Mae West made a great impression on popular culture in her heyday. Her sultry character appeared in many other cartoons during the thirties, forties and even into the sixties, often precluded by a few bars of "Frankie And Johnny" heard her. Some of the dialogue heard here is directly from her film, "Klondike Annie." Mae West polished her trademark image to perfection and is remembered and frequently quoted to this day. Thanks for posting this gem!
The British Royal Air Force dubbed life vests "Mae Wests" because of rhyming slang. Another example is Sweeney Todd" for "Flying Squad" or Lionel Blair for "Nightmare". I won't mention Helen Hunt :o)
The 'Mae West" Blonde was incredibly sexy for a cartoon of this era. She never returns in spite of her popularity-censors.
