while just better gameplay, lol.
i liked it, it was interesting, but your income was in the toilet the whole game. I think your chances would have been very good if that nydus would have pooped banelings instead of lings and you distracted his army with an overlord in sac the other side of his base...
so unfortunate that last drop. He looked like he was ahead, but i think he really tried to stay on one base for way too long. If he had expanded a lot sooner i think he would have been able to get more than just b/lings. Clearly the protoss was turtling and a really good strat would have been to go mutas as soon as you see that wall of stuff at the choke of his natural b/c harassing mutas really keep the toss from expanding and getting an econ advantage off 2 base. that's my judgement.
@jakehr3 well the toss did sorta open with pheonix and i dont think it'll be too difficult for him to churn out more pheonix to deal with the muta's... was wondering why he didnt kill the overlords with the pheonix's though?
@valhala89 I know this is a really old game/comment, but the Phoenix were hallucinated for scouting - although the did make the Overlord pooping creep for the Nydus and Baneling Nest move away. If Psy hadn't noticed and put his Overlords back in position, the hallucinations would've destroyed two tech buildings :D
I really liked the silent commentary thing, but i thought you played rather poorly.
In paticular, I think you should have expanded a long time ago, especially when you knew he was walling off his natural.
Also, the nydus canal has uses outside of harass. It isn't as useful for mobilization when you are using lings, but I've found just having a nydus near their base is very useful when mobilizing, and makes hydra's almost viable.

However, I don't think it would be a mistake to post a silent one every once in a while. Maybe have two separate versions - one without commentary (to be watched first) and then the same video with commentary to see what the viewer noticed and missed.

Nice mineral trick in the beginning, other than that a fail game, no offense, but you did not play well that game. And your opponent relied to much on gateway units w/o any tech. High Templar or collosus would have pwned for them.
@ValidlD yes i know that but there is no SOUND when he is tunneling under. he only does the screeching noise, when he actually pops up. when the worm had vision of the area, i noticed the pylon which basically say the worm and said "yo probes come over"
@R0773N That how it works if you lose the tech building, not the pathways you build... what if you built more than one worm (which happens often)? What units would die in that situation?
@pastapopcorn I'm a newb aswell, but I've greatly improved my game (just got into Silver) by watching Psy's, husky's and my own replays. Don't forget to repeat that first built order against an AI (to be left alone). Good luck :)

Too bad about the loss. Was a good game to watch regardless. I like how carpet bombing the banelings seems to be on the rise. It's a good play. What lost you this game, I would say, is the passive stance you seemed to take. Still, nicely played.

@Sinani201 I have always hated the cheese-like games. In SC2 its worse it seems. Especially when you see these asshats who are in platinum league and have only 40 games logged but because they cheese every time, they just get lucky. My frined did it with toss with the cannon rushes and pylon warps and he won 5 out of 5 for his qualification matches adn he was in platinum league for about 65 games until he got owned by people who deserve to be in those leagues. cheese ruins this game imo

Nowhere near Toss' caster and terran doesn't really get anything speacial. Maybe the expansions hold something new for us.

As much as I like you and your commentaries, i think THIS game didn't show your best skills... at around 5 minutes, why didn't you place a diversion worm to lure his forces and ran your serglings through the front? At 11:10 you had banelings right below his forces, yet you decide to save them for later? You let a toss have an expansion more then you? I know baneling play is one base play, but c'mon...
DOPE. fuck the haters, i loved this. especially seeing everything in first person. game was awesome too. lings can surround the stalkers, and banelings can kill the zealots. mistake was sitting around too long. about half way through i thought it was gonna go toss because you let him pull a 2nd base (and at some point, a THIRD!)
dont 100% agree with IHavePLAH, but i do on most points.
the silent cast was very different and educational, but what i think would make it absolutely fantastic is a commentated summary after the game, or a run back on fatal mistakes/brilliant moments which won/lost you the game. for less experienced players, they may have no idea why u lost that game and seeing GG was a surprise to them.
I'm not really sure I like watching someone else's play without commentary. And if someone really doesn't want to hear the commentary, they can just mute the video. Though I'm not really sure why anyone wouldn't want to hear your awesome commentary.
When I saw you loading up drones into the Nydus worm, I thought, "Oh cool, he might go for an early Gold expo." But then I realized it was just an all-in strat :(

@Supanova7G The Phoenix was an Hallucination spawned via the Sentry. That's why no overlords died to it. The Protoss player just used it for scouting.
As I diamond level toss player I can't say I ever recall building a single voidray vs zerg, not to say it won't ever become viable but you don't want to design a lot of strats around VR vs zerg, hydras and mutas own them, then you throw in a queens and its really just not worth it
man, it hurts to see a 1 base zerg try to contain a 2/3 base toss w/o keeping good vision of the map. I love you Psy, but give the cutsey stuff a break and macro a bit more.
Actually, I kinda like this video. It makes it easier for me to see exactly how you're building without the distractions of commentary and jumping back and forth between players.

