When I was in China, I noticed that the Hui see themselves as Muslims but also as Chinese. They are more or less fully integrated with the greater Chinese community and are more influenced by Chinese culture than by Arab or Turkic Muslim culture.

When I was in China, I noticed that the Hui see themselves as Muslims but also as Chinese. They are more or less fully integrated with the greater Chinese community and are more influenced by Chinese culture than by Arab or Turkic Muslim culture.
I was also impressed with how friendly and hospitable they were.

Two likely reasons why Hui muslims are able to live peacefully with non-muslims in China is, first, they are a minority, and second, the Chinese government rules with an iron hand and will not hesitate to come down hard on them should they step out of line.

For example Zheng He in the Ming dynasty (original name Hajji) who went as far to East Africa doing trade, unlike Portuguese who came and invaded them. Hui and Han are actually the same people using strategy to against each other, it's not hatre, but just their strategy. Unlike that between Uyghurs and Chinese.

Perhaps my use of words is unclear. What I said is history, and nothing we can do to change a violence past, but we can definitely look for a brighter future, there are no need to continue old feuds. I don't agree with the strategies used by our ancestors to impose ideas over others through violence. The problem with Uighurs and Chicom atm is quite trivial, and I rather no commented on it on a video about the Hui. But I bare deep respect for the Hui for their help in ww2.

Islam play very important role in 15-17 century in China, when the Ming Dynasty were on the throne. It is not surprisinng if there were many muslim in China.
But in the modern world their presence and history were covered.
For all muslim, I think it is good for us to know the world and learn history. Media only feed us with what evil westerners want.
