He is supporting the camera with his right hand using a handle attachment and releasing the shutter with his left hand. I heard that it's because he has a right hand injury that makes it difficult for him to use a camera the usual way. But I didn't hear it directly from him so it's just hearsay.
@culpritrogue : Well, indeed he has a right hand injury that's why he also shakes your hand with the left . I thought it was strange at the beginning but then I figured out. It was really nice being with him for a week.
I think he's not much of techniques freak , he's more of a person who develops his vision . He is amazingly good
Steve Mc Curry has been and still is a model to me for years. He is the one photographer whom made me pick a camera. I share his passion for this art, for travel, for India and Asian cultures in general. I only wish my wish work were as striking as his is.
Definitely one of the greatest photojournalist s around!
This guy is absolutely amazing at what he does, he is personaly a role model of mine ever since I was a little kid and I truely believe that this man is one of the best photographers in this day of age. Not only does he take beautiful photographs, but they are of people, places, cultures. He captures images of love, pain, poverty, wealth, and what every he has an eye for, what could be a normal object, is turned into a masterpiece ib his eyes. And I look up to him for that.
If Steve McCurry took a photo of me I'd probably have some type of orgasm. He's that good.

Lay off the caffeine and develop a s-t-e-a-d-y grip! I'd guess that a vibration reducution FAST AF prime lens helps as well. Viva Steve McCurry!
