Great Video! Thanks for making it. I've been going to WDW since the 70's and when they changed the Tiki Room I was very dissapointed. This is not the best way to experience the Tiki room but I would rather watch this video then visit the Tiki room at WDW.
Again, thanks for the video! It's fun to relive the good times at the tiki tiki tiki room :-)
Thank you so much for putting these up. Your videos are a joy to watch. I haven't been back to Disney since 1988 and these videos bring back wonderful memories!
I Remember this attraction from when I was 12 and first saw it, and I never forgot it. I never new that theRe was such a thing like bird of Paradices, and now every time I see one I think " enchanted tiki room". Thanks for the video.
thanks for uploading. this attraction is often overlooked. it's cool that they have kept it in the park. it is a good rest area w/show to get out of the heat and long lines. I do so miss the country bear jamboree though. they still have the three heads above the doorway in the winney the poo adventure !!
I saw this at Disney Land in '69 and found it profoundly disturbing. I ended up working for Disney later and found them to be horrible and evil. Wow, could I tell you some stories. Thank you for posting. My French spouse was forwarded this clip. Disney Land and Expo '67 with Monsanto's display in the American Pavillion were just about the most horrific experiences of my life, besides growing up in the Rust Belt. I had to leave the USA. I just couldn't take all this crud!
@CuteCatFaith I have the hall of chemistry Monsanto booklet from opening week at disneyland, 1955. it was my father and aunts. hopefully you can now go to disneyland, france!! hahahahaha, I also worked there in anaheim.
@kdj29 Cool! Disneyland France fires its gay employees so I have a problem with going there, but I have been watching them closely since '94. The colors they used were all wrong for the climate here.
@CuteCatFaith so strange that they fire their gay employees in France. In anaheim they almost want you to be gay to work there. when i worked there, i knew over a dozen gay's that worked there and there were alot more.
@kdj29 This was my experience in the '90s and the early part of this century. Perhaps they have changed? I dunno. My first fiancé was up for a career with them and the employee handbook was scary. No rings allowed except for wedding and class, no facial hair and NO GAYS.
@kdj29 My first fiancé tried to join them in the late '70s. He was flown from NY to Florida and they ripped off his idea for interactive video. It was made very clear he needed to be the Eagle Scout he was, but they stole his idea and let him go cuz he had had a brief nervous breakdown after he got his college degree. The employee guidebook he showed me in '79 was so spooky. I monkey wrenched Disney in Europe, decades later. It was not related to this.
@kdj29 When I worked at The Chicago Pizza Pie Factory in Paris in 1994 and 1995, they had this worker who had been with Disney and had been fired for being gay. He was a terrible bully and they promoted him for that, he learned bullying and reproduced it, but the company no longer exists. I think his name was Anton or something. I think he was Australian. It was all very sad.
@DisneyIsAwesome55 YES! YouTube finally gave the power to the people to shape Disney World. I hope this is a trend. That way we can bring the orignal Journey Into Immagination back too.
Ah, this is candy to my eyes (or in this case dole whip) and music to my ears. Especially since I was just watching the 'Under new Management' version a few minutes ago. Ick.
Hey Everyone, the just renovated and re-did the Enchanted Tiki Room, and it is back to the original. I guess Disney paid attention to the fact that EVERYONE hated the updated version!
love this room, and i love the pinapple drinks they sold outside, good god, best thing of my child hood was to go in this cool breezed room and watch the plants on the walls talk and sing to the birds
God how i miss old disney world and old disney rides, the new ones, and “refurbished” ones are just not magical to me. i am so mad, and heartbroken they got rid of the old rides and shows, why couldn't they just build new stuff elsewhere, like in another state!
I love this show so much! I got the Disneyland CD so I know all the words to the opening song like a proud nerd should. :P I went for my 16th birthday, and now am going back in a couple of weeks for my 18th. :D
if this was the first show to feature audio anamatronics... but the jungle cruise was an opening day attraction. so did the jungle cruise have anamatronics or just statues? PLEASE ANSWER!
@LEGOMaster56 I don't actually know for a fact, so this is just an assumption - The Jungle Cruise incorporated animatronics, but were not really audio-animatronics. All the sounds came from speakers around in the brush. I don't know if that's how all animatronics work or if the Jungle Cruise converted over to the new technology. This was just my first idea. :/

I don't mind adding Johnny Dep to the Pirates but when they tampered with the sacred Tiki room that was Taboo. They have destroyed the submarine ride. No one can match Walt's genious. they only downgrade, very sad.

