i dowloaded the iphone (jailbreak & unlock) file an when the downoad is complete  i get an error when trying to extract the Firmware!! error message says the file is either unknown format or damaged!!! what should i do??

if it says .zip at the end, simply delete that so that it ends in .ipsw

if i have jailbroken it and say my battery runs out and when i charge it will it get messed up like other jailbreaks. Cause my buddy hacked his a different method and isnt allowed to turn his touch off or it will mess his touch up and is forced to rehack

now i tried other custom firmware n it told me that it was incomplete or error 1600

it works perfectly for me!!!!! Just make sure your iphone is in dfu mode, and then click the device u have on the "ihatesnow" prgram. After that the screen should turn white, and then u r ready to resotre.

Everything was going great until I opened ih8sn0w. I had my iPhone 3g on the white screen and everything but when I chose what type of iPhone I had and and hit the 'choose custom firmware' or whatever it says I get this message "Run-Time Error 47." you put it into recovery...not DFU. hold power and home for 10 seconds exactly...then let go on power and hold until your computer makes a noise and says that your device is connected. after this your iphone/ipod should not respond at all to the power or home button. screen must be black.

try using the latest firmware... if that doesnt work.. do the jailbreak and if you come up with no carrier signal.. try to jailbreak it using the firmware in his video description. but dont restore it. just do it straight from the messed up jailbroken firmware. you should get everything back. message me if you need help.

you have to put it in DFU mode...you have it in Recovery. the screen will be black and not respond to the power button if done correctly. and itunes will come up saying it found a iphone/ipod in recovery mode. <-- cuz itunes is stupid..and calls them both recovery. lol =]

Once you finish the jailbreak, you'll restore your Apple apps and the carrier update (mms)... it all works perfectly. I did my iphone 3g with 3.1 fw last night and have had complete success without any flaws...been running everything on it (cracked apps and original) without a hint of a glitch

This worked. But like others, I jailbroke and got no cell service. I am with AT&T. I was on the official Apple 3.1 firmware with 5.11.07 baseband.

I put in DFU mode and began when the screen turned white on the iPhone 3G.

All looked to work until I realized there was no Cell Carrier Signal.

Ideas???
