Man Bessy was a lucky gal, she got to take this hansom hunk home every night, lol. But besides his sexiness, he was a flicking amazing magician, stunt man, movie star, entertainer, and most importantly, a great performer who knew exactly what his audiences wanted to see, pure drama and an adrenalin rush of excitement when he defeated the odds escaping countless confinements. That's why in the plain and short of it, Harry Houdini still fricking rocks!!!!

My twin and I have recently rekindled our love for Houdini, haha. We've not seen much of him, tbh, but every bit and piece we come across is appreciated.

Would someone please tell me from which show/movie is the scene around 1:10. I saw a documentary some years ago with a scene like that, and he strangles someone with his feet there too, I believe. I've not seen it for a long time, so I could be wrong D:

I'm guessing the scene at 1:10 is either from "The Master Mystery" or "Haldane of the Secret Service"--but I haven't seen either of these films, so I don't know which it is.

@datalal624 Thank you for your response. After viewing this video, I actually ordered the DVD set and found that the clip is from The Master Mystery. I enjoyed all of his films, or well, what was left of them. I reccommend this DVD set to any and all Houdini fans! I certainly enjoyed it a great deal!

I can't believe there are some who STILL believe Houdini had superpowers! That wildly innacurate 1953 movie had something to do with the proliferation of this belief, I'm sure, plus the fact that people can't explain what he did (b/c they aren't magicians/escape artists) so they jump to "convincing" conclusions.

Houdini trained hard to make his body strong and contortable so he could do straitjacket, milk can escapes, etc. He didn't NEED superpowers to do what he did!

I've always wondered why no one has made a big budget Hollywood film of Houndini. Like Chaplan, the World'd Fastest Indian, The Assassination of Jesse James, Ray, or Ali, etc. That sort of thing. It would be damn hard to find someone that could fill Houdini's shoes, and Hollywood would probably screw it up anyway, but it'd still be a hell of a show. With so much amazing material to work with, I'm sure they could make a movie that was at least very entertaining, if historically inaccurate.

Actually, at least one big budget movie about Houdini was made. It starred Tony Curtis. It was a good movie but it was very inaccurarate in it's facts.

Thanks, I'll have a look for it. I've seen a couple of movies that have tried to depict Houdini's life and times, and they were both terribly inaccurate, so, what not watch another one? We need a Harry Houdini movie for our time; it's long overdue, I think. Thanks again.

Apparently they're going to make an action movie based on Houdini's life in the next few years. I have NO idea who's going to play Houdini. (**Please don't let them pick a sucky actor**)

IMO I'd rather have Hollywood make a quality feature-length biopic, like they have done for Chaplin, Jolson, and copious other 20th century public figures. I'm worried that an action film is just going to race through Houdini's life at full throttle and not be a very good quality movie. Could be fun, though.
