  • What exactly is an "F41 sport suspention"?

  • Like Doc Holiday said. "Very cosmopolitan".

  • YEWUROSPORT

  • Is that Ken Howard and Vanna White?

  • I'm surprised they didn't tell us it looks like a Mercedes.

    *wink wink*

  • A lot of celebritys still running in Colombia!

  • @danielnowotny And In Venezuela too... but a little bit rusty and with some adaptations

  • the 1982-1990 Chevrolet Celebrity was assembled in

    Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

    Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States

    Ramos Arizpe, Mexico

    Framingham, Massachusetts, United States

    Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada

    Valencia, Venezuela

    Bogotá, Colombia

  • Cheesy as the commercial is I loved the Eurosports.

  • oh my, it does look... "special"...

  • Boy, 'Today's Chevrolet' certainly sucks!

  • "eurosport" a touch of europe? and how was that?

  • @oceantrolls73 Looks a bit like a Volvo 760

  • i have had a celebrity as a POS backup vehicle for a couple years now and it is a beast. Hopefully i can put some videos up when i get a new camera. This winter i went drift bustin in it and it did just fine i was going through drifts higher than the hood. These cars are TANKS. Too bad they rust out so bad though. If you are looking for a good teenage school car and you can find a eurosport in good shape buy it. It isnt about to get anyone a date. but i drive it more than my truck in snow.

  • This was Chevy trying, desperately, to get yuppies to come into their dealership. Like anyone who wanted a 3-series would buy this instead. Yeah, I know, Bmw's weren't all that reliable either, but they were way more fun to drive and with luxury cars, the image counts. Chevy should've focused more on making cars that didn't break. Then they would've had an image and then could of focused on luxury cars.

  • I didn't realize this was Ken Howard and Sarah Purcell

  • eeeeeeeursport, ... wacka wacka , & so forth .... sounds like the world's cheapest jingle to me

  • Ewwww, thats not a very speacial feeling car then!

  • i think celebrities look great. they remind me of volvos. they could have named it something else though, celebrity sounds kind of lame, and they should not have offered a brown paint job.

  • no one wants to touch gayrope!!!!!

  • @weaponexpert1 wow... That was sooooo original...

  • These 80's cars look beautiful compared to the ugly hot wheels roller skates with 17 inch wheels they make today!

  • AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Design really hit a low point in the '80s. Amazing how GM went from building stunning cars like the '63 Riviera - the epitome of class and elegance - to this boring box on wheels.

  • so shitty lol

  • i wish they still have creepy music today Chevy is thinking about bringing back Heartbeat Song

  • Is 'looks special' code for 'looks like a mules ass?'.

  • Dude i got one of these now, its a blue one and its a piece of shit lol, god i wish it looked like this ^

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEE eurosport.

  • is this something like chysler neon or something wander wy they did t made more better model

  • i like how a simple 4 door family car used to look good, classy, and somewhat sporty. i also liked the 4 headlights of the 80s

  • man forget the woman rest in peace but..... the car is awsome i had one in kansas nd red

  • uro club

  • eeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEE EURO SPORT

  • I had a white 4 door Eurosport.....it ran ok. I can't say it was exciting and I think the "euro" thing was kinda gimmicky. Overall a pretty good car.

  • It was the 80s mate, everything was kinda gimmicky.

  • I owned a regular 1988 Celebrity w/ a 2.8 v6 AND a 1988 celebrity Eurosport 2-door bucket seats- LOADED and it had the Eurosport version of the 2.8 v6. They were pretty to look at BUT I did not trust niether one to go very far because those celebrity's really SUCKED! I followed the scheduled maintenance to the letter and I traded both in for a Honda Accord that I got over 200,000 trouble free miles from. I am Currently driving a 2006 Nissan Altima that was 1 year old when I bought it. GREAT car!

  • My Dad liked his 84' eurosport it had a rare high dome piston 180 HP engine package all the other "H.O" 2.8's were weak. Sadly nobody on the net mentions that package. He could get rubber in second gear with the 4 speed tranny and once beat a 350 camaro pissing off the camaro owner who would not belive that it was just a V6. But it rusted out in 2 years with ironically a "Rusty Jones" sticker in the back window.

  • @GranFury440 not that i don't believe you, but where is the info on this? I know of the Eurosport VR but that's an option/appearance package.

