Many thanks for such a clear, straight fordward explanation, studying nursing and book couldn't explain it as clear as you did, I hope you get better soon and recover fully from it, and really apreciate your help, I will never forget now what AD is now, and will help a lot to care for people experiencing it when in clinicals or when I start to work as a nurse. Best of the best for you.
I am a C-5/C6 spinal cord injury, the headaches are the worst that can be brought on by urinary tract infections, activity in the rectum or overstimulation of the rectum, ingrown toenails, I have even heard of quadriplegics getting the autonomic dysreflexia after receiving tattoos-last time this happened to me my blood pressure was 210/158
I just wanted to say thank you for spaking that clear about autonomic dysreflexia. I am in Nursing school strugling with Spinal Cord injury topic and you have made it so simple. I am sure you are changing the world with your videos. YOu are just helpng so many carrying people who want to become nurses to understand and know how to treat this. Thanks for turning your reality into something so positive, That is brave.
Wow, I'm studying this in nursing school right now and you definitely helped put things into better perspective. I'm sorry you have to deal with this everyday, hopefully it'll resolve! Keep on fighting the good fight. Thanks for explaining what you're going through. Best wishes!
man i feel you , fuck i hope stem research do somethiing, i know how it feels please hang in there......this fuckin religious nuts thins an embrionic stem cell is a baby but we liberal will vote in favor of funding. Soon man, soon u will be cured.
@mp0168 Im also in nursing school right now, how carzy! And yes this did help on an engligh level (so to speak) then on an nursing school book! Thanks for sharing and i sincerly hope it gets better for you!
Hey buddy. Physical Therapist Assistant student here. Keep on pushing and making videos to help educate those who do not fully understand and want to learn about what it is actually like in the day of the life of some one like yourself. Your videos take my understanding of SCI's beyond the txt books and lectures. Best of luck to you and your family. Thanks for your help. This will help me provide better treatment to my patients now that I have a better understanding. -Anjelo (Toledo, OH)
i have been watchin your videos and i wish you the best of luck to ya! i dont have an injury myself but my bf did and i took care of him in every way imaginable!!!! its good you take care of yourself but dont let the bitterness of the injury change who you are. obviously you are outgoing and open! haha its good to talk about these things. ;) ttyl!
and also your videos are very moving and it seems you have a good head on your shoulders. I mean I cant say I know how you feel..... because I have absolutely no idea what it is like. But keep staying positive you are very hot and funny ... and you may think that no one gets anything out of these videos but you taught me a lot! sooo thanks! :-)
So I stumbled across this video attempting to study for a neuromuscular test that I have in nursing school tomorrow, and this video really helped me understand autonomic dysreflexia because it made absolutely no sense to me until you put it into a better perspective that is more of in my lingo rather than a medical one! haha
Thank you for this. My brother is a C2/C4 complete and has autonomic dysreflexia but he would never say he was in pain unless I asked him. Looking back now I can relate to him making faces...I thought it was because he was bored of me talking! I feel so bad now.
SCI's ROCK! YES!.... K, NOT! I am also a C6-7, however am incomplete. I deal with autonomic dysreflexia all the freakin' time! I end up in the ER multiple times a week, because unlike yours mine is not due to bladder or bowl. We aren't even sure what right now, I have a cyst lower in my spinal cord so they think it may be that but can't fix it till April. So yeah, I get it and can skyrocket to 200's systolic in less that 15 min. I carry nitropaste, clonidine and metorolol with me... then it's ER
damn dude. i hate the ER unless they want to inject me with dilaudid =) fun-d lol. thankfully i havent been in over a year but my nerves are soo jumbled i get a lot of random pains feelings and very harsh discomforts. this must END! hope you and i have a better 2010!
This was much more entertaining than reading the chapter in my textbook on A.D.
