  • Ennis & Jack!

    Brokeback Mountain <3

  • love it

  • Such a beautiful song, Rufus has a voice that touches the soul and fills your heart.

  • What does this song have anything to do with being gay? You people are so ignorant. Make some use of your life, at least try to.

  • @WastedTone Maybe because it was in Brokeback Mountain, but I know what you mean...:)

  • @GreenEyedGurrrl Maybe you're right, or maybe it's ignorance. I don't know. I knew of the song before Brokeback.

  • Is this song written by Rufus originally?

  • @model23girl23 No, Leonard Cohen

  • je l'adore

  • It's so beautiful that I can't help but cry.

  • מי זה המדהים הזה!

  • Frickin' love him :)

  • Try my best to be glad..but it is not easy.

  • que j'aime cet artiste . il me fait voyager

  • There are about 7 billion people on earth. People are born homosexuals. It's a medical fact. Roughly 10% of males and 5% of women are homosexuals. That's 1.5 billion men and women. It’s safe to say homosexuals are very common. There’s no doubt God intended it to be that way. Religions are man made and vary dramatically. Any particular set of rules is irrelevant. There is no reason why gay people should not feel free to be as spiritual as they please.

  • @gladw2c thanx for your understanding ...we gay people were just waiting for such compassion...oh and thanx for having explained us why we should feel free and spiritual as we please....oh i know i know...you find it disgusting but your heart is kind and you're a free spirit....o.k...o.k...peace!!!!!....i understand your point and your feelings.i just think you're sustaining the wrong argument on the subject...beware: being gay is something you catch the moment you start thinking about it!

  • @gladw2c Amen to that

  • i love it!

  • What does he mean by "Get along, little doggies"?

    "

  • @ladyunebarton "A dogie is a calf (young cow) that has no mother. Git along little doggie is a phrase shoutted out by cowboys while hearding cattle." urban dictionary.

  • @thankyouforsmokingby Ohhh I see..., thank you

  • Hauntingly beautiful.

  • Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice - heartbreaking message.

  • In order to appreciate the meanings in this song, you should see the movie it was written for - Brokeback Mountain. It's a love song of two cowboys, but the love of one cowboy is not reciprocated in a way he desires it, which is the subject of this lament.

  • @DVCourt88 i'm pretty sure he's sing from a homosexual christian's point of view. that he's not allowed to love who he want's; so he's sad, but God comforts him. now listen to the song again. it will make sense. it sounds like your description is for Jack but i'm pretty sure it's for Ennis because it's played at the credits and Jack is already dead... just listen to it again =] it's hard to have good reciprocity when you live three states away and there's that risk of murder in Ennis' defense.

  • english is not my mother language. i like this song soo much and i'm trying so hard to understand its meaning+and i'm getting confused :-/ (need some views or smthing) can anyone help?

  • @fleshlyjail The "maker" refers to God. The song is about loving someone you're not allowed to love according to your religion.

  • @ifyoucantfixit i'm sorry about your friend but i'm glad you were able to find some sort of peace through wainwrights music :) i believe that's what its really for

  • I dare ANYONE to listen/watch this video and NOT be completely moved.

Rufus IS the total & complete definition of:

    Music

    Raw Emition

    & Love ;-)

    Theresa

  • Stunning song...

  • I am amazed at this talent! What show is extraordinary! Outstanding!

  • Beautiful song by a supremely talented man. Rufus is actually American by birth. Born in New York state. His dad, Loudon, is a famous American folk singer. His mother was Kate McGarrigle, another famous folk singer, and a Canadian who died in January of 2010. Rufus lived with his mother and sister in Canada, after his parents divorced when he was 3 or 4. So, perhaps he holds dual citizenship, but he was born in the US and now lives in NYC.

  • @ifyoucantfixit real magic does exist. I am sorry for your sad news and a life to short.

  • I never tire of this song, and of Rufus's beautiful voice.

Sad, yes. But oh, so wonderful.

  • This song. Is love.

  • i bet even his farts sound amazing

  • @jumpyduck thats hilarious...but probably true

  • can someone please tell me what is the song about?? :P

  • @ska8remo15 Well, the song was made for the movie "Brokeback Mountain" so, evidently it talks about the relationship between two guys and how it is incorrect to the eyes of the Maker (god). It also talks about all the barriers the society settles (the chain he breaks) and how they have to pretend to be happy with their lives (the smile he fakes). It uses the name of "The Maker" in a sarcastic meaning, telling that he is the only one who can make them happy. Really sad song. Sad. Sad.

  • @turophileanachronist THANK YOU!!!!! :))

  • You can't be THAT perfect.Must be an alian !

  • Such a beautiful, heart-felt song, with that bitter sting of irony in the "only can the maker make a happy man of me" part. This suits the film so well

  • I had lost and finally found this song again. Evert time it's incredible to listen to...

  • @jochmaboys,yes,Rufus is Loudon's son.Great stuff,isn't it?!

  • I never get tired of this song.It is great! Does anyone know if this is Loudon Wainwright's son? Remember he sang Dead Skunk?

  • He isn't "unknown". He isn't played on pop radio stations. But that doesn't make one unknown. Rufus sells out venues and is very successful. It's a testament to the idiotic tastes of the masses, that is he is not more "popular". Which is what I assume you meant by "unknown".

  • youtube.com/watch?v=7L-GrFOgrkc plz watch :) xxx

  • His Father was Loudon Wainwright from Canada .

He was a Singer as well.

    Beautiful voice Rufus.

  • Where is he from? Ireland? Gah... can his songs be more beautiful? I can't believe how unknown he is! I mean... I discovered him today... how is it possible that such an amazing artist is not known... <3

  • @turophileanachronist he's Canadian/American...

  • @turophileanachronist Rufus Wainwright is from Montreal... his mother was of the McGarrigle Sisters, awsome singers alsom from Montreal... She died recently... google them up you may recognize some old tunes..

  • seems to me or sounds like tom yorke??

  • he chuckles subtle when "little doggie"........

  • voice like thom yorke!!!

  • @hilaryduffok I remember thinking that too when i first heard him years ago lol.

  • gotta love Rufus !

  • absolutely amazing... fantastic song for a fantastic movie
