The mind of a supporter of the Democratic Party is a dead end street. No one in their right mind would support the Democrats given the reality and facts of America today. The Republicans are not viable alternatives as they are screwed up as well. People just keep getting further away from facts and more into fantasy as time goes by. The election victory of Obama is a perfect example of this. Forget about reform it is about raising taxes, spending more and most of all wealth redistribution.

To sit and try to assume that all Democrats are on the fringe of the party is dumb.

Thanks for the link to this video. Even though I do not agree with anything he says, it gave me a good insight into Progressives and Democratic party today. This is pretty scary.

By the way, Lindsey Graham is anything but a right wing. He is a progressive working from the "right" side.

@kmg501 no many people don't agree with Paul because he wantes to get rid of the department of Education, Labor, Energy and medicare, medicaid, welfare. That would lead to the poorest 20 % of this country becoming much poorer and the richest 5 % becoming much richer. You have to remember that although Paul is a genuine free market consevative, he would need the faux big business republicans to pass anything in congress and they would demand for 'concessions'. I hope you know what that means.

You seem to be one of those people that somehow has managed to forgotten or never educated to the history BEFORE we had those things and thinks that we must have been worse off when it just isn't so.

Progressives can try to create new groups, but without the money to back them, those groups will be quickly co-opted by the corporations and center-right foundations. After the latest SC ruling? Well, essentially, yes. The corporatists have divided the proletariat against each itself in terms of social conservatism vs. progressive collectivism using the wedge of fundamentalist christian values. The economic interests that lower middle and working class voters share are much greater than the divisions over "social" issues - gay rights, abortion, etc. - that form the basis of "political" discussion.
