I'm pretty sure NTSC standard IS 60Hz. If it ran slower, it isn't NTSC.

Everyone knows for a fact that the video standard for Europe was PAL which ran at 50Hz.

If you were used to it (which you obviously had to be, since almost everything was like that) then it would seem like a fine speed.

It's like me and FPS. I thought 30 FPS was a fast and smooth standard. Then I discovered 60 fps.

In sonic 1, the music played according to the frame rate of the gameplay. PAL Genesis, or Mega Drives, only run at 50hz per second compared to 60hz that NTSC Genesis ran on, hence why the music in Sonic 1 was considered slower.

Reason this version is Slower is because of the Frequency Band Europe used for power and also TV Standard, aka PAL, hence why gameplay was slower along with music