The 135-HP 2.8L HO engine was good for 0-60 in about 10.5 or 11...the 180-HP version you mention probably dropped it into the high-8 second range.

  • @ jaecht83. I really don't care if you believe me or not. After all it's not like I can pull up some info REAL info on it from nowhere. All it seems to mention EVERYWHERE is the info you're saying. Supposedly It was a special option that my dad says no one mentions because no one knew about it even back then. I had a 1992 140hp 3.1 Beretta and I know his 180hp REAL HO Celebrity could SPANK the Berretta, not just outrun but SPANK it. He didn't have a VR. No VR's in 84.

  • @GranFury440 I wasn't flaming you. I was more curious about what you mentioned as it had been the first time I'd heard of it.

  • the guy's head is touching the celing at :11!

  • LOL it's just a warmed-over Citation with black paint and chrome!

  • Citations were X-body vehicles, and the Celebrity/6000/Ciera/Century were A-body platforms.

The X-11 was the black paint Citation!

  • Yes but the A-Body was closely related to the X-Body. The A-Body was basically a slightly larger X-Body w/out all the mechanical and reliability issues.

  • yeah the a bodies were just repackaged X bodies cause the x bodies had too much bad publicity.

  • My friend at high school had one of these cars. His parents gave him it. I had to buy my own car.

  • what car did you have?

  • 1978 4 cylinder Mustang. What a piece of shit but I loved it.

  • Comment removed

  • A touch of europe? Yeah, Sweden and Gothenburg maybe... It looks like a bad copy of a Volvo 740 :P

  • funny how an AMERICAN car company is trying to make themselves more european. really tells you about how much better european imports are compared to these pieces of shit

  • these cars went like stink with the 3.1L in them, great cars

  • Everyone may laugh, but Chevy sold about 400,000 Celebrities in 84'. I am sure Chevrolet would not mind a Celebrity to sell now days.

  • Yes and it was the best-selling car in 1986. But that was back when Americans had pride in our own country and we weren't sell outs.

  • a touch of europe at a chevrolet price?

  • That's about 15 feet of mediocrity.

  • hahaha to true

  • My Dad owned one A 1984, blue with a Rusty Jones sticker in the back window. It was the high output model high comression dome pistons 2.8 liter with 180hp. Kid you not he actually beat a similar year V8 Camaro in a race! When they guy founf out the car tht beat him was a V6 he got angry and said there was no way a V6 couldv'e beat his V8 camaro. Didn't take long for the celebrity to rust out lol after a few years it rusted all the way through the trunk lid. Bad metal in those years.

  • Why does the woman nod at the camera like she's signaling that man is holding her hostage?

  • LMAO. She's doing it to signal agreeance with the guy saying "this is today's chevrolet." To me she's got a "you better believe it" kinda look"

  • @cjym LOL!

  • That doesn't look half bad I like the two-tone color

  • EEEEEurosport LOL I Miss Mine

  • very hot car!!

  • my dad owned one identical to the commercial

  • "This is exciting!"

I can imagine that. Very akin to substituting real butter in lieu of margarine on white bread toast.

  • Hey, what's Coach Reeves doing in this commercial?

  • What was really dumb about these was that they built Eurosports w the Iron Duke, column shift, and crank windows. IMO, All Euro's should have had the V6, floor shift and pwr windows/ locks/ driver seat.

  • What if someone wanted the fuel economy that went with the Iron Duke. You have to please the most people.

  • @emb2580 I tooooootally agree with you... the Iron Duke was a terrible engine.. especially before they put in balance shafts..... it was horrible...noisy... underpowered...

The 2.8 Multi Port FI V6 was an awesome, high reving V-6!

  • @irishsights terrible?? hardly. they were underpowered and noisy but they would run like that forever. not many engines built today have the durability of the iron duke. if you could put up with the noise that damn engine would run forever.

  • @ad356 My 4cylinder has been through things that would have easily blown a 6 cylinder. I have done more offroading in my celebrity than in my 2wd truck, mostly because the celebrity is my p.o.s. car but when youre driving through snowy fields with a car you learn to love the engine sound, even if it does sound like a ricegrinder.

  • @jgwentworth1500 i know they were a tough engine, i was agreeing with you. :)

  • @ad356 Oh i didn't mean it as an argument, i was reinforcing your comment. Have a good one.

