  • Wow, sublime genius! Yes creepy indeed and I can't put my finger on why. How could anyone reject this in anyway, it's brilliant.

  • I like him. I bet he's harmless.

  • creeps me out now at 37 so its not a child like fear but a deep scare built on nightmares

  • Kinda reminds me of Monty Python..the makers have to have very strange, but interesting minds.

  • those scare me...a brightly lit white room with no windows...and a creepy looking but very nice man....you're lost...he is trying to help you get out of the place...but you're young and scared....that was one of my dreams when i was 9

  • I feel curiously frightened. They ARE geniuses, and remind me of the SAW movies, not in a bad way!

  • This video make me feel some weird peace!

  • cool

  • So glad I grew up in a time when weird, arty animation was all over MTV, BBC2, Channel 4 and Nicklelodeon. Viva the 90s!

  • I think the music is not synchronized with the image. It should start at 0:11 but it starts earlier. Big difference when you see the original!

  • weird...

  • scary!

  • A single dislike?

    .

The ghost of Marmaduke Hussey, one presumes...

  • Trust the BBC eh?

  • one of the best animators in the history i think

  • I believe I have found my new favorite film makers. :)

  • Love it

  • Just stunning.

  • Rejected for being too awesome.

  • Hahah, BBC took the bad decision here. Youtube proves it:

    156 likes. 1 dislike. =D

  • this is the first Quays animation film i've seen, and since...i've got interested in animation filmmaking...Quays are very good at it...

  • fuck BBC

  • well, i thought it was very clever even if the BBC rejected it. Probably would have scared me to death in 1991 as I was about 6 at the time, but now I can say I like it a lot.

  • Love this kind of magic!

  • Sort of claustrophobic and threatening, if you ask me.

  • why was this rejected

  • loved it!

  • охуенно

  • Hi Mel.

  • amazing!

  • This is something that would have completely creeped me out when I was 5

  • @GreggaryPeccary

probably why it was rejected, bbc doesnt want to scare kids lol

    still awesome tho

  • @GreggaryPeccary All of their videos creep me out, and I'm 18. Lol. But the Quay Brothers are GENIUSES! Their work is just absolutely brilliant.

  • I found the metaphor of the artistic creation as a continuity, a closed circle, amusing and rather beautiful

  • I believe this was when Alan Yentob was controller of BBC 2. A really exciting time for the channel and the BBC generally, I can't imagine something like this even being considered now.

It's a shame the ident from the Brothers Quay was too 'out there' to be used but for the record I really liked the 90s BBC 2 idents that Yentob eventually chose.

  • Pure, Genious!

  • que gran trabajo hacen estos señores aplausos:)

  • really good, exelent

  • brilliant

  • Fantástico!

  • Briliant! they are 2 of the best stop-motion animators I know. they folow Jan Svankmajer and other great vanguardists of stop motion in world

  • Love, Love, Love this! Are they still making short films?

  • No they are actually working on a full length film right now that should be nearing completion very soon.

  • ; it deals with three characters (and their African guide) who, after meeting up in the Sahara desert for a mystery job, become involved with a group of terrorists. The situation sees the two sides constantly double-crossing one another to gain the upper hand

  • good lord they are amazing!

  • My favorite!
