RP is the generic accent, but there are so many regional accents that shakesp's characters would have used--his audience would have heard them and assigned character attributes from them. the soldiers in Henry V are specific. sorry, love, but if you are only listening for the accent you are never really hearing the words.

Can't agree with you there sir. The English accent has nothing to do with the English accent of Shakespeare's time. If we can't accept it in another dialect, we can't truly accept Shakespeare.
