  • R.I.P. Curtis Mayfield. I grew up loving you Sir.

  • lovin' it...esp today...I was feeling a little down & this brought me right back

  • i miss Curtis every morning when i get up and every night before i go to bed.....and all day inbetween.

  • A genius that flew under the radar.

  • I love Curtis Mayfield. Its all right is one of my favorite songs besides pusherman.

  • @leemsgt932 billy jack is one of my faves, i love the horns!

  • What is it with the 2 top comments by the same people?

It's so awkward how he's replying to himself

  • Thumbs up if you are tapping your feet right now

  • This is an ALL STAR band....wow! Great upload!!

  • so what up my homies

  • There was never any mention, as far as I heard of Mayfield's accident. Short attention span there, media.

  • Aside from the fact that Broadway Video couldn't afford to put the best, but popular acts of the time on, this was a great show. They still blended classic artists and those from the cutting edge with the help of Sanborn and a versitile group. For awhile, Paul Shaeffer led the World's Second Most Dangerous Band.

If the music industry learned from the accident in New York that left Mayfield quadrapelegiac, lives would have been saved in that accident in the Midwest.

  • Love this arrangement... Our group is definitely going to have to put this in our show.

  • the man..the master of song...

  • Inspirational musical sermons by the "High Priest" of Gospel cross-over.

  • God i hate the 80's, ruining such a great artist like curtis mayfield

  • What a soothing voice you have!

  • Oh!!!! Curtis Mayfield!!!!

    Miracle Voice!!!!!❤

  • I was introduced to Curtis through David Simon's book 'The Corner'. I'm astonished by the fact that I didn't know of this musical genius until my 30's.

  • DAVID LINDLEY IS PLAYING SLIDE...HE REALLY GETS AROUND DUDES!

  • CLICK ON: disccentury, GOSPEL MUSIC, NEVER SEEN

  • This is one of the songs I put on when I am feeling down. In the end, "It's Alright". Those were the days for music, and Curtis Mayfield is definitely a classic legend in the field.

  • Back in the day it did not matter what an artist look like as long as they made good music. This man was a musical king.

  • 21 people don't know it's alright.

  • ''SWEETNESS'', it's ALRIGHT and WE LOVE YOU!

    Blerssing's, Peace,Love,Light, ''JOY'', Oneness.....:)

    AMEN

  • A classic. Both the song and the man.

  • now this is music

  • Amen!

  • SO funky, might have to do a backflip to this one

  • Saturday Night Live set with Dave Sanborne?

Love this song... what a loss. R.I.P. Curtis Mayfield

  • angels in the outfield

  • Loved Curtis-I knew him and loved him as a sweet person and incredible one of a kind talent!

  • Curtis and Lennon were about the same age. Who was the better songwriter? I might go w/ Mayfield.

  • How do you download this version? I have slower versions, but this is Curtis' best.

  • Mr. Curtis Mafield with an great band behind him....

  • He is a fine soul singer but the finnest soul songwritter

  • Love how when they sing simultaneously, Hiram Bullock's (back) vocals are 2 octaves lower than Curtis'.

  • I love it .... It's All Right , Have a good timee

The Best as Michael jackson :) <3 , jame bond , ect ... elvis

  • Curtis

  • so good

  • curtis was a true gentilman and great friend to all who knew him when he died they had to close off 2 streets becasue the line was that long everybody wanted to say good by they felt a big loss when curtis left he had such a short but forfilling life and never had any ego there will never be another like him

  • The world is a less soulful place without Curtis in it, he was a great spirit.

  • @lordkoos true so true...but we have solace in the fact that WU-TANG IS FOREVER!!

  • The best!

  • It's alright , you got that right on it.

  • damn this song is awesome. and you know what? it's alright.

  • If i ever have a kid i want to name him Curtis.LOL

  • Sooooo fine......It's all right if we got this kind of music..

  • what the hell is going on with my generations music.......theres like....no depth, soul, or give a damn whatsoever in the new music today....wtf.

  • Damm, what a band! Sandborn, Lindley, Duke. Looks like SNL stage

  • all I can say is all right!!

  • @ 2009Denisem Nicely put!

  • He has such a sweet voice and I enjoy the back up singers too. Fine selection.

  • congratulations

  • Great voice!!!!♥

  • Love it. Especially the combination spiritual portion. Very uplifting song :)

  • This was the song we all sang and danced to at CYO dances on those great old Saturday Night at Ascension Church Annex, Bradley Beach, NJ circa 1970, making out in the back...........then back inside to dance for HOURS, till our parents picked us up at 11:30.

  • The good, they die young. It's so true, but the music will never die.

  • @escapearts David Sanborn was never a member of the SNL band. He performed several times as a musical guest. Michael Brecker was the featured sax player with the SNL band.

