  • You have a very intriguing theme, but I can’t listen anymore. I guess I’m just showing my hip hop age, because I’m just NOT impressed with all of these weeds you pullin off the surface. I don’t even DIG for this shit anymore and I bet I can blow your wig back with some TRULY dirty ass samples I’ve forgotten until I play um on my pod.

  • The streets is watching

  • it sounds like john holt sampled the beetles (I will) from love songs

  • wow i didnt know about ems sample

  • bye ola : )

  • thanks for posting this stuff. awesome.

  • you're doing it, doing it, doing it well...

  • Eminem sample..also jayz -streets is watchin

  • That Shady beat blew my mind, hahaha. It completely changed outta no where. DAMN.

  • Also the song by Labri is called "I Got Me," and the part you played was not the part that Eminem sampled.

  • Dude you are making your shit way too long.

  • there's a interesting story behind the "My Name Is" sample. Labri Siffre is gay and in order to use the sample Labri wanted that Eminem would change this line in My Name Is: "my English teacher wanted to fuck me in junior high, thanks a lot next semester I'll be 35." So Eminem changed it into: "my English teacher wanted to flunk me in junior high, thanks a lot next semester I'll be 35" Eminem and Dre never made money of My Name Is, it all went to Labri Siffre

  • @Tim073

No, the first vesrsion of that line was - "My English Teacher wanna fuck me in junior high, the only problem was my English Teacher was a guy!" )))

  • @Tim073 lol you dumbass, then why hy does the original version still exist?does it still say

  • @Rayvn7 I don't know, but that's what Eminem is saying is his "The Way I Am" book ;)

  • You are so funny and entertaining!

  • big beat was also used for 99 problems

  • Funktuall! so glad you are on YouTube. I would love to see you do a vid on just WAR songs that are sampled. It would probably run you over an hour though. The WAR OG's are one of the most used, yet under recognized bands ever. Love them and you for all your music knowledge and energy. Peace.

  • song #2 - potholes in my lawn - De La Soul, that uses the War sample, right????

  • @BGPanda, You are right. The sample is Magic Mountain by Eric Burdon & WAR.

    Peace.

  • Best shit I've found on youtube. Thank you

  • Just want to say thanks for the inspirational vibe your vids create and even the cuts I know about already its always good to see someone else so excited about them.

  • I'm just loving it---I hope I can listen to them ALL!!!!

  • The Beatnuts sampled that "Your the best there is" part for Beatnuts forever.

  • he sounds so english when he says dizzee rascal lol

  • DUUUUDE! I can't believe u didn't realize Big Beat was sampled by Rick Rubin 4 Jay-Z's 99 Problems aswell! Step yo game up! Haha! Only kidding! Ur doing a great job funktuall. Peace! :-)

  • @5:50ish, Play Ballinjack over that breathy cut from Bette Midler's Daytime Hustler and you'll have the breakdown for "Bust a Move". :) Good upload, Funktuall.

  • the guy is funny :)

  • The Labi Siffre song also had the Beatnuts' "Watch Out Now" sampled from there I think. It's right before the Eminem sample if you catch it.

  • @clayphace good call on that one i heard it also

  • Like everyboody sayin, that labre siffre is more recognizable as Streets offa In My Lifetime...classic, but Dre found a nice part too! That intro is so tuff though!

  • I wonder if funkual smokes the sticky icky icky?!

  • the intro of the labi siffre song sounds like puffy's 'bad boy for life', don't you agree?

  • flea from the red hot chili peppers plays the bass line in that song bust a move.

  • "hi honey you just called in the middle of shootin a video" lmfao idk why but tht was funny haha

  • This is one of my favs for sure man!

I recognize a few of these ones ...and awesome ones too!

  • el funk no tiene color mi rey

  • 8.WU TANG CLAN- CAN IT BE ALL SO SIMPLE

  • The Charmels - As Long As I've Got You

    NOT "I'll Never Grow Old"

  • Bust a MOVE was a just a classssic... brought me BACKKK!!!!

  • The Big Beat is one of the foundations of Hip Hop, and most recognizably used on Run DMC's "Here We Go"...not to mention banged out on lunchroom tables in schools across NYC in the early to mid 80"s

  • wooow i never knew that little bit of trivia about the "doin it" song!

  • yo puff what the f#@k r u doin. i dont see any videos of u or your record collection. so shut the f%$k up and dont watch. nobody would miss u.

  • nice one reppin dizzee man! he's really getting big right now

  • 5:14 is one of the greatest moments in youtube history. :-)

  • Puff must stand for Puffetic? Like it? You probably don't get it. Stop hating man. Big up respect Funktuall.

  • For real puff... why hate? Your record collection does nothing for me. This dude is making good videos... if you are unhappy with your life, ok fine, but don't try and insult people for no reason, take a fucking prozac. However if you want to argue that Method Man did not rip off Hall and Oats I'm with you :)... otherwise give peace a chance you fucking duche

  • As far as the Method Man thing goes it is MOST likely that him choosing the name METHOD had nothing to do with H&O at all but because the song does exist maybe one of the other guys in the group started saying singing it with the MAN part and they found a hook. They didn't rip them off. It's prolly just an interpolation that made sense.

  • I was always under the impression that his name came from the famous kung-fu movie of the same name "The Method Man" good movie too.

  • dont hate. educate. do you have any sweet videos on you tube educating young hip hop heads like me on the origins on classic hip hop samples?

  • I would like to cosign all of the comments directed @ that bytch azz puffAH73. you a lame

  • one was kool g rap cars

  • The eminem track was was also sampled by Jay-z. the introduction. "Where I'm From" one of his early classics.

  • noooo. it was sampled for Streets Is Watching. not Where I'm From.

  • Yeah noticed the mistake as soon as I pressed post comment but I couldn't change it.

  • Lol. Ohhh.

  • Thanks for all the hip hop source info. Good narration and presentation. One thing, 1:12-1:20, you kinda' look like a muppet when you dance and bounce your head! Muppets are cool though!

  • lol his wife calls

  • YOu could start a whole list just on people who sampled the "get on down" billy squier vocal LMAO!

  • You should have credited RUN DMC for using the Billy Squier beat waaaaaaay before Dizzee Rascal. But anyways, you've done a hell of a lot more digging than most ppl would anyways, lol...keep it up

  • Dizzee track was so hot at the time, I kinda assumed that sample ppl know about DMC, you're right tho-

  • Haha, dude of the video, you made my day with that dance-stuf and ur face, hahaha

    dope samples tho'!

    big up

  • number 8 beatnuts used as well

  • You are totally crazy man!! What do you smoke?? :-D

  • Well I learn something every time I watch these clips. John Holt sampled by Jay Z+ Kanye West? Labi Siffre sampled by Dre Dre?

I had no idea that "White Lines" was a sample. Along with Sugar Hill Gang, White Lines was one of the first rap records that I ever heard, and I thought the beat was original.

These producers must go through hundreds of tracks looking for small sections to use as the basis of beats for their records

    DJ funktuall, Keep them coming!!!

  • I can't believe you added in Dizzee Rascal at the end there holy shit you are the fucking MAN!! SIIIICCKKK!!!

  • The song De La Soul sampled, Ultramagetic MC's also used that beat on a song called "Burn"

  • No. 4 was used by Ultramagnetic MC's on their song "Burn"

  • My Jamaican Guy was also used by Kid-n-Play for a song called Undercover featuring Kid Rapping in a duet with The Real Roxanne!
