Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods - Entering the Stargate

One problem with this movie.

About 4 mins and 20 seconds into it, Apophis, Teal'c and the remainder of the jaffa turn around and leave through the stargate.

Here is the problem. The matter stream is only one way. You'd have to shut down the gate and dial the other way first.

I think this would be interesting to have Kurt Russell as Jack O'Neill. Definitely a different show since RDA's O'Neill is more humour driven.

Not trying to disrespect RDA, I love him. But I cannot help but wonder, what if. :D

I've decided I'm going to make my own cut, using scenes from the original mixed in with the enhanced visual effects from this.

It would be illegal if I tried to distribute it to any one but for home viewing it should be fine.

@LordZope huh, good luck. btw i like the new cut better than the old one, the only thing i would do differently is not to cut out the 2 second shot of sam touching the event horizon, cutting that out was just dumb, and also, i would make it so that sam still says, "it took us 15 years and 3 super computers to MacGyver a working Stargate system" instead of jerry rigging. so if that is all you do, i will be happy with it. But if you put back the frontal nude scene, I WILL HATE YOU!!!!!!!!

are you people for real? seriously get the fuck over it! I'm a loyal Stargate fan, but I don't give a crap which wormhole they use. It's still I good film. and who cares if the next episode in the series wont make sense, that's why you watch the original, this is like a reinvisioning of the beginning. get the fuck over it people. you all are pathetic. just be happy that the producers did it, and will continue making Stargate Movies.

The problem is this 'Brad Wright Cut' is very short sited, I only ever re-watch the old episodes if I am planning on re-watching the entire season (I usually end up watching all the seasons) this re-edit only works as a stand-alone episode and isn't even officially part of the story.

This is made for people who are new to Stargate and want to watch the first adventure without the need to watch the whole of season one, that's it.

Wormholes are the least of this cut's problems. What happened to the original ending... Now the next episode in the series doesn't make sense. Other than that it was fine, i guess. SFX were better in some areas, there were alternate scenes and takes which were fine, except when Carter talks about the DHD. This is now very much like Superman II - Lester VS Donner cut... WHY??? Why change the story and continuity???

actually cutting the ending fixed the logical mistake of the original version.

what the hell does a fully mature Goauld doing in a Jaffa patch in the first place?

now watching the next episode would be more shocking and mysterious not knowing how the Goauld possessed Kowalsky.

@GeorgeGaIIoway If I am right (I'll have to check) the next episode has a 'previously on stargate SG1' at the beginning, maybe I'm wrong on that.

There are many other plot holes as well, for example, as much as I hate the line 'just be my reproductive organs...' by cutting it they caused errors in all the later episodes when they quote it.

The season 1-8 one was soo much better and would make sense chronologically.

Arg! This really annoys me I was hoping the new pilot would fix plot holes not make new ones.

This and cutting out the ending shows it is clearly made for the new viewers who started at season 9 and just want to watch the first episode.

I would say it was both, by enhancing the visual effect they changed it so it doesn't fit in with the other episodes.

It would be like re-mastering the original Starwars (4) only and changing what Lightsabers look like, it may look better it just won't fit with the rest of the series.

@RogueBlueJay I watched when i was 8 too and i agree about the wormhole effect the star mouth is best part of the original movie its like theyre trying to distance the series from what gave birth to it
