I love Freddy. He is my favorite horror character. To bad they ruined him with all the sequels. I was so glad to watch the remake and see a serious Freddy for a change. He was never meant to be the comic he turned into. In the original his taunting was bone chilling scary. After that it started going down hill. New Nightmare made him scary again but that wasnt really Freddy like we know. Anyways either way the character is brilliant

Or John Carpenters remake of "The Thing", which I thought surpassed the original. This being my opinion, Jackie Haley's performance was really the only redeeming quality the remake had.
