  • nice car! where did you get the super charger i want one

  • aw man! great lil miata!

cool to see the love. good work!

  • sweet bro, had some history with that ride =D

  • Lovely video... i wish i could love mine " 10th anniversery" like this, but there is something missing in our friendship.. its not your fault miata, its me....

  • great video. i always like when people follow the story of the car and how they built it up.i feel like you appreciate your car more that way.

  • I have a question to MX-5 expert.

I have got a 1993 s-special, but the wheel is not standard.

what is the standard size for wheel/tyre ?

or what is the typical good upgrade for a 1993 s-special?

    many thanks

  • Well one important thing is offset, Miata wheels have a 45mm offset, and don't go wider then 195mm on the tires. The most important thing is the weight, stock 14 inch alloy rims where 12.3 pounds, in 1994 they went to 10.3 pounds (the BBS rims where 9.6 lbs.) unsprung weight is very important to a light car like a Miata

  • Thanks for your info.

Is that 10.3 pounds BBS rims also 14 inch?

I should try to find some :)

  • In 1992 they came in 14" and later in 1995 they came in 15", good luck finding them and if you do they will be VERY expensive. You can also try to find the 1994 M edition polished wheels, they are also very light. Again they are expensive. Trust me, I sold my 94 and the guy installed some big rims on it, I drove it and it was a totally different car, handled like an ox cart, it was bad, felt very heavy, felt like there was no power steering, it just upset the cars balance horribly.

  • I agree, I put some light aftermarket 15" on my 94 and was surprised by the improvement. ps check out a few driving clips I made (Couldnt have too much fun as the missus was in the car!)

  • I'm on my 3rd 1990, 1996 and now another 1990.

    Partner has a 2001

  • r u gay

  • course this goof ball c2100 is gay

  • Nice. Well done

  • is that a carbon fiber HT?

  • No, it's fiberglass. It is very light though, about 70 Lbs.

  • Nice work on the Maita and video. Are you a mechanic, and did you you do all the work yourself? I have a 1991 and a 1996 Miata, which I have done restoration work and minor repairs. Nothing like your efforts! thanks for the vid.

  • I am not a mechanic by trade, just out of necessity. I've done everything except shocks, they are actually harder then replacing the motor! Two Miatas huh? which is your favorite?

  • The 91, I have owned it for over 10 years. The 96 I purchased and fixed up for my wife this past spring. Both are lookers and run good, but the engines are basically stock. If I knew how, I would attach pictures of each. I guess I am going to have a make a video like you did and embed pictures and such. I am new at this video and UT stuff. I just did a test upload the other day, and just started cruising around UT for things of interest.

  • no way dude! shocks on the miata are a cake walk. i can do mine in less than an hour for all four corners. just don't do it the way the book says that way takes FOREVER. just get in there and do what makes sense.

  • i have a white 94' model w/soft top

  • hey i just bought a miata ......few hours ago.... i notice the car's engine is quite loud, and the road noise is really bad....and the suspension is very choppy...also the engine's rmp goes very high at 60mph it hits 3000 rpm.... is this usually for a miata, my miata is 1995, has 68k miles on it

  • Hope you didn't pay much for it, just kidding, the engine noise could be bad (what kind of noise?), check the oil, change it if its dirty, road noise could just be tires, or your just not used to a convertible car yet, suspension could be shocks(struts) or the rims are to big (aftermarket wheels kill miatas) as far as the rpm revs is it and auto or stick?

  • i paid 4 k for it, i had a mechanic to go check out the car when we bought he said it's in good condition. it's a stick it revs to 3000 at 60mph, everything on the car is stock, oil change is done a week ago. i think im might just not use to the convertible yet.

  • for a stick shift 60mph @ 3000rpm is normal. Is the noise form the motor a knock or clicking? with 68,000 there really should be nothing wrong with it unless it was abused. (starved for oil, overheated etc.) enjoy motoring....

  • Nice car! I have a red 95 also

  • wats th ename of the first song???

  • Zoom zoom zoom by Serapis Bey

  • thanks

  • hehe, I get yelled at all the time for going to fast too.

  • These are pretty sick, I would've gone with a turbocharger with a little 4 cylinder like that though because superchargers are known for steeling up to 20% of an engines power before giving any. sick car

  • Ultimately turbos do make more power, but I like the snappy throttle response of a supercharger, turbos have great mid and top end power, but light to light I can even beat STI's! turbos are also a little tricky to install and have their own problems (under hood heat, higher intake temp, oiling etc) plus plumbing it all with an intercooler. I also don't care for the lag, people who have driven my cars say it feels like it has an 8. The power is instant, and in corners its hard to time the turbo.

  • I bet, do you have an idea of the power to weight ratio on the car? true. volkswagen just came out with a twin charge system that uses a supercharger for low end power and a turbocharger for top end power. If you tried centrifugal you might get the best of both worlds, what kind of supercharger was that it looked like a roots type.

  • Only a guess but I think 200~210 hp, and just a squeak under 2300 lbs. I have seen a MINI with a turbo/supercharger set up, looks like more hassle than it's worth. It is a roots type (helical twist), they are much quieter and more instant, and less money and and and (trying to justify why I have a puny S/C). Oh yea I remember over 12 psi you really have to bullet-proof the motor top and bottom.

  • true but it makes a good sleeper

  • I would save and see if you could put a 13b in it.

  • Couldn't I just save a little more and get a whole RX-7?

  • no.

you can get an entire rx for about the same price :P

  • why would you put an inferior engine into that car?

  • keep us posted if u do any more modifications

  • I am sure there will be more, I got a new supercharger outlet to put on it and Id like to put a 6 speed into it someday...

  • lol, my friends laugh at my 180 whp, when most have over 200... Until weight becomes their downfall, jejeje. Yeah, i need new injectors, i was thinking on getting 550cc ones cause im thinking on getting the mp62. But im also on the need of a new clutch, suspension, wheels (mine are in bad shape). I also want to get rid of some rattles around the car, and fixing the dreaded idle problem.

  • So what was the cause of your idle problem? mine idles like it's got a big cam in it, until it warms up, about 30 seconds and its fine, but before that it's sounds and shakes like it's going to stall.

  • if you are getting bigger injectors, you have to get some kind of engine management. Megasquirt has a great one if you have an older miata... unfortunately for me, I have a mazdaspeed miata, meaning I had to buy a hydra lol. freaking 2 bills for the same thing you can get for 800 :(

  • Oh, and how about engine management? Im runing an Emanage ultimate, with the factory 270cc injectors (maxed out) jeje...

  • I don't have the $1500 for a link icu, I just have the timing control unit Jackson supplies, I did put bigger injectors (312cc) in to keep it from leaning out, I'll find out in oct. when I go back to the track and see if it's any faster. Your stock injectors are at 100% duty cycle under boost, hope you have a fuel/air gauge.

  • Nice vid dude, I see you got ur JRSC to 10 psi. What pulley setup you used? No intercooling? Dangerous... jejee...

  • It has the big boost upgrade, it came with; fuel pump, pulley and regulator, I get 9 to 9.5 psi on the hot days, and it peaks out at 10+ on the cold days, I am spraying alcohol to keep it cool now. so far so good, no meltdowns yet.

  • Nice, i get about 8 psi with the intercooler, and 182 whp in hot humid weather. Mine is an 2002 with vvt too, so i get less out of it. What is your whp range?

  • Don't really know, the 1995 had 128hp and a 2002 had 142hp to start with, so you have a 14hp head start already. I never had it dynoed, I just thought it would be disappoiting to see 150 or 160 whp, my friends with V8 would laugh.
