  • I love this.... 1. Because it's so laid back and simple, and he is spot on with voice, guitar, everything. 2. Because you can tell musicians are in the audience...no mindless screaming girls that care more about his looks. They applaud when appropriate, but let him play and soak it alllllll in.

  • "Alright class, today's lesson: This is what you can become when you drop out of our school!"

  • This is where John attended college, actually.

  • looks good with the short hair

  • what kind of looping station is he using there? I know he uses a line-6 delay modeler every now and again.

  • man you couldn't hold this thing still for anything could you....

  • so good listening to him without the screaming girls!

  • 2:29-2:32 my favorite part of the song

  • @Whatisthescore just because you cant play like him and didnt get accepted? haha alright.

  • Who else likes the fact that at 0:19 he magically pulls out a pick from between his fingers ?

  • @shesaidskyline you can kinda see the pick between his index and middle finger on the jumbo screen at around 0:14

  • anyone know how john does those backwards rake note fills? :D cheers, toby.

  • i'll never get tired of listening to a good sounding strat

  • so simple

  • his voice is so gorgeous, it's sick...in a perfectly awesome way. undeniable talent!

  • oh, and of course, that playing's pure magic right there. i've immersed myself in "Gravity" countless times (both live and recorded versions) and fresh revelations emerge every time.

  • omg why does this cut outtt?

you can totally tell that he just rocks it for a while after the video cuts off. awesome vid though, great performance

  • his guitar playing is so smooth in this wow!!! from 2:05 on its just perfect, what a great sound and style, this is almost as good as his who did you think i was solo performance!

  • Would have been much nicer without the constant playing with the camera - making noise throughout the whole thing.

  • Does anybody know the chord progression for 3.36-3-42? I know the notes are G, A, B, D, C, B, A and back to G.. But what are the chords he uses?

  • anyone know what amp he's playing in this video?

  • I could be wrong, but in the video at Berklee with him playing this song with the other guy it looks as if it's a hot rod deluxe. Is he using it here? I'm not sure, I know he usually uses Two-Rock amps if that helps

  • @miller434 it's not an hot road, its the blck1 (black one)... and yes he uses always a custom made special two rock amp, i think there are only 25 around here, the others are owned by jm

  • im pretty impressed by how well he always sounds live, its one of the signs of true talent imo

  • This guy has true talent. Don't let the machine change you John.

  • the bend on 0.15 is just amazing :)

  • Anyone know what key this song is in?

  • in G major

  • Thanks.

  • well said my friend

  • dumb ass

  • The last musical idea in this song is what gets me. Beautiful.

  • this is not unplugged,,,, hes playing an electric guitar,,,,,,

  • yeah, we already established that.

  • I like how you say something sarcastic THEN say (insert sarcasm here)

  • I believe the term for this kind of performance is "stripped"

  • nah. the term is EPIC.

  • well it is after per definition plugged but you can call it a great solo performance!:)

  • Its so quiet in there you could hear a pin drop.

    perfect...

  • I love you John :D

  • good job brother! bring it.

  • thanks for posting this!

at around 0:50.. why does he say "i am" ?

  • someone in the front row shouted something but I couldn't hear it when it happened.

  • he was just saying he is down...probably joking

  • Thank you, John!

  • great video .... i was there today and recorded 80 minutes of the clinic with my mini Disc recorder ... i got a great stereo recording to add to this video =) rock on !