While enjoying this video i remembered that my 4yr old cousin Ava is deathly afraid of birds (no one knows why, she always has been) so i just could just imagine the what effect this might have on her. 1) it might cure her of her phobia seeing the colorful singing and talking birds or 2) traumatize her for life by seeing the colorful singing and talking birds.lol She'd probably order her grandma to "shoosh" the birds away.lol

Oh my goodness do I miss the original this! They changed this completely in Walt Disney World, so sad! And now it is closed cause it caught fire a few weeks ago. My opinion they need to bring it back to the original. I don't deal with change very well and this was one of my favorites as a child, this and it's a small world. Thank you for having this so I could enjoy it, makes me a happy and sad at the same time.
We lived near Disney World when I was a little kid and I got to go for my birthday several times. The Tiki Room was one of my favorites. I wonder if all that stuff with the Hawaiian gods influenced my decision to become an anthropologist?
brings back memories of my family going when i was little cant wait to bring my boys there lol... my dad would sing so loud along when we went lol ... so embarrassing NOW ITS MY TURN lol
I told Aussiemarco that I was going to get a pin of this ride, because it was 1 of my favorites since childhood. It is a pin for my lanyard. NOT for my sweater. Just to let you know.
ahhhh yes I remember this. I was about....6 I think? when my family last went to Disneyland. We could never afford Disneyworld nor could we afford it now (or Disneyland for that matter) Haven't been there since 2003. So that would be 7 years. Sheesh. Too long lol.
Memories. They were wonderful ^.^ My dad recorded The Tiki Room on his camera and I should watch it again some time again.
@mah81164 Really? What kind of camera did your dad use? Was it legal to use it? I saw it at both 5 and 9 years old with my parents. My dad says that it is lame.
@mermaidamp I asked my dad about it right now (since he's not working today) and he says he doesn't know lol. I don't think the Tiki Room is lame. But it might of changed since I haven't been there in a long time :P I've heard that the Tiki Room for Disneyworld is stupid but I haven't been there so I don't know lol. Hmm...I should maybe think about uploading the video my dad recorded on a different account.... :D I'll let you know if I do upload it and what the account name is :)

I'm confused by everyone saying they want the old version back. We just got back from Disneyland a few days ago, and this was the version of the show we saw. Maybe they brought the original back? Not sure, as I haven't been to Disneyland in 15 years, but it was great to find this video. You did an awesome job with this! We always used to go to Disneyland as kids and always went to this attraction--it was my dad's favorite! Thanks for the great memories!
We just got back from Disney World of course we went to the Tiki Room there was wan't even a line to get in. When I went back in the late 70s I had to wait almost an hour to get in. The new version is terrible. I told my wife you have to go to youtube if you want to see the original. Thank you so much for posting this.
@fizzletto3 Oh crap now my wife is gonna drag my ass to Anaheim... She says we've gotta take the grandkids when they get a little older so I have a few years to work on an excuse to get out of that. I'm all disneyed out.
@krammit69 - agree 100% (new show sucks) the original show is at Disneyland CA and you can still see it there. It's our tradition to go to the Tiki Room as the FIRST and LAST attractions for our family. Hope they keep it there forever.
One year ago, I went and is the best show I have seen, I haven´t words how to describe, how I feel and I glad that the show don´t change a lot for people don´t have the oportunity to watch it few years ago, I look it in some old videos from this page.

@krammit69 The Tiki Birds at Disney World has been closed since January due to a fire. Rumor has it that the Iago character was burned to a crisp and the tiki goddess was ruined by the sprinklers and both have been removed. It looks very promising that the original show will be returning soon. Keep your fingers crossed.
@cancerman50 and the other people discussing the original show coming back to Disney World- it's still not official that the original show is coming back, though all signs are pointing that way. All we know for sure is that they were originally planning to re-open it in march (the fire was in late january) but they've now pushed it back twice, and they're currently saying it will re-open in august.
@krammit69 Announced today, due to a fire that occurred in the Tiki Room Under New Management at Walt Disney World in January of 2011, the attraction will be returned to its original 1971 status.
@Sorria86 we THINK although it could end up being a copy of the one shown here ( i don't THINK the Original Florida version was edited like Disneyland's was
@krammit69 I have good news! I just came back from DisneyWorld and the Tiki Room had the imagineer wall around it! I got excited and asked a few cast members if the original show was returning, and they said yes! They heard the voices of the people and are correcting their mistake! ^^
@krammit69@krammit69 I just saw on allears.net that they have soft openings of the re-furbished tiki room, and htey have gone back to the original show.
@supermj789 What do you mean the Original? When I first went to disney this was the version I saw. Did they add or take something away? (Note: im not that old)
@cutedogface7585 oh, srry i should have been more specific haha, at disney world orlando, they added iago and zazu to the show and just completely messed it up
These were the things I wanted to take home with me when I went to the parks. One time I went home, never having sculpted anything in my life. I got some Sculpey, and made a tiny copy of pele. Since then I've done much larger tiki pieces for my yard, but this is where it all starts for me. Awesome video. Thank you.
You've captured more in this video than you can see sitting in the actual Tiki Room. Amazing job. I've bought some of your dvd's and I'm sure I'll love them.
The Tiki room area is still the bomb. Dont forget the outside area. The only thing missing is rum for the pineapple juice, because when this show starts its pretty trippy. I was just there two days ago. Rongo rules. "I got time for sport. I fly kite. Me number one kite flyer" <---pretty impressive...the lyrics for the Tiki song are here: disneylandreportdotcom/Disney-Lyrics/the-tiki-tiki-tiki-room-lyrics
Great filming...Ahhh...The Tiki Room is one of my most cherished memories and favorite attraction when I first visited Disney World around 9yrs old - I was truly "enchanted" by it all. Always loved the lightning part -- what an easy to do -- yet very special cool effect for a kid at that time. The animatronics was so amazing to me. I'm now 51. I really enjoyed this video. Thnx for the upload. Aloha from Hawaii......really :)
@nuttyginger1 - Disney allows video cameras on most all of their rides. If they do not want a video camera they will say so at the beginning of the show/ride.
thanks for this. I went 1 time in the rain, and it was the first and only time on this. Wondered why I had not before, it was nice, (we actually went on all indoor rides, still have a disneyland poncho somewhere)
Did U All Know U Can Buy "In The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" Song @ iTunes For A Dollar? Disney Put It On Their "Disney's Greatest, Vol 3" CD Which Is On iTunes As Well.
Saw this last year on my 42nd birthday. It was my first time being at Disneyland in 32 years, and I felt like a kid again. What an awesome, magical place. :)
Saw this when I was 6 or 7....then again like 3 years ago when I took some family to a Microsoft sponsored meeting in Disney Resorts.... :) Great show.
The song, "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" was heard on the Disney Sing Along Songs VHS, "Fun With Music," but it was also heard on the UK version of "Colors of the Wind."
reminds me of when we went as a kid great memeries ty crying happy tears watching this in memeory of my grandfather

