my favorite makup brand for foundation is makeup for ever, by Danny Sanz from France. I used it yesterday at sephora on various clients, they all bought it. it is not cheap though. In fact better than mac foundation. what is your favorite foundation? also try Sue Devitt foundation (gel like).
mac mineralize satinfinish is, i suffer from very dry flaky skin on my forhead and cheeks but since i been using that foundation it cleared up. i use NW20, it matches my skin tone perfectly
i use mainly mac eyeshadows and i buy their 15 spot palettes, i have seven of those to use on location. you buy each color (refill) or a few at a time, and build your collection. You can also order online from mac cosmetics. when you are a makeup addict, you learn the names of each color by heart (which is my case) so i dont need labels. visit the website and start familiarizing yourself. did not realize you were in uk but if you need any tips, let me know.
You can emphasize the area of your face which has the nicest features, for example if your eyes look nice, you draw attention on them and not the lips. If you want something different, do the other way around once in a while.. anyway you can do a lot with makeup. mac is also my favorite cosmetic company.

I use ebay a lot too though. Where do you get them palletes to put the eyeshadow in and how do you know what shadow you using. Are there labels you can use?
It also goes with the way society wants you to look and act today. A good makeup will boost your confidence. As a makeup artist I know how makeup when applied correctly, can hide and cover imperfections, and add some beauty but I also know that real beauty comes from inside. You cannot duplicate the happiness and "light" that radiates through the eyes of a person, with makeup. It is after all a matter of attitude and how you conduct yourself that gives you beauty.
I must admit I am a bit of a makeup addict myself, would love to be a makeup artist. I just got a pro brush set and the best foundation ever! its a mac one and its the only one that hasnt dried my skin. I use akeup to draw people to my better features, i have nice eyes so I do a lot for my eyes and less on my lips so people look at my eyes more. (and not my large boobs lol) some people dont need any makeup though!

im glad you understand the message I am trying to put across, I watched a programme were some woman took airbrushed photos and showed them to many young girls and women, a lot of them did not realise they had be retouched to look like that. They really thought the people in the photos were naturally airbrushed
That's the game. Set impossible standards so we keep buying crap...
