  • LARGE PRO FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

  • Man, I feel like I'm 16 again!! This is the only version I know and love!!

  • @astrogliding dang, you're even older than I am. I was only in 4th/5th grade in '92.

  • There will never be a song like this now a days. Even if there was people would say the artist is hating or the artist will back track. Hip hop use to be so guarded now they letting anyone in

  • I was wondering what the hell Sidney was playing in the car when the Mexicans rushed his car for jobs.

  • This is real- hard to find music like this anymore. Speaks to you at so many different levels. I wish I was back at WUSU and my man Tudor rocking the turntables (not very well but we didnt care) all night!

  • okay, HOLY CRAP... i had no idea there was an 'original' version. i mean holy crap. don't know if it's a better version though...

  • @auraliztic Think it's all about refference. Like wich one you heard first back in the day.

  • @trademark1874 say no more hombre, i understand completely ;)

  • @auraliztic

    gangstah hoopla is hilarious though.

  • i bet if lil wayne, eminem, ace hood, travis porter, whiz khalifa and those other rappers made a song about faking they would make a fool of themselves.

  • Smoove ruffness at it's finest. REAL hip hop ya'll...

  • I miss real hip-hop

  • Thank you for posting this. but I guess I like 12 inch (video) version better.

  • @jvcforce Cosign. I like the harder lyrics, but that's about it. Not bad, but I like the remix version better.

  • Chill as fuck wish I was born n those days

  • Big up for the Upload...dopest track ever!!!!

  • yes.

  • I miss these days ;(

  • this is dope...if you like this stuff you will like my music as well im def not fakin the funk im a south Bronx Bboy/Emcee and Graff artist known as Chief69...much love and peace to everyone bumpin this joint

  • They go in much harder on this version as opposed to the soundtrack version.

  • WHAAAT! Never heard this version.

  • didnt like that one, but thumps up if its to dope!!

  • The original Dropped on a 12" way before the movie I have a white label copy

  • @Kingcire72x Okay thats more at technical issue, but the discussion here has been wich version is and isent a remix, i dont doubt you have the first issued on white label (Wich i wished i had!) , but if it sounds different than my post here, it starts to sound interresting.. ;)

  • @trademark1874 It sounds almost the same as the single version uncut

Just some of the lyrics are different .

I copped it from the Music Factory on Jamacia ave. in 1991

  • @trademark1874 I have the white label (Wild Pitch). They talk b4 the beat comes in. The rhyme style is alittle different. This version can be considered "watered down' COMPARED to the white label.

  • @khaliamoon Sounds like technical issue here, but upload it and lets us hear :) But sounds like you have the remix due to your description of it..

  • Love this!

  • damn, I searched this sing/chorus sample for years I thought it was used by maybe Hi-C, Black Sheep, Biz Markie or just Main Source just ca. 1991 anyway listened to the album at whole a week ago and didn't find it. first thought I dream listening. ah, it's OST version. I'm soooo addicted to this sample. I ever felt this is kinda the anthem of early 90s classic hip hop (with conscious touch) by the way: it's anthem to my 1st own mixtape, but it's finally ready (pm me) thx trademark, thx youtube
  • @Caritner I can't remember the name of the song but its by The Main Ingredient

my pops used play the original in his Trans Am on a 8track

My aunt had the album back in the day

  • @Kingcire72x It's Main Ingredient alright, the song is "Magic Shoes" :)

  • @trademark1874 Actually when Donald McPherson the original lead singer, died in 1971 of leukemia, their old backing vocalist Cuba Gooding, Sr. took over the lead singer spot, and yes, it is Cuba Gooding, Jr's. Dads :) Thought you wanted to know..

  • @trademark1874 Yep thats it mn you got skillz

  • Comment removed

  • That is a masterpiece

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

You made my day with this one trademark. Thank you.

  • HO YEA!

  • wow.

  • You might confuse some folks, this track is from the "Breaking Atoms" LP, the remix is from the "white men can't" rap EP, thats the picture you have posted for some reason. I have both.

  • @stlouisda1st I think you are the confused one! This has only been realesed on this WMCR EP. But the remix has been released on Breaking Atoms, true but only on unofficial japanese reissue from 1997, and on another Japanese Reissue from 2006 ;) But it doesent say it's a remix on the japanese pressings. If you ever get the the only Fakin' the funk 12", remix is written on the label..:)

    Have a nice day :)

  • @trademark1874 Additional info: I took this picture of the WMCR label, after i uploaded it directly from my vinyl ;)

  • @trademark1874 ..CO-SIGN WAS ABOUT TO PUT THE EXACT SAME THING U HAVE WRITTEN....I KNOW CAUSE I REALLY HAVE BOTH VINYLS...

  • @trademark1874 thx for the info...