I don't know which song is more annoying. "In the Tiki Room", or the song from "It's A Small World" ride.

Thanks for uploading this wonderful video :)
mah81164 1 year ago
@mah81164 Really? What kind of camera did your dad use? Was it legal to use it? I saw it at both 5 and 9 years old with my parents. My dad says that it is lame.
mermaidamp 1 year ago
@mermaidamp I asked my dad about it right now (since he's not working today) and he says he doesn't know lol. I don't think the Tiki Room is lame. But it might of changed since I haven't been there in a long time :P I've heard that the Tiki Room for Disneyworld is stupid but I haven't been there so I don't know lol. Hmm...I should maybe think about uploading the video my dad recorded on a different account.... :D I'll let you know if I do upload it and what the account name is :)

Is/was this outside pre-show also on the Florida Version?
MrMorganOBrien 1 year ago

@krammit69 - My pleasure, I am glad I could have it here for her to see.

@ru42 hey now they restored it to the original version after a fire destroyed Lago in the New Version

@krammit69 The Disneyland version has never changed, in case you didn't know. WDW has the new version.
disneygrab1 1 year ago
@krammit69 Well, you could just go to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. They've still got the original one there.
fizzletto3 1 year ago
@fizzletto3 Oh crap now my wife is gonna drag my ass to Anaheim... She says we've gotta take the grandkids when they get a little older so I have a few years to work on an excuse to get out of that. I'm all disneyed out.
krammit69 1 year ago
@krammit69 - agree 100% (new show sucks) the original show is at Disneyland CA and you can still see it there. It's our tradition to go to the Tiki Room as the FIRST and LAST attractions for our family. Hope they keep it there forever.
8seattle8 1 year ago
@8seattle8 It's good to know that you can still see the original show but I doubt if I'll make it out there any time soon since I live in Michigan.

@krammit69 it will be reopening as the original show in August
Trulula2 9 months ago
@Trulula2 They are changing it back? They must have finally seen all the complaints on YouTube. (power to the people). August of what year?
cancerman50 9 months ago
@cancerman50 This year.. The Iago and Zazu animatronics were damaged in a small fire in the attic of the attraction.
Trulula2 9 months ago
@cancerman50 and the other people discussing the original show coming back to Disney World- it's still not official that the original show is coming back, though all signs are pointing that way. All we know for sure is that they were originally planning to re-open it in march (the fire was in late january) but they've now pushed it back twice, and they're currently saying it will re-open in august.
deeblite 9 months ago
@krammit69 Announced today, due to a fire that occurred in the Tiki Room Under New Management at Walt Disney World in January of 2011, the attraction will be returned to its original 1971 status.

@krammit69 I have good news! I just came back from DisneyWorld and the Tiki Room had the imagineer wall around it! I got excited and asked a few cast members if the original show was returning, and they said yes! They heard the voices of the people and are correcting their mistake! ^^

We live in South Florida and have been taking our kids and now grandkids
to Disney World since the late 1970's/
We've been raising Cain about how they RUINED the TIKI ROOM ever
since the HORRIBLE GILBERT GOTTFRIED BIRD destroyed the beauty
of the show.
Maybe since we and many others have written Disney Corp. about this
TRAGEDY they will GET RIGHT and RESTORE the ORIGINAL SHOW!
We can only hope. My grandkids haven't seen the original yet.

These were the things I wanted to take home with me when I went to the parks. One time I went home, never having sculpted anything in my life. I got some Sculpey, and made a tiny copy of pele. Since then I've done much larger tiki pieces for my yard, but this is where it all starts for me. Awesome video. Thank you.

@nuttyginger1 It is actually considered illegal, because of piracy.