  • @peteythedrummer I believe the bassist is Nathan East

  • @willrobm Tom Barney

  • @pretorious700....... Kool Beans ... Man, this is what I really dig about you-tube... Thanks friend...

  • @peteythedrummer the 'keyboardist' is the outasitest of ivory George Duke...

  • (Cont'd)...Those horn riffs and "jams" were, and till are an almalgam of chords paste together from the greats like JR. WALKER AND HIS ALL-STARS, as well as other great 60s and 70s R&B and Contemporary Jazz srtists. There is not one note or chord that the SNL band has played in its 34 YEAR snorous history that's original! I can say this with certainty even though I've watched the show now and then in the perverbial "blue moon".You should understand this non-creativity killed "SMOOTH JAZZ" tripe!

  • Now THAT'S funny, because if you're insisting that the sax player in the vid IS David Sanborn then it adds credence to my observation that's he was "emoting" before the camera.Otherwise, I can't for the life of me understand what you nean that Sanborn, being on the first seasons of SNL gave the band it "original'(?) sound! Those horn riffs and "jams" were, and still are an almalgm of chords paste together from greats like, primarily JR. WALKER AND THE ALL-STARS, and other great 60s R&B, (Cont'd)

  • GREAT GREAT SONG

  • 15 people don't like real or good music

  • music to feel all right,Amen.man love it.

  • Whenever your down... Throw this song on, it will always bring a smile to your face =) Curits is the mannnn

  • It's AlRight!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not hating on the Sax Player at all, I just thought it was funny that the only white guy in the group appears to be into the music more than the other members. He's got skill tho, great track...

  • The Saxophone Player @ 1:35 has the most soul out of everyone in the group. LOL...

  • @Ram4986. The sax player was simply emoting before the cameras, and probably was coached by Curt Mayfield during his tour. Unstructured improversation is a rare gift and talent. Whoever the sax player was Ram4986, he would've surely had made some noise-to-be-noticed since the early 90s.You can find more so-called "soul-ful" horn players among the "Saturday Night Live" band, who utilizes Jazz legends repotoire without any semeblance of originality for the past 33-years. They've had a CD long ago!

  • @Ram4986 @Ram4986 The saxophone player is David Sanborn; he's got real credentials. He played free jazz in his youth, studying with Roscoe Mitchell and Julius Hemphill and has done session work for artists as varied as James Brown, Bryan Ferry, the Brecker Brothers, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Steely Dan, Nena and Ween! This clip is from what might have been the best music show ever, originally called Sunday Night, later Night Music, co-hosted by Sanborn and Jools Holland. (see the Wiki)

  • Thank you for bring a smile to my face, and light to my darkness.

  • this song was in IT by stephen king and i loved it!

  • Notice how the quiets are QUIET and the louds are LOUD. The music is not dynamically compressed into 4dB of headroom, totally unlike all of today's music, in which everything is loud, even the parts that should be quiet. It's like today's music is totally missing the dynamic dimension.

  • @33rdPatriot

    Agree.

  • @33rdPatriot

    You said it, Brother!

  • @33rdPatriot It's an annoying and nasty habit that record companies have gotten into. Especially when they re-re-re master older stuff and compress it.

  • @33rdPatriot Totally right! Hate to the loudness wars, they are screwing up such beautiful things..

  • @33rdPatriot i was trying to put my finger on that the other day. but you put into words what i've realized about todays music. thats why from beginning to end most songs on the radio SOUND THE SAME THROUGHOUT the whole 2 minutes of bullshit.

  • @33rdPatriot yeah - that's absolutely right. I can't stand most of the contemporary main stream music as it appears to me like a constant louf "noise" - well, I often think "shouting is NOT signing", Lady Gaga, Ketty Perry----etc. etc.

  • @33rdPatriot Your ObSerVEations ElevatE my AwareEness...Thanks!(0:

  • Was there ever a sweeter voice? Curtis we miss you!

  • This song is very special to me, it helped me get through Basic Training in 1980. Drill SGT woke us up every morning to this song. Beautiful start, just before the real wake up call, trash cans slammin down the hall ways and all the yelling. Good Morning back at you Sarge. The Amen part was our Sunday song as we marched up and down Ft. McCleland Alabama in the Scorching Heat and Humidity.

  • Thank You!!!!! Hearts

  • Is there somewhere a Tab/Chords or something of that one? Who wrote this Gospel originally? I know Huey Lewis did it as well.

  • @TacomaGold lol C.M. tuned his guitar in a way noone could play it. Self tought BMF.

  • He inspired this chic also! I really miss Curtis. RIP CURTIS

  • The guitar break that Curtis plays at the end is unbelievably cool.

God Bless you man and yours...Where ever you are!
