I don't get it. If they are so confident with their so called psychic abilities, why are they competing for a measly $100,000 when James Randi offers $1,000,000?
@Sophie0257 Randi does real tests. The frauds would have to actually have the power they claim in order to pass. They have a lot better odds with TV producers who are only interested in ratings.
i had my first psychic experience by dreaming tsunamies like 5 yrs ago, also my grandparents contact me in my sleep. i keep dreaming when someone is dying i dont know who or when exactly but i know its like a baby in a certain family or a suicide its always people i do not know directly strange innit! why?
Typical American bullshit .... taking advantage of a gullible populace for financial gain ... @tellnet Im a yankee haha, and I do agree with you it is sad how gullible people are. But it is not limited to America. Check out any of the James Randi Psychic Investigator episodes. Many of them are European. The audacity to take advantage of people has no limitations or exclusivity to any nationality.
My apologies if I have been overly critical of American morality.
You are correct - un-ethical, immoral and illegal behaviour is not confined to the good Auld US of A.
However, I am fiiled with an anger-full of disgust (disbelief almost) when I observe such atrocious and blatantly immorally and dangerous "business" etiquette that permits the sale of 50c pieces of plastic for $40,000.00 - as bomb detectors - ONLY in America is such considerted acceptable.
Yes funny how none of these 'psychic's' are not rolling in money - having 'predicted' the Lotto numbers - or picked the winning horse - or put their money on the right number at the Casino. Gosh - funny that! Oh, and funny how not one person since it's started has passed The Amazing Randi's test - the prize is a million dollars - yet NO ONE has passed it. And shonks like John Edwards and that Sylvia chick have never tried it! Funny that!
Yes, very funny. Hilarious, in fact. They often make excuses like "oh, I don't want the money" or "it would be abusing God's gift" or some bullshit like that (because they TOTALLY do psychic readings for free, right?). Okay, you're not interested in the money? Fine! Donate it to charity! There are thousands of starving children who would love some financial support. But will they do that? Hell no. And with good reason. They can't.
Could not agree more - if they are 'not in it for the money' - why not get the money with their 'amazing skills' and donate it to the kids in Africa or to a baby orphanage in Ukraine????? Funny that! Get's me so angry people STILL ...in this suposed advanced state of mankind - believe in this shit! When are we all on mass going to wake up? Oh, you rock by the way!
Gets me angry too. Not the fact that people believe silly things so much as the outright exploitation of money and suffering these "people" commit. And yet the skeptics are made out to be cynical nay-sayers just for trying to get these people debunked. These fraudsters play the sympathy card and make us out to be criticising bullies. Very annoying.
I still get confused why people believe this stuff to be honest, but I know people are scared and unsure so makes sense I guess. Yes funny how us whom doubt these types of shonks get ragged on. It's in human nature to 'ask why'. If we never asked why or explored more we would still be smacking each other in the head with rocks!
Haha - well keep up the rocking. I try to rock at least once on a Saturday and every leap year.
I'm not afraid - but are you? Death is scary as in it's forever - that is what scares people. Plus there is something inside all of us that makes us think we are 'more special' than anyone else! Guess what - we are not - and death is death. To me it's a good thing - live life! No better message than to go out, enjoy what you are doing, embrace life and be happy and fantastic! How better message is there!?
all the starving african children are really 'enjoying' life i would assum then, too, right? the energy in living beings can't simply go away, it's transported somewhere else. i'm not saying there's pearly gates and everyone lives on clouds, but you really believe in nothing when you die? i don't spend my life preparing for dying, but to not believe in an afterlife is just unrealistic.
@silverburzt ::: Too much evidence for an afterlife: psychic contacts, ghosts, seances, NDEs, EVPs. There is something there. Now go find out what it is.