  • @stlouisda1st i'm pretty sure this is the version from the movie soundtrack.i had it back in the day and it was added to the breaking atoms reissue which i also have.i'm not sure where the other version is from because i didn't hear until years later.either way,its a dope ass song.peace!

    P.SWIFT

  • this my joimt..where does the sample come from?

  • @Aplustradomus The intro is by "Main Ingredient - Magic Shoes". Horns: "Kool and the Gang - N.T", Drums: "Grady Tate - Be Black Baby", and bits from "S.O.U.L. - Soul".. :)

  • Thansk sooo much, man you know your stuff fam..

  • @trademark1874 all mixed together perfectly

i mean like a find wine

  • @trademark1874 that is great knowledge. did you look it up or do you just know your music? very impressive.

  • @superstrut75 The game for me and my DJ friends back when This came out, was to point out who sampled this and that. Many records has been listened too, crappy records too ;) But that's what started it all, and my road into Jazz too. Started out looking for samples when i was 17, found my first on my mom's "Songs In The Key Of Life" album by Stevie wonder, and then i saw the light. I'm 36 now and still searching, ;)

  • @trademark1874 thank you that"s how real hip hop rap started and im searching for lps video games and cds too

  • baaa baaa ba ba baaa... Well done Trademark, keep it 1991-1992

Long live the ol style,I have rare with salad

  • GREAT TRACK FROM A GREAT ERA

  • On many Vinyl releases this is labeled as the remix but actually the famous version is the remix. (Original - 3:25 long, Remix - 3:41 long)

Also Neek the Exotic is only credited for this one/the-so-called-remix-but-actually-original on vinyl he's actually on both.

  • Where have you seen THOSE vinyl releases labeling THIS version as a remix? I have yet to see those.

Truth be told, this is the VERY FIRST TIME I have seen the vinyl representation of the "White Men Can't Rap" supplementary companion EP to the "White Men Can't Jump" soundtrack -- the only place you could have TRULY found this version. It's also my first time HEARING the FULL original version!

Neek isn't print-credited ON EITHER, except as O-Moss on the sticker of the "remix" sleeve.

    > DLC

  • I use scans/photos of the Fakin The Funk vinyl single products on eBay, or dicogs. Plus I have the songs to compare to relate them to. (I had both version and was trying to figure out which one was which and time length was pretty much all I had to go on).

Also on these singles Neek was credited as Neek but only for the "Remix" however listening to the songs you hear him mention his name on both... hence on both)

Though I have not seen the image of this vinyl pressing of White Men Can't Rap.

  • NATIVE TOUNGUE CERTIFIED

  • I remember this! Right before the Movie!

  • This song takes me back early...Early.

  • one of the best hip hop tracks ever. timeless.

  • all these rapperz these dayz are fakin the funk..then again, its not Hip Hop anyway..lame ass motherfuckerz!!!

  • They are talking about Lil Wayne and all those punks.

  • thanks for uppin

    fuckin love it

  • that version i never heard before

  • Flushing Queens stand up!!!

    Extra P made you proud!!

    What up Neek!!

    Sir Scratch and K-Cut.....Canada reppin!!

  • The remix sounds better but both are hot.

  • Big upload!

  • that's real hip hop. what a funky track. brings me back.

  • @karey26 for real because hip hop rap is terrible these dayz.

  • original player hater anthem!

  • Damn the original, thanks for the upload!

  • I actually like the remix because of that illin flute solo haha.

  • There is also a version taken back by Brand Nubian feat Busta rhymes: "Come on & get down".

But am too rare to find it on Internet... :'(

    PS: Sorry for my language.

  • sweet..''ba ba bababa'' that was main ingrediant ''magic shoes''...dope song, both are

  • Wait a minute...If this is the original, then what's the remix???

  • Homes, i agree with u! They ALMOST sound the same except for the change of lyrics.I guess it was done for the soundtrack.

  • The remix is on the "White Men Can't Jump" soundtrack.

  • The Remix starts with Large Pro Talking over some Sax, while the first version starts clean with "Baa baa ba ba baa...

  • @FritzFrancis itsa a version...mainly a different vocal take

  • I remember hearinfg this version along time ago on the "White Men Can't Rap" joint. I had totally forgotten that the other version was the remix.

  • NICE!!

  • extra p's homeboy sounds a lot better on this version of the song, more grimey, more hood. This is the shit, but I'm more of a "lookin at the front door" fan. if you got some obscure version of that shit in your library, share it, brother!

  • Im A "LATFD" fan too, like any track from the Breaking Atoms album. Just this is the version i can relate too, but on a pretty rare EP.

If I find another "LATFD" version or remix ill post it...:)

  • Whoever posted this . . .THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU WITH MANY CHILDREN WHO RAP!

  • Excellent upload!
