That's not true at all. I know you're defensive in protecting your art. But, to say something like that is ridiculous! Muay thai is a "real" art. They punch and kick real opponents just like letwei. Your argument is with traditional martial arts that say they can knock out kickboxers with a magic punch. Your argument isn't with full contact fighters. Look at the video muay thai vs bando. It goes both ways. It makes you look ignorant to blanket statement that burmese are always better. Peace.

@kingstaffy actually in the old day (20-30yrs ago)muay thai just use same rule with muay burma. but because of hardcore martial art that's why muay thai have to adapt rule to try to make it more sport.Infact muay thai-burma come from same root and combination in 16th when King Bayennon occupie thailand during 12 many king of art has absorb to both country.

Khmerdos, the problem is that people want to unite south asian boxing, but they have so much pride that they want to say it's different. If it's different... It should be a different sport. If it is almost the same....then compete with the same rules, but don't be mad if another countries athlete is superior. I think they are all great and should compete internationally under kickboxing. The best athletes will win, and we can be proud of all of them for competing. No racism!

thailand doesn't want to let the smaller, less popular sports get on their bandwagon. Thailand has worked really hard to promote their sport around the world and they don't want to change the name now after they have created a commercial empire on thai boxing. Think of all the shirts and boxing shorts they sell with muay thai written on them. I don't think it's because thailand thinks they're better than burma or myanmar.

If it is almost the same....then compete with the same rules, but don't be mad if another countries athlete is superior.
