  • R.I.P CHARLIE THE HAMSTER, 2010 - 2011 :(

  • How many dwarf hamsters could comfortably live in the rotastak lunar module plus spaghetti junction plus the tunnel kit plus a cage the same size, if not bigger, of the maxi tunnel of fun- next step after maxi penthouse?

Oh and which type of dwarf hamster would you recommend

and is rotastak suitable for them at all?

  • lol i think you need another wheel :)

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Have you got 3 there? How long and wide is their cage? Because I've got my eye on this one that is 71cm long and 30cm wide and I'm wondering if it'll be okay for 3 WW dwarfs.

  • XD! The sound effects sounded so real!

  • which dwarf is the best??

    -chinese

    -robo.

    -or russian

[winter whites are unavailable in the closest pet store]

  • I've oly had the russians so can't compare, though I think anything with shorter air would be easier, I had to bathe these girls about bi weekly.

  • @fearlessdog22 dwarf or robo

  • So so cute! I went to Petco yesterday to buy dog food and was so so close to buying one, but i didn't. One because I wasn't sure how to take care of it. So after doing some reading and research, I think I may end up buying one! Do you recommend getting one or two? In a way I want 2, that way he isn't lonesome.

  • im not an expert but i have two dwarf hamster but the are sisters so they get along pretty well but ask the guy or girl working the area and try to find the two that get along the best well thats all i got tell me how it goes

  • Mine were sisters as well, but I've heard never to keep more than one in a cage. I've only ever had siblings together, but they do keep several of them together at the pet stores. So I'm not sure, a friend of mine had two, one bought a year later than the first and tried to house them together, one killed the other in about a day. So I dont' know if I would trust getting two that weren't from the same batch, or atleast in the same cage at time of purchase. They are territorial at times.

  • @ortamenx dwarf hamsters can be in a cage with company not normal ones though

  • @ortamenx It's the Syrian hamsters you can't keep more than one in a cage. Dwarfs are sociable and love to live in groups and play with each other :)

  • is that carefresh bedding? smart choice my friend

  • You know I bet that was it. This was so long ago and I've a couple of people ask, I could never remember the name, but that sounds right. Thanks for viewing.

  • I have a dwarf hamster and i want to get another. What type of things should i keep in mind and buy and such.

    Thanks!

  • Just watch and make sure they get along. When we got ours we were told we would have to seperate them because they are territorial, but we never did they got along fine, but they were sisters and together from birth to death. But they alo said 1-3 year life span, and our four lived to be 3, 4, 5, and 5.

  • I just got two small rats and I'm wondering if my water bottle is working right. When I touch the ball water drips but I remember seeing bubbles when the rats drank from it from when I had rats before. They are licking and licking and I dont see any bubbles and its hard to tell if they've drank some or it just kinda dribbled. They are still kinda skitish and getting used to me and their home so I dont want to disrupt their area to much. I gave them ripped up newspaper and they made a nest.

  • Don't blame you for wanting to get them settled before you go changing things. Id suggest watching the water level, if it is dropping then they are drinking. Did they have one before? Sometimes it takes awhile for animals to get used to water bottles, even if they are slightly different.

  • I think the level has went down some but they are so small its hard to tell how much theyre drinking. I put a top of water inside and they drank from that but that doesnt necessarily mean they wernt getting any from the bottle. I'll check back with the pet store. I think they actually like drinking out of the dish. They can get their little hands wet and bath and stuff.

    Thanks!

  • great vid! what kind of bedding is that?

  • I dont remember the brand of bedding, but it was partially made out of recycled paper, and super absorbent. I liked it it was easy to clean, and easy for them to "tear" up in pieces and build nests out of.

  • i just got 2 dwarf hamsters today we are currently getting the cage ready

  • Aww, you should buy another wheel to prevent fighting. Kyoot hammies.

  • i had 2 guinea pigs that were babies and they died in three days!!!!!

  • i luv dwarf hamster cuz theyre a really attached pet infact to tame them u need to play with them! thats the fun thing about dwarf hamsters...i buying another 1 soon cuz i didnt have 1 for 3 years and i miss hamsters so im gonna get 2 of em(u know y)and im gonna make a maze with a toilet roll entrance hehehe

  • cute

  • i really like how you set up the cage it looks nice and playful for them

  • Hi, nice video. Can you tell me how much food do I need to feed the hamster? Like how many times a day?How much food per time? Thanks

  • We fed ours once in the morning about a 1/8cup of food (for the four), they stored most of it. We found it stocked piled everytime we cleaned. We also kept a "treat" bar available most of the time. If you over feed they will just hide it away as most rodents do, especially the Cricetinae sub category. I'd suggest feed once a day, just make sure they have some food cause they will hide it, and clean out the old stuff atleast every 2 wks. Also use good quality food, certain foods are bad for them.

  • lol its running for its life

  • the best way to prevent a hamster from biting is rubbing your hands in some of their bedding. dont pick them up, stick your hand in the cage and let them smell it. wen they walk on your hand lift them up. most of the time they wont bite.

google handling hamsters for more info

  • Mine keeps tickling me with her whiskers... And she keeps climbing on to my shoulder and i freak out when she does.

  • lol ow ow ow ow

  • So I'm thinking of getting two females are they ok to be in the same cage?

  • Generally it isn't a good idea, unless they are siblings . . . they are known to fight. All of our's were sisters so they got along. The general rule is to keep dwarf hamsters to one per tank, because thay are known to attack each other.

  • What type of Dwarf Hamster do you think is best to get?

  • I've only had the "russian" dwarfs like in the video as hamsters. They seem to be great little guys/girls.

  • Were they very shy?

  • Not at all, they would run to your hand if you put in the tank, sleep on your shoulder, but they were well handled since they were young.

  • how long is a dwarfs normal life span???

  • 1-2 years T_T... A Guinea Pig last 4-5 years

  • they bite but not to offen i found this out when i had to take on to the vet . i thought she had mtes but we took her just to make sure. well the vet took a razor and scraped the spot and every time he scraped her she bit him hard. he just gave us some creme to rub on her it is gettin better already. it wasnt mites it was just a fungus from my dog . my dog tried to eat her but shes ok.

  • do hamsters ever really bite? cause at the pet store they told me that they do bite?

  • Sadly all of ours have passed on, they lived to be about 5 years. But yes they can bite. If you get an older one that isn't handled often it is common they bite while handled. Young ones will bite too. But if you get them use to being picked up and such, they rarely bite. Ours never really bit, except if you picked them them up while feeding, or right after feeding and your hands smelled like food. They will bite if they are startled, or feel threaten as well. So they can very well bite.

  • there so cute!!!!!

  • It´s pretty fun. Thank you!

  • lol it was funny when the other hamster tryed to go in the wheel

  • the hamsters r soooo cute, i love them!!! the wheel is cool 2

  • wow u got a pretty big cage

  • Yeah we used a 30 gallon terrarium, they seem to love it (plenty of room to run around and play tag) Thanks for viewing!
