I think it's interesting that he put her shoes back on her feet. He didn't let a stage hand do it. He didn't just give them to her and watch her do it. I guess that shows how attentive he was with her.
@artsylovelylady I agree. Something significant was acted out on stage and I can't put my finger on it. Both June and Jonny had that wonderful old soul energy.
I watched her dance at Jones Country down in Colmesneil, Texas about this time...80,81,82........don't remember the date exactly, it was magic..........I'd give my next month's pay to be back watching it again. That was also when I got turned onto Marty Stuart's picking.......he was playing with Cash at the time.
I always thought June Carter could hardly contain herself from dancing whenever she sang. I thought she was clogging but thanks to this video, I now know she was "flat footing." Must be a "Clench Mt." tradition from where she grew up handed down from one generation to another. Mother Maybelle sure didn't "flat foot." So, don't know where she got it from. I love Johnny's gallantry helping her get her shoes back on.
This brought smiles and laughter to our faces. What a beautiful fun loving person June was. She also had the beautiful long hair too. How we miss both of them, but their music lives on in our hearts.
@QChord4Fun Yes wasnt her hair just beautiful.. Rosanne used to say that she and her sisters would brush her hair all the time and just loved her hair as well. To the poster of this video thank you. I surely am much happier for getting to actually see June Carter Flat footin.
If that wasnt the nicest video of June being who she was! Fantastic! It dont get much real than that. June was old enough to be my grandma but I always thought since a little boy she was the prettiest lady. Now that I see her flat footing work makes me like her that much more. Such a endearing lady. John's love for her was undeniable. Thanks for showing this one. From this its clear why I am a big fan of both of them.
haha that was the best dance ever! i think he only helped her with her shoes because it looked like she was having trouble with her top lol, watch how she covers herself while john gets her shoes lol
Tuckergrl11, this is handed down, not taught in books. Most old timers that learned this dance couldn't read. The same is true of the different Native American dialects.
THANK YOU ENTY01 FOR THIS VIDEO. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND A COPY OF THIS CONCERT IN WEMBLEY FOR QUITE A WHILE. I DECIDED THAT THEY DID NOT RECORD IT. BUT NOW I KNOW THEY DID. CAN YOU PLEASE DIRECT ME TO WHERE I CAN FIND IT. THANK YOU HELENE MCNICHOLAS

That's marty Stuart, playing fiddle, when he was in Cash's band, sporting a Mustache/beard. I seen all of them in 1981.
