  • When you hear this at 2 a.m., it is a little startling!

  • Man, this owl was somewhere near my house. It woke me up at 11 pm and scared me to death I didnt know what it was. Well I knew it was some sort of owl, but I didnt know what kind. Least now that I know I feel sort of better.

  • CcC Baykuş Reiz CcC

  • At 3 Am I heard this owl for the Frist time last night. I thought a was a creepy man out using bird code to break into someones house. Its actully this sound I heard. Wow what a beauty. I hope he comes around again.

  • I heard barred owls "cackling: in Stockbridge, Georgia for the first time ever last night. My aunt told me there was a family of them on her property. I have never heard such cackling by owls before. I came on Youtube to see what they look like. Great video!

  • We have them in the city, too. One night, I was sick with a head cold and kept waking up, and at one point I woke and heard a barred owl hooting softly outside my window. It was actually very soothing and I drifted off and slept soundly, and in the morning I was much better. It's like he wanted me to sleep so I could be better. :)

  • are these in north carolina? o_o !! so cutee

  • @satsuki26 YES I hiked the appalachian trail and they were all over north carolina... especially at 4 AM in the morning they would be answering eachother CONSTANTLY.. plus Im from around winston and I live out in the country and they are everywhere around here

  • HEY MISTER OWL! LETS TALK ABOUT JUSTIN BEVER! "HOO?" JUSTIN YOU KNOW THE CRAZY KID? JUSTIN BEVER? "HOO"? I SAID JUSTIN BEVER! "HOO? "

  • lmao <3 awww (:

  • You got them all worked up, dude. I remember calling up several one night behind our house when I was a teen. Eventually, there were four of them in one tree carrying on, making those monkey calls and rocking back and forth so much that the leaves began to shake. It was interesting, for the next several weeks some of them would return to our backyard and begin to hoot until I would come out of the house. It was like they knew me.

  • I think we have these in northern Illinois, what do you think?

  • it sounds like its barking *0*

  • I wonder how they think.

  • He looks at you like hey what is wrong with that one...that is one sick looking owl. Where's its feathers=D

  • @stayAU lol

  • You have the sounds, but not the cadence.

The cadence should sound like "Who-cooks-for-you...who-cooks-for-you{trill here}"

  • It's a mating call. The owl is looking down saying, whoa, I dunno about you. I'll wait for a cuter owl.

  • Found the Owl that hooted at my Girl Friend when she went to leave the tent for a early morning bathroom break. It was right above the tent! It was LOUD!

    Thanks!

  • @sethleedy You have no idea. These things can be heard up to a mile a way when they really wanna belt out a caterwaul. They are just horny lol.

  • Dude! It looks like he is staring right at you a couple of times! Did he see you at all?

    Very nice, informative video.

  • AWESOME!

  • This ranks up there with my favorite youtube videos. Well done!

How do you flutter you're toungue like that? On the "alll" part of you're owl call? you did a great job of getting the owls attention and getting it to respond back!

  • I use my throat to make the roll at the end of the hoot...

  • i take it your a turkey hunter others just don't understand us great job man

  • hes like SHUT UP!!

  • LoOLOlLol I'm guessing you're the awkward one that wrecks the owl conversation. Funny.

  • Owls are my favorite lol

  • LOL

  • We have those around my house. I love it when it gets around mating season and they freak out like that, with the wildly varying sounds - its scary as hell when you're camping out and hearing them, but at the same time its majestic and beautiful.

Owls are easily my favorite birds. Next to the big black Cockatoos. :D

  • lol i bet you love big black cocka-2's

  • Just curious, do you practice being an absolute idiot?

Or are you one of the unlucky few it comes naturally to? =\

  • ROFL! owl WOOT!!!

  • why not discuss ur fantasy in a pornsite not here

  • Great video !! I love to see owls in the wild.

  • How do you find them?

  • Go out in the early morning or late evening and owl hoot. You can buy an owl hooter at any sporting goods store. Good luck!

  • Thanks! I do have one, but haven't been successful yet. I'm very confident though I'll get it one of these days. haha I'm very happy to know though that owls respond very aggressively to their own calls. Thanks also for the tip on the throat trick. I'll practice and try that, just as I will try using an MP3/4 and play the recording of their calls in the woods. Thanks again and best regards!!!

  • thank you so much

  • thats awesome .. totaly awesome.. i love owls

  • Thanks! This is some of my favorite video. We nicknamed this owl, Oliver. Oliver the Owl is second on my page in total hits. Stay tuned...

  • LOL imagine it attacked you:L

  • my diddy and uncle are really good at making owl sound and we use it to make turkeys gobble

  • Great footage

  • hoo hoo

  • Hootfunk, birdfunk, birdsong, birdcall. Good audio, nothing to detract from the sound of the bird.

  • makes me want to pet one and see what noise it makes.

  • Pretty cool. Makes me wish it was spring time again.

    Fav-ing this one.

  • this is fantastic!

  • we have one that hoots near our house often summer nights. sometimes more then one. but I've only seen the outline of it, cause it comes out when it's completely dark

  • They purr! 8D

  • They're amazing

  • That's what I'm talkin' about ... gotta love those little dudes ... good stuff.

  • Great gargles, caws, and monkey calls.

The other call seemed like a variant of "who cooks for you?", and he was consistent with it. I wonder if Barred Owls can gave local dialects?

The close, with his partner landing on the branch, was a tease. I hope you'll show the follow-up footage with the two owls in dialogue next to each other. I've heard clips of those (riotous) conversations, but they were all at night. I haven't seen daytime video of one.