Unfortunately people like you are one in a million hon! Yes I do not 'believe' in it - but if you offer that service to people for no money - then you are a good person in my eyes. But you must admit - there are more swindlers out there and people overall doing this kind of stuff for their own profit. Tis an industry ripe for money making. Yes I do not believe anyone has 'the power' or ever has or ever will - but if what you say is true then I belive you are a good person.
I'm not going to dignify the "duty" comment. It's a rude shove in an otherwise interesting discussion.
Again, The videos very clearly show Jackie giving an accurate reading of crime scenes. I'm sure the private investigator present could be contacted to verify, if you were interested.
Simple challenge, off you, take it away oh mighty psychic ones.
Psychics and mediums and such are all fake, if you wish to dispute that feel free to answer my simple challenge.
I shouldn't have asked the question really, if you really are psychic you would have known I was about to ask it and I would have been confronted with the answer before I asked.
Simple common sense prevails every time on this sort of rubbish.

Visions are purely subjective, they can change at any moment, no psychic will always no their own fate and will always be accurate on a prediction. If the path changes so does it's future. Common people use common sense.
Psychic ability is not supposed to be challenged..either you believe or you don't.. If God himself walked up to James Randi he would debunk it..he is a negative person who cannot believe in anything unless he can see it.. I don't need anyone to tell me what to think..I don't have a Kool-Aide addiction.. I think for myself..and if I believe something how is it anyone elses buisness?
"I think for myself..and if I believe something how is it anyone elses buisness?" You are so right. If I believe the world is flat...it is certainly none of your business.....but it does not make it true.
"Psychic ability is not supposed to be challenged..either you believe or you don't" ????? Our existence depends on challenging everything aound us. Where would we be now if we had not challenged anything. Psychics do not enjoy special status. What a sad attitude to take on life!
I think psychic ability can be challenged - it's good for people wanting to authenticate. However, I see what you're saying. James Randi is like a black hole or a black void that he puts out there - he is open only to people who fit in his box. That's his thing.
I see how you're making the point that what people want to believe, they will. So challenging or not, the point is the belief. For people who don't need to believe either way, I think a challenge is fine.
there's still no evidence of CONSISTENT foretelling or accurate reads without many many errors along the way.
i had a dream about a new virus strain breaking out in the US about 5 months ago, then swine flu hit a few weeks later.
random chance is my assertion. James Randi sets up testable, fair, and open ways for "paranormal" or "supernatural" talents to be documented and nothing has come through.
but as time has proven, no concrete evidence has ever been found. just flukes.
That's really interesting. It sounds like you had an intuitive moment, but want/need hard proof via the scientific method to secure your experience. I don't think intuition is out of this realm, so fluke or intuition, either way it's the same thing.
I'm not weighing my response on anyone gaining from having an intuitive moment, because I think we all do. Rather, the result is the same - spontaneous flashes of intuition; fluke, coincidence, precognition. Just like joy spontaneously overtakes.
You can't scientifically measure love, or joy or spontaneity - there are somethings that can't be quantified, by our scientific system, that have specific physical results.
Jackie Barrett is pretty damn consistent and pretty damn accurate when it comes to reading crime scenes. So, I'd check her out.
yes that's true, we can't measure everything. but we sure can measure accuracy.
no police department in the United States will vouch for turning to the aid of a psychic on a cold case, and when law enforcement personnel are asked to answer to questions based on the validity of psychics leading them out of a dead end, they never show up.
show me an active officer in law enforcement that can and will vouch that the psychic could not have had any prior knowledge and gave them a specific lead.
Yes, we can measure accuracy, that's true. There are forms of science - relativity, quantum physics, quantum mechanics - whose rules and properties are still being understood. Intuition is perhaps another example of science not yet being present to understand it. The videos very clearly show Jackie giving an accurate reading of crime scenes. I'm sure the private investigator present could be contacted to verify, if you were interested.
Vetted psychics assist in cases. Unfortunately, police are wont to vouch for them due to the stigma. So really, we don't know how many psychics have assisted, because police aren't eager to share.
