My faith is renewed. I still don't like all the glowy effects, but it's great to hear some really positive things about how it plays, and from someone who sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
i played the previous diablo's, <3 the game!! played it every day all day haha it was so good, i liked to play the movie Troy in the background.. im weird
Though not too happy with the whole online all the time thing (I like my laptop) or the auction house, I am still looking forward to this game.
Having said that, I am also looking forward to all the wonderful Diablo 3 clones that will come around. One of my all time favorite games was Titan Quest. Loved that games game play more than Diablo 2 (don't hate me). D2 had the better story though.
evne if i dont get into the soon-to-be Invite Only beta, im still buying this game :3
also hopefully since the game will require internet to play, itll keep hackers at bay for a good while, i dont want this game going the way of D2 for Battle.Net :(

I never understood the hype about Diablo. Half way through the game I gave up on it cause the amount of enemies I had to kill to travel 100 metres was excruciating. One of the most repetitive games I've ever played.
Seems to me that any game that you plan to at least partially ignore by watching TV isn't really worth the effort. I hope I'm not the only person left who thinks a game should be engaging, not just a grindfest... That being said, I'm still very keen to give Diablo 3 a try; maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised!

lol even when their where tons of skills in the first one there where only a select few that anybody ever used.. for instance... Orb sorc was basically, Orb, Tele, energy shield(or w/e), Frost shield, and that was basically it. The same went for most other classes. Also, Blizzard doesn't need their own WoW because they are the creators of WoW...derp?
Usually for me, realizing a whole two hours has suddenly vanished when playing a video game, and not knowing how it happened, is a sign that I've been playing an unsatisfying, or inconsistently satisfying, game--like all of Blizzard's RPGs. The company's art direction is, however, very good, and I will probably give D3 a whirl; Blizzard's games are too much like rat experiments... (video games & skinner boxes)

Just running around, clicking until all the enemies are gone and repeat. If you upgrade you have the same power but with slight tweeks. Where is the skill or the unique complexity of this game? Also, it's developed by Blizzard who made Starcraft and the Warcraft series.

You forgot to mention the ALWAYS-ON DRM... That means you ALWAYS have to be connected to play Diablo 3, So say goodbye to offline play, trying out character combinations offline, playing offline while a sweet hurricane or terrible thunderstorm passes, playing offline while in your car or in a plane. Thanks Blizzard!
doing a pc singleplayer exclusive has lately become a nightmare for devs and publishers. This sort of extreme action that Blizzard has takes just proves that.
@M0EJ0EKING It does affect piracy but it won't stop it all together but it'll definitely add a cba factor in for people who may have otherwise just got a pirate version.
@Diablo3Inc DRMs only make pirateers wait 3 days for a crack ... its not anything that effects pirating besides usualy pirated versions are better like offline play (sometthing DRM has removed from the user)
@M0EJ0EKING 3 days would be pretty quick and besides it'll only be a bastardisation of the game anyway because it's all stored server side. I think that's what'll put a lot of people off pirating it. They'll want the full features and access to the auction house.

@Ston3m4n Don't get me wrong I have always liked Diablo but I did occasionally like my offline single player and character editing which gave Diablo 2 its uniqueness, like someone else said yes it can reduce cheating but there will always be cheating... someone always figures something out and offline editing had its own place online which now cant even be done.

@CoB44ever I think it levels the playing field so that the people who don't have hours and hours to farm hell baal can still get decent items. It will also make it much easier to get something of worth for great items that your class can't use, or that don't improve the build you want. And anyway, the online auctioning would happen with 3rd party sites regardless--just like it did in Diablo 2--so Blizzard decided to preempt that by creating their own secure and convenient version.
@CoB44ever Probably the people who don't care about PvP :P. Besides, doesn't every game with PvP have illegal, third party traders? Hence, people are currently buying every PvP win. Nothing has changed except that Blizzard isn't going to lose money because of it. ^_^

this is why I think on hardcore pvp, you should be able to use the aunction house, and loose items you spend money for, gives players with less money a chance to get some good items.

Btw, anyone complaining about the new cash-based AH, you're either not very bright, or just don't pay attention. You can buy the items for real money yes, but you can ALSO buy the same items with in-game currency. Using real money is optional, not mandatory. Jeez.... no wonder the world is in the state it's in with people paying this little attention to detail....
When selling a rare or powerful item which of the 2 auction houses are you more likely to place it on? The one where you could earn some non-existant gold which blizzard still owns (along with your character) and reserves the right to delete at any time without any reason needed, OR the one where you could make some real life cash? Blizzard also prefers the second option, how else would they take their cut?
@greenpeon In which case, look at it this way: Would you rather Blizz took that money and used it to develop better games. Or would you rather give to some Chinese gold farmer who's gonna end up getting your account hacked? I find what they're doing akin to legalizing prostitution and taxing it.
Besides, the AH is an optional feature. You CAN play the game without it.

The noskill tree looks awsome at first, you can use all your skill, try them all with the runes. However, you remove alot of replayability from the game. I must have done about 40 times Diablo 2 to at least nightmare difficulty, everytime using a new build. But it seem that, in Diablo 3, once you have all character maxed, youre gonna have done pretty much everything.
This doesn't "feel" like a Diablo game. No modding or LAN is just idiotic. The AH is a cash grab Blizzard made so they can cash out on before the market collapses. PvP is useless. Honestly I don't want to get it anymore. Torchlight 2 is cheaper and has things like modding, LAN play, and they don't allow you to buy power.

You forgot to mention the ALWAYS-ON DRM... That means you ALWAYS have to be connected to play Diablo 3, So say goodbye to offline play, trying out character combinations offline, playing offline while a sweet hurricane or terrible thunderstorm passes, playing offline while in your car or in a plane. @Ston3m4n Don't get me wrong I have always liked Diablo but I did occasionally like my offline single player and character editing which gave Diablo 2 its uniqueness, like someone else said yes it can reduce cheating but there will always be cheating... someone always figures something out and offline editing had its own place online which now cant even be done.

@CoB44ever I think it levels the playing field so that the people who don't have hours and hours to farm hell baal can still get decent items. It will also make it much easier to get something of worth for great items that your class can't use, or that don't improve the build you want. And anyway, the online auctioning would happen with 3rd party sites regardless--just like it did in Diablo 2--so Blizzard decided to preempt that by creating their own secure and convenient version.

You can buy the items for real money yes, but you can ALSO buy the same items with in-game currency. Using real money is optional, not mandatory. When selling a rare or powerful item which of the 2 auction houses are you more likely to place it on? The one where you could earn some non-existant gold which blizzard still owns (along with your character) and reserves the right to delete at any time without any reason needed, OR the one where you could make some real life cash? Blizzard also prefers the second option, how else would they take their cut?

The noskill tree looks awsome at first, you can use all your skill, try them all with the runes. However, you remove alot of replayability from the game. I must have done about 40 times Diablo 2 to at least nightmare difficulty, everytime using a new build. But it seem that, in Diablo 3, once you have all character maxed, youre gonna have done pretty much everything.

This doesn't "feel" like a Diablo game. No modding or LAN is just idiotic. The AH is a cash grab Blizzard made so they can cash out on before the market collapses. PvP is useless. Honestly I don't want to get it anymore. Torchlight 2 is cheaper and has things like modding, LAN play, and they don't allow you to buy power.
