@ myelectroncloud why do u take my comment so deeply and personally? If u have a problem with the Almighty Creator take it up to him. Don't make this about me, it's about the Almighty. Sometimes we humans think we know so much, when in reality we don't know anything, again that's y I'll say again this world is in such a mess. I feel sorry for u if u think this world is great. Take time to think n reflect, then you'll realize that it's not.
@joueurharo "I feel sorry for u if u think this world is great."
And you'd be right, but I don't, and it's not. The biggest problem is religious extremism. These factions take it upon themselves to force upon the world a view of their faith by using terrorism. If God were real, then he erred by creating a defective planet that he did not foresee would continuously kill his innocent creations time and again, and now can’t fix it.
All glory and praise be to the Almighty Creator and his only begotten Son Jesus Christ. That's y this world is in such a mess, when we see and witness the wondrous work of the Almighty Creator, we refuse to fall on our knees and bow down and praise Him who created all things.
@joueurharo The reason the world is in such a mess, is because people like you depend upon religion to put things right. One person actually doing something for the greater good works better than 3 billion falling on their knees with hands clasped in prayer.
Show me one instance where not praising God has resulted in a mess, and where praising God would have put it right. Go on, just one!
I thought the universe was 'only' 13 billion years old. How can these galaxies be 47 billion light years away? Even if they were travelling faster than the speed of light, the light wouldn't have reached us yet, would it???
@itsanepicname Nothing can be older than 13.7 billion years, but, if the object was moving away from us at half the speed of light when it first emitted that light, then by the time we received the light, the object would have travelled another 6.85 billion light years. So it would now be 20.55 billion light years away. The universe is expanding at an ever increasing rate, and most of it is further away than its equivalent age.
that picture is in my book written by Prof Brian Cox and tried counting the amount of galaxies i could see, i would of never got to 3000, its truly amazing
@teacher first of all, learn how spell. And secondly, that was the state of which the image was taken. Given the time since then, the universal growth has probably doubled. If not tripled, so on n' so fourth.
How would we know it's 46.5 billion light years away though? The light wouldn't have reached us yet, so is it just an estimation considering the predicted speed that the galaxies are moving? I though that if an object went faster than the speed of light (which Einstein proves is impossible, right), then we wouldn't be able to see it anyway, or is that just if WE are moving faster than the speed of light.
@itsanepicname It's to do with red shift. The frequency of the red shift of light being emitted from the object determines how fast it is moving away. Once its speed has been determined, we can multiply this by the age of the universe, and calculate the aproximate distance the object is likely to be. An object 46.5 billion light years away will have a very long wavelength of red shift, so will be moving very fast. It can get a long way in 13.7 billion years.
im not religious and i dont believe in god , ive seen lots of people argue over if there is one or not . in my opinion , i think there is a possibility , just that the human brain is not advanced enough to understand supernatural things. i dont believe in it at the moment because it hasnt been proven , but i wouldnt say it is impossible for there to be a god . theres definitely a possibility .

