Sorry but I don't think ANYONE can cover the Cure. It'd be like trying to re-do Ella Fitzgerald or re-write Mozart. Robert Smith is one of those people that can never be duplicated or matched in his category. Maybe I'm just closed minded but its not just the music that is so wonderful- or his voice- it is the perfect combination that he masters in which our emotions mirror his and our souls soar off into some distant and unknown place- if only for a moment.
