  • hmm...i couldn't get it undone so i went and bought an air compressor an impact wrench the bolt came straight undone.

  • music just plain sucks shit

  • I will never feel confident using the starter to force the crankshaft bolt to loosen up. Done wrongly, a lot of things could go wrong big time and a lot of engine components could be seriously damaged. IMHO, the best way is to use a home-made crankshaft pulley stopper (fabricated from a simple plank and screws) and a breaker bar to slowly exert torque on the crankshaft bolt. There is absolutely no risk involved. Some YT videos on YT are showing this simple but effective method.

  • could of done with out the music, thanks. And if you had an air impact, why the fuck bother with (of all things) a wheel brace?

  • Oh yeah! You are the man! I did this with a breaker bar on a Mitsubishi Eclipse. This is after trying a strap wrench, chain wrench, pulley spinning tool, pry bars and breaking screw drivers. My problem was I couldn't get leverage anywhere to keep the crank from spinning. Thanks again!

  • Crazy method but I like it...

  • I see some leakage...hmmm

  • He's Jeff Fiffe, in his other video he used an impact wrench. But in this one he did it another way......I'm guessing this one is behind the scene.

  • uhm_ï_fêël_sÒ_loNêly_tÓdAY

  • Try this at your own peril. If the woodruff key gives way you got a smashed valve or two. If it doesnt have a woodruff key on the crank like a Zetec Fiesta 1.25 say, then your in shit street pretty quick.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about then you probably should get someone who does to get the job done for you.

  • ANYONE NOTICED THAT THIS IDIOT HAS AN IMPACT WRENCH AND IS STILL DOIN SHIT BY TURNIN THE ENGINE TO LOOSEN THE BOLT, YOU CAN SNAP THE BOLT OR BREAK THE STARTER GEAR

  • @kazimtullah

Yeah I noticed that, why use that crappy technique when you have the right gear to the job properly on hand? Hopefully the starter teeth on the flywheel are on a seperate ring and they slipped a bot loose!

  • @kazimtullah

Yeah I noticed that, why use that crappy technique when you have the right gear to the job properly on hand? Hopefully the starter teeth on the flywheel are on a seperate ring and they slipped a bit loose!

  • thanks man i had no clue how i was gona do that

  • this what a hack job is.messing up the inside fender covers

  • this what a hack job is

  • good job its not a free floating crank, then it would be jiggled.

  • Try this on a honda, I dare you....

also, you might want to unplug the coil or something so it cant fire.

  • @pdgeman you cant cause the engine spins the wrong direction and it tightens the bolt XD

  • GET A AIR IMPACT

  • yes man DR DRE right on it u need sum bob marley tune and a big bob marley spliff 2 celebrate top job man !

  • umm yeah, but why didyou turn it back on by hand and have to use the impact to take it off again????

  • this guy never tells you he has a v6 not a 4 cylinder do not try this if you have a 4 and make sure you disconnect the spark plug wires so that the car does not start

  • rough

  • Warning: On some Honda vehicles (and perhaps others) this starter trick will actually tighten the bolt even more.

Thats because not all engines turn in the same direction. Check which way the crankshaft bolt loosens on your vehicle and then double check and then triple check that what your doing and the direction the starter will turn actually loosens the bolt for your vehicle.

  • @crxdelsolsir

You are absolutely correct. Very good point.

  • I am subbing to you just because of this video!!! I have been working for hours on this bolt and tried you trick and in seconds it was off!!! you da man!!!1

  • Nice trick, but tragic music.

  • LMAO!

  • awesome idea, ty, i think i will try to put my own touches on the process but all and all a very good idea

  • fucking shit music..............

  • @Rhin0Neil u probably listen to rap or something then because thats music

  • The music..... just annoying and not needed. Its a bolt removal video...not your typical music video type stuff. You should make a video of how to bake cookies with a real hardcore song for exacmple by Soulfly or Lamb of God ....the effect would be the same damn thing.

  • to much trouble I just pay the mechanic $ 600 and be done with it.

  • How do you tighten the bolt back for reinstallation to the right torque specifications?

  • @solsur5r

Put the vehicle in park, or if you have a standard, put it in highest gear.

  • @solsur5r use a torque wrench

  • @solsur5r well obviously you just wire the starter up backwards lol. this is a bad idea

  • @thompsonjt20 hahahahaha nice one!!!!!! sooo Funnnyy!!!

  • @solsur5r I asked my self that question too!

I guess that's when you use the right tool

  • Don't try this if your crankshaft is not keyed to the cambelt sprocket. As the nut comes loose you will lose valve timing, with the crankshaft still spinning you will bend your valves. Same effect as if your cambelt breaks.

  • u r welcome guys

  • nice trik props worked like a breezy

  • Try that on a civic you'll be scratching your head the whole day.

  • yeh!!!! it doesnt work for civics!!!!!!!!

  • what do you mean dont try this on a honda the pulley nut is still right hand thread

  • Comment removed

  • @uknowhuidiz , civincs the engine cranks counter-clockwise therefore you are tightening the bolt instead of loostening it. Just figured it out the hard way.

  • what a clever nigger

  • I Bet you feel good now lmao racism will never die until you do

  • then long live it

  • lmao!!!

  • this is a very unprofessional way of undoing bolts. a high torque impact gun should be used as it will damage other parts of the engine

  • @stevietheg2580

This technique works if you're in a jam,but

I don't even use impact guns because the hammering is bad for the bronze bearings on the rod ends.

They're not made for the shock of impact guns.

i just make, borrow or rent a crank holder tool.

  • I dare all of you to do that on a civic

  • You would rip the front end of the car off first! lol!

  • I'm gonna have to try this with my 98 Intrigue. DO NOT DO THIS WITH A HONDA! They run backwards.

  • Aside from this, An impact gun works too....gotta be a good pneumatic one....elecs aren't strong enough.

  • Shit some 1/2 air wrenches cant get the damn things off of a Honda. 3/4 drive and your set

  • Thanks! Spent the last hour trying to get the bloody bolt undone and just tried this and it worked first try!

  • did this & it worked..

  • try that with a honda.. FAIL

  • I had that Issue with my integra. I put a breaker bar extending straight out front pulley while being supported by a jack stand. Next I hooked an 18" pipe wrench on the handle of the breaker bar and extended my leverage by using 4' of 1 1/4" steel pipe over the handle of my pipe wrench. To avoid having all of this leverage spin the pulley, make sure your car is in gear, and I also used a chain wrench around the pulley with the handle propped up against the frame . WORKED PERFECT!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Not at my Autozone.

  • that looks dangerous....

  • nice shitty job, yo dont know what re doin.

  • removing the pulley that way will cause damage to the flywheel

  • well your Crank pulley turns right.

mine turns LEFT..and that fokin shit is gay!!!

so this video is useless for me.

  • your crank pulley turns left?

  • need voice audio go to Mazda 626 Water Pump Replacement

  • "expert" village! lol

  • great video, needs some voice audio to explain what you are doing

  • Wish I could have heard what the mechanic said .

  • thanks man you helped alot

  • Ahhh the adventures of shadetree mechanic continue enjoy

  • Great idea, but how are you supposed to re install that bolt without the usual tool u need to take it off?thx..broken mx3

  • Neat trick, just don't try this on a Honda or Acura since the engine turns the other direction! It will tighten it even more or break it.

  • what about a nissan maxima

  • You're a genius man!!! It worked a treat, I'd tried everything to get that bolt loose. thanks again

  • Your Welcome

  • I've got a seized pulley bolt so i'll give this a try thanks a lot for sharing this tip