At 5:42 is it 47 billion Light years or 47 million light years? the universe itself is something around 13 billion light years old. please correct me if i'm wrong..
@ThePunisherFTW Try not to confuse distance with time. The universe is 47 billion light years in radius, and 13.7 billion years in age. It's all to do with the red shift of the electromagnetic wavelength. Remember, everything is moving away from everything else, at ever increasing rates; the further away it is, the faster it moves.
otricky7rabbito except we're not in the middle of it. We're not even in the middle of our own galaxy, we're on an outer spiral arm. And who created your creator, your creator is by necessity is even more complex than the systems you marvel at- did chance create the creator or another creator? It seems far more likely that religions are manifestations of the human mind reflecting our timeless wants, the biggest being to survive death. While that may be a romantic or poetic notion, it still means
The complexity and vastness of our universe points more toward creator then to blind chance. In the middle of the vast emptiness of space you see this jewel earth with it's many complexities, all it's systems working together like a well made watch. It's like stumbling upon a house in the middle of the woods and thinking it was built by falling trees. It's just nit possible, god made tge physical universe.
@otricky7rabbito "The complexity and vastness of our universe points more toward creator than to chance."
Not at all. There is no complexity, it is simply your misunderstanding of it. And chance has nothing to do with it. Natural selection proves that if something can happen, it usually does. And we end up with a universe. To attribute God to that which we do not understand, serves only to confuse still further, that which we do not understand.
It takes a lot to make my eyes tear up - but the first time I ever seen this video tears literally rolled down my cheeks. I'm not sure why - maybe just the thought of the immensity and vastness of our Universe? I saved this video in my favorites and watch it from time to time. For some odd reason it still plays on my emotions. Surely there must be other civilizations out there somewhere who share our curiosity and are looking back at us - with tears in their eyes???
@jgfergus Why? The Urantia Book is an entirely moot point since it speaks about something that cannot be proved to exist. It serves only to increase one's pre-existing faith. If God were real, then he erred by creating a defective planet that he did not foresee would continuously kill his innocent creations time and again, and now can’t fix it. So he is neither omniscient or omnipotent but is a flawed and imperfect designer/creator. Thus, he cannot be omnipresent or infinite.
@CarMadLV1 probably those tears are from your creator and the creator of this super vast universe. you are pre-wired to these emotions somehow....may be this tells u to return to him...and believe his oneness.....and also believe his messengers Jesus Christ , Mohammed, Moses, Abraham, David, and many more......God said in his holy book the quran "We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof)" Surah Adh-Dhariyat verse 47
@daawad101 Actually, I have no belief system in any gods - but I thank you for your input. No, god(s) have nothing to do with it. But what most likely makes me and others here get teary-eyed - is the sheer vastness, complexity and immensity of our cosmos. As the late Carl Sagan stated, "We are star-stuff". Earth and humanity are not separate and removed from the Universe - we are a part of it. When we look up at the stars - we are, in effect, the Universe looking back on itself.
Such a beautiful video. Everything about our Universe is amazing. I appreciate everyone has a different view on whether there are other life forms or not, but I can't help feeling they're quite ignorant at the thought of only us in the Universe! I know this might sound morbid, but if my life was about to end, I love the thought of living out the last years just floating through the Universe, as far as I could go!
@pattas2005 believe in God u are gona fly millions of light years. Our God got more interesting life for us after this life too. but some refuse to believe that. and i really believe that we are not gona live for 80years or 90 and die and cease to exist. we are gona live more this big universe can be one of the proof of that. Jesus loves y'all. respond to him. i love y'alll
Thats a really nice reply.. I do believe. I actually read an article recently where a person had died on the operating table, but they managed to bring him back to life, and he said he was flying through our Universe, and the sights he saw were amazing. Whether that's true or not, i do believe in God, and I too think there's a lot more going on in our time other than just a life on Earth. :-D
@pattas2005 yes bro some people got a chance to die n get back i believe that. Im so in love with the universe i cant think of another thing once i start thinking of it. but an have other truth i just cant stop been happy to a God who created this big universe by saying let there be light. wow how big how amazing he is. Living with him eternally is the best thing plus we are gona fly we are not gona be controlled by gravity. but to get to this paradise we need r.ship. u ever hear christian rap?
These creatures are seen using high intensity nuclear cameras. NASA is capturing more and more reminiscent of distant stars to see exactly what they are. The Universe is more than what we think it is.
@niznet111....how does life on other planets prove that god doesn't exist? If God is infinite what makes anyone think that he would only be God to earth?
Why are people debating in this video? Can't we all just go "wow"? Who cares if you believe in God or you don't?Keep it to yourself and just enjoy the video you clowns.
Argh! That moment where you try to wrap your head around exactly how large the universe is, how many stars are in it, how many galaxies, then your brain starts to hurt. :P
@Thaulopi How does one determine the pictures are fake, if one has no basis for comparison? What other pictures have you seen that you can use as a common frame of reference?
If you were genuinely sorry for making such an obnoxious comment; you would not have made it.
@myelectroncloud Sir, my acumen tells me that hubble actually found something the moment NASA lifted the protective lid and this magnificent device broadcasted the first pictures of....we do not know, because, all for a sudden, the most important part, the heart of it all, the mirror had a dent. Having a technical background, I can tell you, this specific items had been tested more than a 1000 times and then it failed? One needs to exert the powers that have been given to one.
@Thaulopi Indeed, but that doesn't address my question. The pictures are not fake, but the colours might be. Hubble takes pictures that use filters to detect light outside of the visible spectrum and then combine them to form an image. The objects are very real, if the colour isn't. Of course, you could suppose that scientists spend millions deceiving the population, whilst waiting to discover someone as intelligent as you.
Acumen? I only need exert the powers of my education.
Question : how is it possible to affirm that the radius is 47 billion light years if the Big Bang was done 13,7 billion years ? How can we "see" behind the 13,7 billion line ?
