  • I'd buy this and remove the little video player inside.

  • HARRY POTTER

  • for great artwork search Roy Sproule on YOUTUBE

  • uʍop ǝpısdn sı sıɥʇ

  • CBS, Pepsi, and Entertainment Weekly.

3 assholes that combine to shit out a ton of waste.

  • Worhtless..

  • isn't that gonna be expensieve for a magazine?

  • The big bang theory!

  • Its hackable!!! :-) I figured out the password after trying n trying. Now I need to figure out the file format. Prop say image 320x240 audio 128kps MPEG Layer-3 Video 24 f/s 1182kps n file name ahs h264. Now how to convert a regular AVI to this format to put on device.. :-) Password is 123 after screen... Yaay

  • Plug in USB cord and after the warning screen when u see the battery charging. Immediatly pres 123 on the buttons on the page. Bing you now see it as an esternal drive. But can someone help me out on the video format not really a video guy!!!

  • thanks due, now i can randomly rick roll someone. :) im subing to you. thanks for this usefull tip.

  • Apparently this guy Martin Eisenstadt figured out how to hack into the whole system and embed his book promo on there. (if you click back to my channel, you'll see an example). Huffington Post had a story about it.

  • hahaha big bang theory....

  • This is a clusterfuck for CBS and Pepsi - a very small % of these ads are working like they're supposed to (the main problem being the broken connection that's supposed to be bridged when opening the page stays broken), and also destroying the outside pages of the magazine due to their bulk. Also, the instructions aren't very clear and most people will toss this with never having actually seen these ads. This cost A LOT of money, and it's pretty much all wasted now.

  • love to see the full video without some old guy talking about it.

  • Agree!!

  • RIP OFF!

you did not post the full advertisement!

    JERK!

  • WOWie I did the same thing with my game boy and the bible..........fuck

  • this comment wins

  • What issue is this?

  • Wow, that's awesome.

  • yea i saw this too. it's a fad at best. print is dead.

  • It would be better to just have a media tablet and upload your news paper or magazine to it instead of wasting money on a video screen for a magazine you're only going to use once.

  • Ummm . . .

"These are not the droids you're looking for?

    I got nuthin'."

  • What?! I need to get this issue...

  • Great more pulution people are going to throw those away idoits

  • The magazine and newspaper formats are good ways of organizing and distributing information. When the entire issue can be fully customized and reused this will be a great interface. Until that time (and perhaps until the wide adoption of Organic LEDs) this is just wasteful.

  • i want one!

  • why put a screen in the magazine? it costs a lot of money. And everybody got a screen in their pockets anyways...

  • It's really cool and all, but :

    1. I wouldn't wanna wait for it to load. It should be pre-bufferd of something

    2. WHAT A WASTE OF RESOURCES! People have a big, nice computer screen, and that's enough. Enbedded screens in every newpaper is just like dumping a big, nice CO2 cloud over the world. It's not neccessary, it's more expensive, and just pointless.

But oh well, it's COOL (cuz it looks sorta like a sci-fi kinda thing). But no..it's just over-the-top. Imagine magazines such as playboy O.o

  • Actually OLED/AMOLED screens are highly energy efficient, reusable and are slowly getting cheaper. The materials used are safe, tiny non-toxic electro-luminescent particles.

  • I dont think so. Its bound to turn us all into zombies. Dont you watch science fiction movies?

  • fucking stupid AND pointless

  • that would be great!

  • ePaper, here we go! ePaper is a general purpose computer with display. It'll connect to the Internet. You can do anything with ePaper just as you do with your laptop.

  • Imagine your scrap book full of pictures that start moving. Nice.

  • Harry Potter to come to life!

  • SHELDON!!!!

  • video newspapers here we come!

  • Magazines: Now, even *more* unsustainable!

  • sweet!! also, jim parsons and NPH ftw...

  • Neil Patrick Harris is AWESOME!

  • Isn't this what we have the internet for...?

  • People will find places to cram ads anywhere. It's not what we have the internet for. It's what we have billboards, television, newspapers, radios, AND internet and etc. etc. for. So people can shove down our throats what to spend our money on. :p

  • amazing its the begining of the future i cant wait to see one magazine like that but of video games

  • i bet the sound quality still sucks. can't wait to do some hacking with this.

  • holy crap, that's one thing i thought i wouldn't see at this time

  • Sports clips INSIDE A NEWSPAPER. Or maybe weather reports.

  • Wow so many complaints.. I think we're truly spoiled. Anyway I want this so bad because it's the first of it's kind and it features TBBT. Extra win!

  • I agree! Jim Parsons and Co. must feel so honoured to get to be part of this revolutionary movement!

  • they couldn't have picked a more annoying video, let alone a more annoying magazine

  • This will be awesome for pornos

  • that was my ideaaa nooooo!! =/

  • NPH

  • something as revolutional as video in print, and they waste it on a FUCKING advertisment. so typical.

  • What else would they waste it on? Video print is expensive, and the only way they'll make the money back is through advertising. It's always been like that, always will.

  • it wasnt really advertising anything, just informing people that video is going to be added to print which in my opinion is probably going to kill print faster cause i cant see this being popular for anything except porn.

  • Unfortunately "money" is the reason

  • You mean "Revolutionary", not revolutional, but i do get your point.

  • @muki123 Still, it is awesome, even if it's just an ad.

  • HOLY WTF BATMAN

  • I MUST HAVE ONE!!! Just checked ebay.

  • There's still no valid reason as to why someone would ever buy a copy of Entertainment Weekly.

  • I agree but prefer to say "HEY FUCK YOU ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY!"

  • Excellent Spoof

  • i thought it was at first, but holy crap, its real!