I think there's room for skepticism, and criticism, as well as recognizing evidence when it's present. Psychic ability - It's just another kind of human trait.
no, it's not a human trait. it's a myth. nothing more or less.
it just simply isn't there.
i never understand why it's so difficult for humans to just accept the way things are biologically. why do people struggle so hard to create these things that are nonsense?
entertainment?
if psychic ability was a genetic trait, we could find it's marker in someone's DNA, but alas, not even a shred of concrete evidence.
haha, that's funny. People see dead folks, and have psychic experiences....and that is the way things are. So you could ask why others struggle so hard to ignore it, suppress it, or in other ways dismiss. Just because you don't experience it...doesn't mean it doesn't happen. The scientific method isn't the only viable measuring factor.
yes "people see dead folks" and they belong in A) a mental institution, B) jail if they're profiting from it, or Z) in a science fiction novel.
the scientific method is the only -proven- measuring factor.
yo can't even prove psychic abilities exist, so why are you trying so hard to tell someone? why don't you go out there and bring these people to the public eye. prove us all wrong! don't you feel that it's kind of your duty yo enlighten us all? please, i'm serious.
Think of how many dead people there are.. If they can see dead people then they shouldnt be allowed to drive a car, fly a plane, operate on someone. Anything that would require you to be normal, the dead would be constantly bugging them.
Why are people that say they see and talk to imaginary people locked up? Why are people with multiple personality disorder considered crazy? Who knows, maybe they have two souls in one body...hahahaha
That's not true, though. From my and other people's experiences, you have an on/off switch. Just like people tune out their mothers when they're watching tv. We've all had intuitive moments, where we know when the phone rings, it's going to be your friend from gradeschool you haven't heard from for years. When this guy I know used to call me at work, I always knew it was him before I picked up the phone. And I never thought it was him, when it wasn't. I don't claim to commune with the dead,
And really, when it comes to baselines, medical staff JUST put out the symptoms for heart attacks for women, which are much different from men, about 10 years ago. Normal symptoms for women are different than normal symptoms for men. Normal isn't just one group's experience. It's totally normal that my grandma would call and say so and so just died, I saw him in the hall, and an hour later, she'd get a call from so and so's wife saying he died.
Just stop. Everyone has moments where it seems like they can predict events. these emotions or feelings can be attached to a situation in millions of ways. It happens to everyone, but only self absorbed people assume there special, or think they have some kind of power. Your connections are more ambiguous than they seem. Try thinking outside the box instead of masturbating your ego.
I think that's silly. It's clear some people can discern info about people, events and places they aren't around or have no prior knowledge of. It's unreasonable to ignore the evidence - take a look at Jackie's skill at crime scenes, or Lynn's. We all have flashes where we know an old friend will call and two minutes later, they do. We all have intuition. Its' a natural skill. Some people have further developed the natural skill. That's all.
... I don't know any skeptics who secretly use psychics. If a skeptic uses a psychic he does so publicly in a controlled environment in which case the psychic either completely bombs or performs not far from chance.
Catrambi You know the Psychic twins predicted the 9/11 attacks to the date, but noone took the precautionary steps to avoid that, Oh and 100% of their predictions have came true. They are real, they will disprove any skeptics, James Randi hasen't personally asked them, wonder why? is he too busy debunking sylvia browne?
You moron. 100%? Really? That's an obvious lie, and it's a claim that almost all "psychics" make.
Well, James Randi doesn't make a habit of ASKING people to take the challenge. It's open for all who have already had minor fame. What's these twins' excuse for not grabbing the money?
What a ridiculous video. That woman who claims she predicted the tsunami with the words "on December 26 at 10 AM in Thailand there's gonna be a tsunami" just makes me sick. She knew of the tsunami and didn't warn us? What a jerk. Also, if she really was psychic, and actually had predicted the tsunami, she wouldn't have said "in Thailand", since other countries also were affected by the tsunami, some even worse than Thailand was. She should be behind bars.