@Beaululu Everything is moving away from us, and we calculate its speed by the frequency of the red shift it emits. We can extrapolate from this information the location an object is likely to be; thus giving us distance. No object that we see can be older than 13.7 billion years, but it can be further away. Up to 46.5 billion light years. Until we discover something else.
Hey , really beautiful pics and amazing music!, I just created a lovely space image video, would appreciate it you take a look as well as my other videos you might like. Thanks ;o) x
Awsome. Thanks for the excellent posting. To all those Religious zealots posting their bigoted comments against those who don't believe there is a gOD.
If we find life on a planet out there, Your Religion would collapse. gOD is a figment of man's imagination. created to keep people in subjugation.
I have offered before on 'youtube' £1,000,000 for absolute proof of gOD. I still have my cash (and the interest!) Because there is NO gOD!, Roll up, Roll up you Zealots BRING ME YOUR REAL PROOF! Ha!
@jeffreydebra1 Because size has nothing to do with age. The furthest object away is receding ever faster, and the light it emits, which will be in constant red shift, takes that much longer to reach us. The frequency of this red shift determines the speed of the object and where it is likely to be. This gives us distance. By extrapolation, this also tells us, that if the object were stationary at the time the light was emitted, (A wavelength inversly proportional to it's frequency), its age.
The numbers are so big, it's unbelievable! There are more stars out there than there are grains of sand on the Earth. Naming a star for yourself or a loved one is like naming yourself after a grain of sand. How infinitely insignificant and infinitely significant we are at the same time.
When people think of our national treasures they often think of the Statue of Liberty or something. But Hubble, the Cassini spacecraft that images Saturn, our two rovers on Mars, etc...these are our moving monuments floating out there delivering information on a mind-blowing scale. Even if you don't understand all the science, or the numbers are too mind-boggling, the images of these other worlds are a fantastic human feat. 21.7 yrs of Hubble launched Apr. 24, 1990.
@pjsbulldog67 10 months ago.. The point I was making was that energy formations that existed billions of years ago may not exist today. Maybe those ancient energy formations went through a black hole or a worm hole and ended up in more recent times. Maybe this mixture is what created life. Life may not be an inevitable development of a planet. It could be as rare as some energy being in the right place at the right time and passing through a black hole and then again reaching the right place.
wow amazing video really opened my mind to believe that life does exsist beyond earth, because how i see it is we are an alien to another planet with life. and i didnt know there was that much out there wow :o
What if in all this incomprehensible enormity we are the only life? What does that do to the value of a leaf? A flower? A person? How valuable is this world we live in? Not saying I'm right, but what if this is really IT?
To our visitors from Zeta Reticuli and the other systems: deepest apologies for the state of our species and our planet. Those who are aware thank you and all other visitors for your assistance and support of our progress towards an enlightened civilization. May our home of Urantia emerge from darkness into the light of intelligent cooperation.
47 Billion Thanks :) some more puzzles solved for me. Zooming into the pot handle at the start, Awesome. Putting those large numbers into perspective, Superb. The photos from HUBBLE explained another way, Fantastic. My HUMBLEST RESPECTS to TECHNOLOGY, & A SHOUT OUT TO OUR RELATIVES ACROSS THE GALAXIES :D :P
This video alone lets me know not to take things too serious, I mean yeah handle your business work take care of your fam but step back and stop making things personal. Everyone is gonna do what they feel reguardless of the outcome. So live enjoy every minute, haters hate cuz their jealous or they cant help that their sick in the head. Think outside the box, be a leader not a follower. Knowlege is wisdom and wisdom is the TRUTH.
I stare up at the milkyway from the English broards, and though I think I know what it is, yet I'm humbled.
In a small rock pool formed in the cliff falls and tides below shakespere cliff in Dover...I see yet another world. Small worlds of life..... fighting, living, being. Again, the millenium they fought to be here. Humbling.
As I travel to work tomorrow.....which will affect me most?
A tide pool in Dover.....or an aspect of the cosmos?
videos like this make me beleive that there is definatly life else were in the universe without a doubt. but make me less inclined to beleive that these other life forms have visited us (ufos). the chances of them stumbling across our planet in a universe which is infinite in size is just too unlikey. not to mention the distances they would have to travel.
@TheLonelyImmortal Not sure if 1080p even existed back then (don't remember). But _youtube_ didn't get 360(p) until march 2008. 720p was available sometimes november 2008 (as an HD alternative). Youtube didn't support 1080p until november 2009!
And dont forget that both the production and recording (user end) of the video at the time had to be in 1080 before even considering uploading in a higher resolution.
You idiots these images are fucking Fake! Go to google image search and type in Hubble Hand and, and take a nice hard look at the computer generated hand giving everyone the middle finger. You have to be a moron to believe these images are authentic!
i dont understand how you can say the universe is 47 billion light years big if we have never seen that distance.... I mean if we were looking into the universe and one day seen that galaxys and starts ect just stopped and it was only blackness i would get it but that number to me seems like a guess.
Science says the universe is roughly about 56 billion LYs in radius. But what are the chances that we are in the center of the "universe"? Not likely, and christians are criticized for thinking that everything revolves around us. My theory is that, if we could instantly travel to the furtherst galaxy we could see, and put a Hubble there, galaxies would fill the view in every direction, just like here in the Milky Way. And that would blow practically every theory in science today.
I have a theory (nothing to base it on, other than a hunch) about the universe. My theology does not fall apart if the theory is right or wrong, but here it is. God said that He put the stars in the sky as proof that He created it all. I believe that science will come to the point where they will either have to admit that this universe is not possible, using scientic methods that eliminate God, or they will continue to create alternate explanations of what science is showing. Continued.
would fucking be nice to scroll to comments after watching a science video on youtube without seeing religious twats poisoning all over the comments with their god rubbish. grow the fuck out of it like the rest of the world you have to catch up with you fucking sick brainwashed americunts.
OUR universe? Don't you think that the REAL owner of the universe might take issue with our claim to possess. The presence of life out there in space is only obvious if life is a random colocation of atoms. If It were that simple then life would be as common as "dirt" so where is it? There is zero evidence for life out there. The purpose of the universe is to aquaint us with the maker. The heavens declare the Glory of GOD.

