Porcupine Tree not only combines the real music talent with very well written lyrics, as they can input visual art into their songs... Try to check out their videos, absolute masterpieces (some you can even imagine what's shown while you listen to their songs). Cheers, from Portugal!
No band/person will ever be able to capture the raw negativity that is drawn from Steven's lyrics. He is such a genius to take such dark tones and make them into beautiful soundscapes.
The lyrics are so true and honest. In even each song is hidden something from your own life that you're constantly thinking about. It's like they would read in your mind. their music is incredible, beautiful and what's more important - helpfull
Breathtakingly awesome genius art . . . the Muse is one one place at any given moment in time . . . we know where she was the day this song was hatched . . .
the end of each line of the verse.....it reminds me of a song but i can't think which one...anyone know?.... just the vocal melody line....mayb gorillaz
@Zythe Oh, finally someone knows! Yes! This is a beautiful tribute to/interpretation of Bret Easton Ellis's novel, this song belonging to its final few pages.
@MetalJony they really don't. Music that charts is basically pre-programmed garbage with the sole design of turning profits. From the album art, to the lyrics, to the video and attire of the artists it's all about selling a product rather than artistic expression. This music is a refreshing trip back to expression. kudos!
@BigBadJoxed Why would you create real music if it doesn't sell? People tend to think stuff from back in the day was made for the sake of music. No. In my opinion, a lot of lyrics were pretty shallow and the compositions were just simple chord progression. Look at the Beatles and such. (Dark Side Of The Moon is one of few exceptions...)
I don't think it's right to create music for sale, but everything's gotta be a business, y'know...
@audiofunkdialect Nah...dont know if The Beatles is the "best of all time". Music is subjective anyway. Most influential band of all time probably. You should just respect their contribution to popular music.
@PennyDreadful1 music is subjective, but im talking along the lines of how everything went down in their history as far as evolving and changing their music, plus their impact, plus everything, you should just let me have my own opinion, unlike you i can't help but have some opinion in everything i say
@MetalJony I agree. I mean, here's a band that's arguably as as good as Pink Floyd who sold the number one album of all time, and they don't even get much recognition outside Europe. Shame.
@MetalJony They're really good... they make real good music... but i really think that their only "fault" is that they're too similar to Pink Floyd atmosphere and sometimes also in melody
@MetalJony They're really good... they make real good music... but i really think that their only "fault" is that they're too similar to Pink Floyd atmosphere and sometimes also in melody
@StarshipTr00per yes ,but better ! It seems like the revive from the history of 40 Years rockmusic , but not like a coverband ,they did invent new the rockmusic !
@CNorrisBiggestFan It's only because of the fact that they are using a Wurlitzer that has a flanger effect on it. which is what JPJ used on No Quarter.
@10kokesly More like it isn't. Coming from a huge Led Zeppelin fan (Myself), I can only slightly hear anything relating to Zeppelin. That being the Wurlitzer. Other than that....nothing else says Zeppelin at all. Pink Floyd? Yes, there is more Pink Floyd than Zeppelin.
@CNorrisBiggestFan yes i can hear that in there, but PT has LZ beat by a long shot. i grew up listening to Zepp, but I love Porcupine Tree, they are so diverse in their music, unbelievable!
@CharlotteALux I thought the history of music did reach the highest point , but since I heard Porcupine Tree I know , that the art of music got a new level ! And in deed ,this song is a soulcreeper !
Finally, someone posted this to Youtube, I've looked for a studio version before, on here, didnt find one, found it on some indie site from google... TYVM
