This complete absence of concrete argument reveals the basic issue, and SFM should just come out and be honest about it: this campaign is, at root, based on a simple dislike of and distaste for homosexuality, not on any reasoned-out consideration of the consequences of same-sex marriage.
'Scotland for Marriage' is not campaigning to ban same-sex marriage, same-sex marriages are already illegal. The 'Scotland for Marriage' campaign wants any change to the law to be voted on by a referendum.
It's 2% of the population taking up civil partnerships, but what percentage is that of the gay population? If you're going to be divisive then at least be consistent.
Also, it is very easy to misunderstand or scew statistics. For example, there are more people alive today who know how to make flint tools than there ever were when flint tools were the norm, but the percentage has dropped so dramatically that if the population hadn't incresed at such a rate then there should be none left by now.
The first speaker talks about others being arrogant in the most arrogant way. This man is incredibly mean spirited and disrespectful. He says the government should not be concerned with minorities yet mentions the concerns of a muslim minority. These arguments are hypocritical and irrational. These peoples views are despicable.
Gordon Wilson should be ashamed to call himself a Nationalist for threatening the Independence cause with loss of support from the religious far right.
Small independent countries such as Iceland, Norway, Belgium and even nominally Roman Catholic Argentina, Portugal and Spain have all established same-sex marriage.
Scotland urgently needs separation of church and state.
As the cardinal said marriage is a basic human right! So what's the problem? I thought marriage is the was a declaration of love? I know many "straight" people who are married and then had kids and split up the kids aren't in any danger and if I say so bright individuals. I also know straight people who are married and do not desire kids, dose this invalidate their bond. I am gay and have no wish to EVER get married but i do believe in a choice. I believe in freedom. I believe in a better world.
I support love and loving, healthy relationships - no matter race, sexuality or creed. Society will not break down, because not every single person is gay.
there is a demand from the Scottish people myself and everyone else that is fighting for gay marriage. Marriage is about 2 people that love each other and are committed to spending the rest of their lives together. Just because 2 of the same sex can not naturally bring a child into this world doesn't mean that they could not raise one. This video speaks about implications of bringing this subject into schools, children are more aware than our generations were then, and aren't as narrow-mind.