For some odd reason it still plays on my emotions. Surely there must be other civilizations out there somewhere who share our curiosity and are looking back at us - with tears in their eyes???

@CarMadLV1
Suggest you read The Urantia Book. You have no idea of the wonder of the universe until you read that book. Cheers!
jgfergus 2 weeks ago
@jgfergus Why? The Urantia Book is an entirely moot point since it speaks about something that cannot be proved to exist. It serves only to increase one's pre-existing faith. If God were real, then he erred by creating a defective planet that he did not foresee would continuously kill his innocent creations time and again, and now can’t fix it. So he is neither omniscient or omnipotent but is a flawed and imperfect designer/creator. Thus, he cannot be omnipresent or infinite.

@CarMadLV1 probably those tears are from your creator and the creator of this super vast universe. you are pre-wired to these emotions somehow....may be this tells u to return to him...and believe his oneness.....and also believe his messengers Jesus Christ , Mohammed, Moses, Abraham, David, and many more......God said in his holy book the quran "We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof)" Surah Adh-Dhariyat verse 47
daawad101 1 week ago

@knowmehuh
pattas2005 1 month ago
@pattas2005 yes bro some people got a chance to die n get back i believe that. Im so in love with the universe i cant think of another thing once i start thinking of it. but an have other truth i just cant stop been happy to a God who created this big universe by saying let there be light. wow how big how amazing he is. Living with him eternally is the best thing plus we are gona fly we are not gona be controlled by gravity. but to get to this paradise we need r.ship. u ever hear christian rap?

@Thaulopi How does one determine the pictures are fake, if one has no basis for comparison? What other pictures have you seen that you can use as a common frame of reference?
If you were genuinely sorry for making such an obnoxious comment; you would not have made it.
myelectroncloud 1 month ago
@myelectroncloud Sir, my acumen tells me that hubble actually found something the moment NASA lifted the protective lid and this magnificent device broadcasted the first pictures of....we do not know, because, all for a sudden, the most important part, the heart of it all, the mirror had a dent. Having a technical background, I can tell you, this specific items had been tested more than a 1000 times and then it failed? One needs to exert the powers that have been given to one.
Thaulopi 1 month ago

Beaululu 1 month ago
@Beaululu Everything is moving away from us, and we calculate its speed by the frequency of the red shift it emits. We can extrapolate from this information the location an object is likely to be; thus giving us distance. No object that we see can be older than 13.7 billion years, but it can be further away. Up to 46.5 billion light years. Until we discover something else.

If the size of the universe is 46 billion light years, then how can the universe be less old? Please attempt to answer the question.
jeffreydebra1 2 months ago
@jeffreydebra1 Can you explain your question a little more?
moneymayhem2000 2 months ago

Scale.
A simple thing.
Which will affect me at all?

videos like this make me beleive that there is definatly life else were in the universe without a doubt. but make me less inclined to beleive that these other life forms have visited us (ufos). the chances of them stumbling across our planet in a universe which is infinite in size is just too unlikey. not to mention the distances they would have to travel.

And dont forget that both the production and recording (user end) of the video at the time had to be in 1080 before even considering uploading in a higher resolution.

And that would blow practically every theory in science today.
donf48 2 months ago
I have a theory (nothing to base it on, other than a hunch) about the universe. My theology does not fall apart if the theory is right or wrong, but here it is. God said that He put the stars in the sky as proof that He created it all. I believe that science will come to the point where they will either have to admit that this universe is not possible, using scientic methods that eliminate God, or they will continue to create alternate explanations of what science is showing. Continued.