  • AWESOME O.o

  • really coooL!:) The "future" have come closer :D

  • If I ever get my hands on one of these, I'll end up tearing up the magazine just to get that little screen. It'll be like collecting trading cards.

  • I don't see any buttseks...LIAR!

  • coooool

  • ( ゚Д゚)

  • sounds like hp

  • this is shit

  • EE The Big Bang Theory in moving form in a magazine! How cool is that!?

  • Jeez I can't imagine how much it costs to buy those. O.◢

  • Dumb It Down Even More...

  • its only ads and only 40 minutes. they should put live short reports and its in one page everyday. They should have put short most important clips from the everyday tv news, so they can watch it on the magagine if they don't have time to watch it on tv.

  • thats so cool

  • this is going to revolutionize porn magazines!!!

  • wow thats cool...but why do we want a motion ad on paper,we could as well watch televison...magazines are to be read...anyways i dnt care...anyways Check out my video(for hp)...

  • of course it's being used to advertised piece of shit sitcoms

  • I hope I get the one with the ad in my subscription.

  • I heard it's only subscribers in NY and LA.

  • It'll be awesome in Science textbooks

  • yea science textbooks, haha

  • weird i have always imagined text books like that lol (:

  • Woooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! What the shit is that?

  • "honey check out the ad on page 6 it's interesting" "I can't it's out of batteries"

  • lame

  • balls

  • Just because you can... doesn't mean you should. This is a foolish investment.

  • If this technology can be expanded so that a majority of any magazine consists purely of video, wouldn't it greatly reduce the amount of paper previously used to make the ads and such?

Just because it isn't the cure for cancer doesn't mean it isn't relevant in some way.

  • it could reduce the paper, but think of all the other unnecessary waste it would create. instead of throwing away (or hopefully recycling) paper, people would be throwing away a lot more mini-circuit boards, etc... which is worse for the environment?

  • How much waste do radio ads produce?, Yet they are an annoyance at best. You can't compare advertisements or magazines for that matter to curing cancer.

  • wow such a nice technology... such a pointless use of this technology... ads sux

  • well said.

  • Yeah like a lot of people read magazines and it most be expensive and we can't afford expensive shit right now.

  • this would be awesome for playboys

but i forgot theres this thing called the INTERNETZ

    and its free

CBS wins the award for most uselesss invention ever

  • you know who else put videos in magazines?...Hitler.

  • ahahahahahahhaahah that was good

  • you know who else drank water? Hitler...

  • Uh... have the magazine companies caught onto the internet age yet? Computers? Technology? Who wants to read a Magazine anymore. I wonder how thick that screen is anyways. What a waste of money.

  • I've been waiting for something like this to happen.

  • How much did the magazine cost?

Is there a way to recycle it?

    Besides, who still reads magazines?^^

  • It cost 25.99

  • Mostly women only read those types of magazines. Or gay men.

  • Why have you made the distinction of sexual preference when considering who reads a magazine? Do you have some research to back up that prejudice or are you just pulling out some "folksy wisdom" on us?^^

  • Did you mean men who are in need of help cause they can't figure out if they are men or women or did you mean men who are stuck in an old world mode that died out with the Romans 1600 years ago?

  • i am GOD incarnated

    save the worldd now

  • what a waste.

  • I hope this doesn't become a trend in the 2010s and beyond... besides, who knows how long the video can survive before it shuts down. Looks like a fad that will be on the way out already in a few months.

  • i wonder how meany people are going to be scred to death when they open ther magazine and it starts talking to them

  • Only someone who watches Fox News would be scared

  • Wow, that's amazing, too bad it won't be in a good magazine.

  • zomfg!

  • This is cool, but I hope that these things don't end up in a landfill.

  • I've seen stuff like this before. It's not really too awesome, IMO. Video is better than a still image, for sure, but if you cut the huuuge page open, you see the LCD screen and circuitry and stuff. It's just putting what would normally go in plastic into paper.

  • Oh right, so it's not electronic paper.

  • This is pretty damn sweet!

  • I read about this a couple of years ago. The article said two or three years, so I was wondering where it would pop up. If that article was right, you'll be seeing this on things like milk cartons and other places where you can advertise. It's sounds like the future.

  • lame. The video should have showed the thickness of the page.

  • the whole thing looks so 90's. I'm waiting for Bill Clinton to come out in a bad anti-aliased video overlay singing "Pump up the Jam"

  • 2mm

  • I still can't believe they have this tech. I hope no one throws out those magazines, haha

  • I can't believe this isn't going out to where everyone can buy it! ~CRIES~

  • Hell no.

  • Moving newspapers...hmmmm...I wonder where they got that idea. I have a feeling some of the people who came up with that idea might be Harry Potter fans. lol.

But this is so cool! i wish I get that issue since I subscribe to EW, but unfortunately I don't live in NYC or LA.

  • Whoa. This is way better than the iPhone.

  • Recyclable. And it is cool.

  • wow in a magazine??

isnt that going to cost like a lot ??

    haha

  • Was that the whole Bing Bang Theory clip? I love that show! Please kindly post the whole clip if it was incomplete! :)

  • this is not a technological revolution, if you can make that in 10 cents of production cost then that's a revolution

  • thumb up

  • meh....

  • buy the mag and hack it

  • i read that is is recharble by mini usb in the back. U could use this for a mini comp or something!

  • これはすごいw

    本読むのが楽しくなりそうだ

  • sweet

  • :O !!!

  • Wow, that's impressive. I might actually pick up an EW just to see this.

  • I read it's only being distributed to subscribers in "key" markets, such as LA and New York.

  • headphones included next, lets be discreat now.

  • That's neat!

  • wow that's amazing!!! Is that in the current issue? I wonder how much it costs for them to put that in???
