I was just wondering what your settings were on the Everlast? Argon psi and amp settings? Going to buy this welder to do aluminum. I also notice that with the aluminum your tungsten has a pretty sharp point and I was always told to use a round end. Is the sharper end more accurate? controllable?
@Evanofthecosmos , I was using a #5 cup , 3/32" 2% lanthanated tungsten, about 15cfh of argon.
I usually taper electrodes a bit for aluminum. With most inverters, you can set the ac balance and or ac frequency to where the electrode stays somewhat tapered with only the very tip rounded. It lets you pinpoint the arc better than a ball....especially at low amperage on edges, and thin stuff. To get the thick aluminum to puddle hotter, I used argon helium mixed at around 50/50
Great video Jody ... You should a review of the Eastwood tig 200 it's a 200amp ac/dc welder comes with a foot pedal hand control and 3year warranty for 850 ship
You go Jody. Not many would have the nerve to get into this type of comparison, but you did and I think it was well done, objective and un-biased. I really liked the disclaimer up front and you stuck to it. Hats off to you man... Now if the rest of the junk talkers would just put up or shut up. life would be good. Bob
I gotta say, this tig fingers are AMAZING. I ordered the 3 pack not knowing the durability of them. After a month of using it everyday, it just looked a little dirty from the pipe. So I sold one to a buddy for $9 (so I didn't make any money) and my instructor stole the other......asshole. Anywho, buy 1 or two to stick in your bucket and you'll be happy!
@tijuanacerca Everlast micro 185 price 850$ , Miller Diversion 180 price 2225$ . There is also Lincoln Square Wave TIG 175 for 1850$, but on Lincoln you can easy switch torches and stick weld :D(prices from official sites ) Jody awesome videos as always ! greetings for all!
hello I been watching you videos for a while now. I got a thermadyne aka Hobart tigwave 350 got it all setup put in new hf start cap and meter. I watched your videos for aluminum setting and did like you said. and I still cant weld a simple lap weld or fillit bead on 1/8" 6061 I cleaned it with wire vrush and acetone using 4043 rod it welds on flat like your video but noting else works this is a transformer welder i live close to hobart hq in troy, ohio maybe you know some one who can help.
Don't feel bad about your tig finger promos. We only benefit. We good great arc shots. It's a good product. And its another video! I personally don't mind at all.
I strongly dislike the included torch.
I wonder how difficult it would be to install a weldcraft torch on it.
Anyone try it yet?

The ability to weld under different conditions. The ability to fine tune certain characteristics of the arc etc.

When you give up adjust-ability with these entry grade machines, what do you lose from a practical perspective regarding the end product?

Can the Everlast run on both 115/230? I see that as a huge plus for the Miller. I can't seem to find a straight answer on Everlast's website.
xorfive 7 months ago
@xorfive ...nope. The Everlast takes 230 only

nickolaguez 7 months ago
@nickolaguez I used 2% lanthanated 3/32" tapered a bit

You should try the Helium on the thick piece of bar you were trying to weld on this video to see the difference.