  • "straightens out curves" haha too bad they couldn't curve out some of the straights on such a boxy car lol

  • Puke, what pitiful acting and a very nerdy commercial with ear-torturing soundtrack! Oh yeah, it was a 1984 car ad......with northerners trying to act European lol!

  • it's a pity that it's FWD

  • i've always like the Celebrity and the Pontiac 6000 which shares a platform

  • Yeah...

  • lllllllaaaaaaaaa Euroshit!

    celebrishitty

  • hehe davidsfarm

  • I had a chance to buy one identical to the commercial and passed it up a few years ago.

  • I don't know why, but I still want one of these cars! It has to be the Eurosport edition!

  • At 0:11, he looks a little...cramped

  • ugly damn pos

  • Buen automovil, excelente ensamble, el mejor de su categoria, excelente potencia, muy buen agarre en las curvas, de lo mejor, para mi el mejor modelo de Celebrity fue en Euroesport 1986.

  • That's Ken Howard (Gweneth Paltrow's dad and star of the '70's show "The White Shadow") and Sarah Purcell (Host of '70's "Real People").

  • Paltrow's Dad?? What??

  • yeah, her mom is Blythe Danner married to Ken Howard.

  • Her father is the late Bruce Paltrow.

  • You're right!

  • EEEEEEEEurosport! I love that!!! BRING BACK CHEESY JINGLES TO TV ADS!

  • I know, right? It's so corny, but it keeps you from looking away!

  • I remember my dad always had these for his company car. I remember one year they switched him from a Eurosport to a Pontiac 6000 as a kid I thought they looked the same.. Ahh memories

  • The guy driving the car...wasn't he in an episode of The Golden Girls? LOL

  • I like the Celebrity and the idea of an American car with a European flair, but with engine, suspension, brakes, and steering like in the Celebrity, it was far from European.

  • hilarious! "special" f41 steering makes curves straight! This now makes the celebrity handle like a VW, Audi, or other euro/german cars! can't stop laughing!

  • My mom had this same car. Hers was white.

  • This is exciiiiting... lalalala... Eurooooosport! A touch of Europe... LOL

  • I have an 84 celebrity.

    I call it the Orwell.

  • I have a 1986 Celebrity Eurosport Coupé, I love my car!

  • My friend had one that he drove to high school in the late 80's. The thing had fallen apart and the paint was shot by then. Now it is R.I.P.

  • my dads clebrity is isa piece of shit

  • A touch of Europe... LOL.

  • Those cars were dependable?

  • That is the funniest thing i have ever seen in my enitre life! EUROSPORT!!!!LALALALLAAL

  • i bought an 88 wagon and its the best $90 i ever spent its straight and runs awsome. cheap and dependable

  • omm85: The car was not for Celebrities, the car itself was a Celebrity. It was good looking, best selling car in the US for 1986, it modernized the V6 and front drive. Besides, by today's standards what car from 1984 actually did look good?

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeurosport!

    i remember that ad.

  • Cheesy huh?

  • Well, I wouldn't call it a piece of shit as the FWD A-bodies were very reliable and dependable cars.

But, it wasn't really a car to be very proud of, either as they weren't exactly the greatest-looking.

As for what kind of celebrity would drive it, I can only guess a desperate one.

  • When these cars debuted in 1982, they had modern styling. Of course it doesn't look as good today, You really can't say anything bad about the A-bodies, GM sold tons and tons of them from 1982 to 1996 and they're still extremely common on the road, 12 years later.

  • Fair enough. Boxy was the style back then as carmakers tried to make simpler vehicles, and the A-bodies were more refined takes on that style.

Of course, the standard changes with cars like the Ford Taurus.

And, echoing the positives on the FWD A-bodies, they were good cars as they were cheap, reliable, and economical. If you need basic transportation, you can't go wrong with these cars.

  • Chevrolet Celebrity. Yeah....

  • Why did they call this a celebrity when no celebrity would ever drive this car

  • Probably because Chevy said "You Would Be a Celeberity if you drove a EuroSport".

  • What if you had a Celebrity that wasn't a Eurosport?

  • This is the car in the junk yard today.

  • The music of this ad is amazing. Wasnt disco out in 1984?

  • not in europe ,disco never died here lol

  • Well, I'd rather "Leave in Silence" than catch "Night Fever."
