@TheHELLSOLDER Well, that's the moral study of the movie, isn't it? She may have given birth to him, but he doesn't have her genes. She's not biologically his mother. It's a concept that comes up in nearly every book/movie/etc. about cloning. Ultimately, it comes down to the idea of what is humanity.
@JesterHopperpot1 Complex? He's her husband. Then her son, who's son she gives birth to. That is fucked up. He's an amazing actor, don't get me wrong, but this is thoroughly disturbing.
@FifiArnoldOhmonoB13 It displays a complex moral scenario; Eva Green's character is torn between her love for her husband, who she loses in a car accident, and her love for his "son", who is really the clone of her husband implanted in her. They have a normal mother/son relationship, but when he grows up he resembles her husband exactly, and she tries to fight the feelings she has for him. It's an emotionally complex and intelligent character study; I don't consider that "disturbing"
@FifiArnoldOhmonoB13 He's actually not entirely okay with it. He's conflicted as well, confused why he has these feelings for his mom (which stem from him being a clone), and revolted by this attraction that he has (which stems from the fact that he was raised as her son). It's a character study of Smith and Green, basically. And I don't consider this normal, I just consider it thought provoking and rather intelligent
@JesterHopperpot1 Exactly! I hate when people label this film as only incestuous, it was so much more than that. Rebbecca was mentally broken after Tommy died. I doubt under normal circumstances would she have ever considered cloning as an option, or predicted this as her future. It does makes you question just how far you would go to have someone back who's life was cut short just as it was beginning. Once Tommy became an adult the line between right and wrong mirrored itself.
@DaddysTaz By American standards. In most foreign cinemas (this is a UK film unless I am mistaken), unconventional plots like this are something of a norm. And trust me, compared to MANY other films, this plot is not that messed up
@FifiArnoldOhmonoB13 And when in my comment did I say "normal"? I'm Scottish (raised in both Scotland and the US), and a fan of foreign films. And while, yes, this isn't normal, it's not necesarily all that disturbing or taboo by the standards of many foreign films (and honestly, is being taboo or disturbing a bad thing?). The director is Hungarian, and by the standards of Eastern European cinema, this is VERY tame (I dare you to watch something like A Serbian Film, and still call Womb fucked up
@JesterHopperpot1 I thought i had replied to you, but apparently i didnt.
what i was going to say is, i am all for unconventional plots that present challenges to an actor. but why does the only complexity these days involve all sorts of sex and drugs? you can do complex without that stuff.
@DaddysTaz Truthfully, there isn't all that much drug content in the film, if any. And the sexual tension and moral scenario that's put forth in films like these adds complexity to them, and in the process bringing up intelligent studies on human morals and behavior. That's why I applaud foreign and independant cinema, those are mostly the movies that aren't afraid to be taboo in order to bring up these themes.
@JesterHopperpot1 oh i know there's no drugs in here, i was just saying that IN GENERAL, alot of movies put in drugs as well as sex to qualify it as thought-provoking or complex. and i don't mind it once in a while, but after a while it gets disturbing and/or one is desensitized to it, which i think is especially undesirable. in general i definitely like independent films more than hollywood, too. are there any movies easily available on the internet that you would suggest?
@DaddysTaz Disco Pigs is a brilliant independent Irish movie with Cillian Murphy that's pretty accessable online, and Young Adam is a great indie flick with Ewan McGregor (VERY sexually explicit, but a beautiful film). I also recommend Christopher And His Kind (also starring Matt Smith). Technically a British TV-movie, as opposed to a real independent film, but it's a fascinating movie that really showcases Smith's talent.
His mother, and she want him to F***K her , because he looks like his father????
Is this the story of this film????
True or I am wrong???? Because this is what I understood from this video

@FifiArnoldOhmonoB13 For choosing a film that's complex and makes him more diverse as an actor? Okay...

@JesterHopperpot1 I get that, but I'm still trying to understand how you can find this normal. How is the son okay with screwing his mum...?