Hey Psy, what method did you use to drop the units from the overlords as they were moving (@ time 12min42sec)?
As far as I am aware, there are two methods of dropping units:
1) Pressing the 'unload' command and clicking a location, and
2) Pressing the unload command and clicking on the overlord itself so that it drops while it's moving.
However, I'm not sure if it's possible to simultaneously command 5 overlords to unload units as they are moving. Is that what you did?

I like the seeing the player cam, seeing that helps a lot.
But the Toss player really had some interesting strategies. A commentary would have been nice to see/hear.
If you have any big macro games, these types of vids will do nicely, very educational

I'm not really sure why people use their workers for such super-early scouting on 1v1 maps.
"Oh, he's spawning a pool and gas, I could not have foreseen that!"
At least wait 2 minutes so you can get some actually useful info.
That aside, it's just not the same without you yelling at the cat.

@cubandarknez True enough, but that harvester you just used to scout means less income, so you put yourself at an early disadvantage.

@Denamic better to be at a slight disadvantage than to lose a game lol, and anyways, most of the time your build works even without the "extra" worker.

@Denamic Dude you need to see if what number count they built their pool, if they build a hatch before pool, if they are going gas and pool... all these things are huge

are you serious about the scouting?
ESPECIALLY on 1v1 maps if you scout early you can see:
5drones + pool = 6pool
1pylon + forge = cannon rush
low scv + gas + hidden barracks? = proxy reaper
they're more popular on 1v1 maps because you know where your opponent is, that's why you scout..

@Sinani201 I have always hated the cheese-like games. In SC2 its worse it seems. Especially when you see these asshats who are in platinum league and have only 40 games logged but because they cheese every time, they just get lucky. My frined did it with toss with the cannon rushes and pylon warps and he won 5 out of 5 for his qualification matches adn he was in platinum league for about 65 games until he got owned by people who deserve to be in those leagues. cheese ruins this game imo

@Sinani201 although I am no where near skilled enough to micro zerg unless I am against a noob lol but I really hate zerg.they have the most straight forward strategies and their casters are decent. Nowhere near Toss' caster and terran doesn't really get anything speacial. Maybe the expansions hold something new for us.

@Madhofd he's top 100 in N. America, but being "Pro" is really about first being 'accepted' into major tournaments, so being pro is first more about being known, then about being able to play

As much as I like you and your commentaries, i think THIS game didn't show your best skills... at around 5 minutes, why didn't you place a diversion worm to lure his forces and ran your serglings through the front? At 11:10 you had banelings right below his forces, yet you decide to save them for later? You let a toss have an expansion more then you? I know baneling play is one base play, but c'mon...

DOPE. fuck the haters, i loved this. especially seeing everything in first person. game was awesome too. lings can surround the stalkers, and banelings can kill the zealots. mistake was sitting around too long. about half way through i thought it was gonna go toss because you let him pull a 2nd base (and at some point, a THIRD!)

dont 100% agree with IHavePLAH, but i do on most points.
the silent cast was very different and educational, but what i think would make it absolutely fantastic is a commentated summary after the game, or a run back on fatal mistakes/brilliant moments which won/lost you the game. for less experienced players, they may have no idea why u lost that game and seeing GG was a surprise to them.

I'm not really sure I like watching someone else's play without commentary. And if someone really doesn't want to hear the commentary, they can just mute the video. Though I'm not really sure why anyone wouldn't want to hear your awesome commentary.

@Supanova7G The Phoenix was an Hallucination spawned via the Sentry. That's why no overlords died to it. The Protoss player just used it for scouting.

As I diamond level toss player I can't say I ever recall building a single voidray vs zerg, not to say it won't ever become viable but you don't want to design a lot of strats around VR vs zerg, hydras and mutas own them, then you throw in a queens and its really just not worth it
