I know i'm probably kinda late on this but when I make a video in iMovie, is it better to finalize it or just export it to quicktime when i'm done with it. I really would like to know because finalizing it takes alot of space up.

@ItsBenaWhile13 I'm not the op, but the new high end sony cameras are freaking amazing. For around a grand, you can get zebra settings, built in projector that literally projects a 100inch picture on a wall and the most amazing optical stabilization i've ever seen. Almost the entire inside components of the camera move based on a gyroscope. 16x smoother video than even their best stabilization

I find this video and others useful what i dont like about imovie that i prefer in vegas is flexibility in adjusting video position. for example i used a letter box but now my face is covered what should i do. Thanx n advance

@ThaAlor Yeah, iMovie is really limited in that way. I don't know of a method of adjusting a clip the way you would need. If I ever figure out one I'll make a video.

Hmmm....very interesting. From experience, professionals do not use imovie as it is a VERY weak program. Not a program recommended by anyone i know. I have it and it is a nightmare to work with.

h.264 is an awesome exporter... but x264encoder is way better. Files are smaller, but with better quality. ; )

u can slow down transitions dramatically by editing the time span..

this gives multitude of cool effects with each of the default transitions..

I wanted to watermark an iMovie 11 clip with a semi-transparent logo; I made the PNG semi-transparent in GIMP, flattened it, then dragged it onto the movie. Ok. But the image seemed to have strange colours around the edges, and transparency wasn't effected. Do you have any suggestions?

I just rendered a video in 1920 x 1080 HD from iMovie and it looks choppy and the weird. The shadow areas have a lot of floating pixels and it overall looks like crap. I did the same video not in HD and it looks much better. I dont want to take the time to upload it to Youtube looking like this.

Thanks for the great tips. In iMovie - can I change the playback speed of certain clips in sections (rock music video)...and not change the tempo of the music?
