If we don't hire the best talent for the cheapest, companies in other countries will. Shutting us off from the outside won't help unemployment, it will only foster uncompetitive markets just like unions and protectionism slowed eroded the Big 3.

The H-1B visa IS protectionism - protection for employers, who own the visa; protecting them from having to hire a free-market US worker. The H-1B visa is a "government subsidy" for employers - actual words of free-market champion, Nobel Prize in Economics Milton Friedman.

This protectionism for employers should be eliminated or drastically reformed.

The best thing as an American that you can do when you are asked to TRAIN your filthy tandoori replacement is to WALK OUT. Drop the whole project in the company's lap and just WALK. No notice, no nothing. Drop it in their laps. LET THEM FLAIL AND LET THEM FAIL. Without your training, their cheap labor is actually a LOSS to them. Make them laying you off COST them money and this will stop REAL quick.

Most asian college students spend three times as much time studying because they don't have good English skills and need to "live" in the library just to stay on the same pace as the bright american kids. I used to get paid good money to do a LOT of work for asian students. They might have been a little better at calculus than me, but i guarentee, they are not going to be using calculus that much in the real world.

It's a well known fact that most Asian college students, especially Indians and Chinese CHEAT their way through school. And you are dumbos so you have to work inordinately hard. And dedication? Are you serious? The only dedication you have is to asking Americans to TRAIN you and then take their jobs. WIthout American training you can't do anything with your fake degrees and cheating ways. If Americans are flipping burgers it's because you took their good jobs because you cant find one at home.

Being from poland and as a new computer science grad from American college my experience was exactly the contrary. It took 3 months for me to land an OK offer while most of my American classmates got offers earlier than me. Many companies came to the on-campus job fair with a 'No sponsorship for H1B's', because of the saved cost and hassles from the immigration procedures.

It is clear that many companies will not sponsor H1B if they can hire an American.
