@seifukusha hmmm shoegaze was kinda My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Swervedriver, Loop, and Lush. Curve are typically lumped in with that scene (which I loved and still do) but I think Curve were actually really out on their own. There wasn't really anybody else like them and still isn't! Very dense and structured riffs, not really atmosphere focussed - too rhythmic and powerful. Curve tends to leap out and grab you by the throat rather than let you sink into their sound...

So says my head. :)

How curve weren't huge is beyond me. WHen you consider especially how bad most British indie was in the 90s, with the yanks ruling the roost, curve could have really gone somewhere, they had the sound to crossover. THen garbage came and nicked their sound and watered it down :(

This was the greatest travesty of the 90's! Universal pulling out all the backing for Curve's first major label album. They were the reason the world at large still doesn't know Curve and why the US is still full of shitty punk acts, emo trash, and hip-hop rubbish. Damn them!!! Come Clean is still one the 10 Best albums of the 90's!!!!!

Agreed, Curve were brilliant. I discovered them kind of late thanks to the track they had on the Doom Generation soundtrack. I bought Doppelganger and Cuckoo on a road trip the following week and then fast forward years later and my name is listed in the insert for their final album "The Way of the Curve" and I've had a chance to share my own music with Dean.
