apparently he comes from a village where all men were warriors and when one had reached a certain rank in the village he was granted the Genji equipment also something on a sidenote Gilgamesh actually finished off an entire army on his own

What about Speechless Fight from XII? That one kicks ass, too. I know this doesn't count for numerical Final Fantasies, but you could also have put in the Battle at the Big Bridge remake from Dissidia. Or the ones from the Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo's Dungeon/Tales, the Chocobo's Dungeon one is just as epic, if not more epic, than XII's, due to it being orchestrated and I'm a sucker for orchestral music. :P
