It is just insane to import 1.5 million immigrants a year when we are in a deep recession with 15 million Americans unemployed and millions more only working part-time. If the state were in charge of producing food, a store house built in every town to distribute equal amounts of healthy food, the health problems would greatly decrease. Don't forget taxpayer dollars for hospitals for each and every anchor baby born. They are then "citizens" who get housing aid, food stamps, SS, medical, free breakfasts and lunches. Oregon now requires legal documents for driver licenses no longer wait 3 hrs at DMV. Lines are so short now! They still drive, no license no insurance. According to Westat, approximately half of illegal aliens run through E-Verify are inaccurately found to be work authorized, primarily due to identity theft. Entering our country illegally, amazingly enough, is only a misdemeanor. BUT once they steal an American ID to get gov aid such as housing, foodstamps, education ect then they have commited a felony. We need to stop insulting each other and start holding our elected officials accountable to our CURRENT laws. we do not need any kind of amnesty but mass deportation seems to be a good idea... i wouldn't mind a lil more deficit to accomplish that

It is just insane to import 1.5 million immigrants a year when we are in a deep recession with 15 million Americans unemployed and millions more only working part-time. Let's reduce immigration to a reasonable number of 250,000/year and upgrade the quality of the immigrants. Our current immigration system benefits immigrants but not the American worker or taxpayer.

HOWEVER, with that being said. We Americans were ,, opt word here.. WERE too lazy to do the work the immigrants were doing. Now that we, I, are unemployed and in a ressession, NOW we will do the work they do. Funny how this all turns around on us, for being such a lazy workforce. Sad but true.

@Boaterlady We are not lazy..this has all been drilled into peoples heads for too long...if they paid a living wage there would be no jobs for the illegals...people like Nancy Pelosi prey on the illegals for their farm work in California and can pay low wages, no insurance or workers comp. They can then pile 20 people in a house like the ones next door......Time for them to go and their anchor babies!

My Dad picked cotton; when I was in school I did many jobs we're supposedly "too proud" or lazy to do. The problem is that the govt PAYS Americans NOT to work. 1/5 of our households are on some kind of official welfare program. That's not counting many programs that are really welfare but called something else (e.g., "earned" income tax credit, soc sec disability for the phony disabled).

the reason we wouldn't do what the illegals do (ie pick fruit, clean toilets, etc) is because they have decreased the wages in those job markets... construction especially. it is difficult to compete with those that don't provide adequate wages and benefits like we are accustomed to. that being said... removing the illegals will bring an immediate correction to this error and Americans will be doing those jobs

It's because of that AND because in the 60s we started paying tens of millions of Americans not to work. It's no coincidence that illegal immigration began to explode after that. So, deporting illegals will indeed help raise wages, but the problem will not be adequately solved unless you also abolish welfare and stop paying Americans not to work. Otherwise it very well may put excessive strain on the economy.

Start AGGRESSIVELY enforcing U.S. Title 8 which states the penalties for businesses that hire illegal aliens, including fines up to $3,000 and up to 6 months in prison. Start AGGRESSIVELY enforcing U.S. Title 18 which states the penalties for those using false or stolen identification. Enforcement of just these two EXISTING laws would go a long way in getting rid of the illegal aliens in the workplace.

Mexico has no welfare. They don't take care of their own poor but export them, and they somehow manage to send millions of $ back to Mexico. Our government, does not protect us from the 3rd world conditions we now see here due to the invasion. Almost every problem we have is linked to overpopulation. It is irresponsible to bring in non-patriots who don't want to become Americans but want US to learn Spanish. Corporations lick their chops as they exploit us all, legal or illegal.