That's an incredibly weak excuse. At least she would be able to prove, after the tsunami, that she actually predicted it, right? Anyone who believes the ridiculous claim she made in this video should seek professional help. I stand by my opinion that she should be locked up indefinitely for her outrageous and insensitive lie in this video.
catrambi - let's say YOU had the vision of the tsunami. WHO are you going to tell? WHO is going to believe you? Indonesians would dismiss you as a messenger of the devil. The internet community would dismiss you as a crackpot! Scientists would reason you had a 1 in 14 million chance of guessing! So you can see why she wouldn't have said anything to the media or the world in general! No one would believe her - or YOU for that matter!
If someone had given a specific date for something as unlikely as a massive tsunami, I would of course be skeptical of that claim. But if it that unlikely prediction had come true I would be very impressed. Of course I wouldn't believe her, but after the fact it would have been obvious that I was wrong. So what's your point? You're just posting a simple excuse for her lying about a prediction that nobody ever heard.
fuck this show

I think there's room for skepticism, and criticism, as well as recognizing evidence when it's present. Psychic ability - It's just another kind of human trait.
alulu8 2 years ago
no, it's not a human trait. it's a myth. nothing more or less.
it just simply isn't there.
i never understand why it's so difficult for humans to just accept the way things are biologically. why do people struggle so hard to create these things that are nonsense?
entertainment?
if psychic ability was a genetic trait, we could find it's marker in someone's DNA, but alas, not even a shred of concrete evidence.
visualkei72 2 years ago
haha, that's funny. People see dead folks, and have psychic experiences....and that is the way things are. So you could ask why others struggle so hard to ignore it, suppress it, or in other ways dismiss. Just because you don't experience it...doesn't mean it doesn't happen. The scientific method isn't the only viable measuring factor.
alulu8 2 years ago
@alulu8
yes "people see dead folks" and they belong in A) a mental institution, B) jail if they're profiting from it, or Z) in a science fiction novel.
the scientific method is the only -proven- measuring factor.
yo can't even prove psychic abilities exist, so why are you trying so hard to tell someone? why don't you go out there and bring these people to the public eye. prove us all wrong! don't you feel that it's kind of your duty yo enlighten us all? please, i'm serious.
visualkei72 2 years ago
No, it isn't. Do you measure joy scientifically?
Do you measure the capacity for love scientifically? You don't.
I think the psychic challenge is in you all seeing without prejudice.
alulu8 2 years ago
But scientists do measure both joy and the capacity for joy. Is that what your arguing? That they dont?
Because they do...
Martial024 2 years ago
Why do you think people who see the dead are crazy? I, too, am serious.
alulu8 2 years ago
Because they are.
Na, I think they're just crazy.
Martial024 2 years ago
That's not true, though. From my and other people's experiences, you have an on/off switch. Just like people tune out their mothers when they're watching tv. We've all had intuitive moments, where we know when the phone rings, it's going to be your friend from gradeschool you haven't heard from for years. When this guy I know used to call me at work, I always knew it was him before I picked up the phone. And I never thought it was him, when it wasn't. I don't claim to commune with the dead,
alulu8 2 years ago
on a regular basis. I've gotten flashes, when people's loved ones were around, to give them a message or I'd randomly hear their voice.
It's not constant. You can turn it off if you want, just like people tune out their mom, or become hard-hearted, or become nicer, etc.
Crazy is a dismissive word. Your experiences aren't the norm, so it's limiting to assume you are the baseline.
Intuition and psychic ability isn't about a crystal ball, or having all the answers...that's the carnival port
alulu8 2 years ago
rayal.
Baselines are different.
alulu8 2 years ago
People may be genuinely gone, but not everyone who hears voices is crazy, and not everyone who is crazy is intuitive/psychic.
alulu8 2 years ago
You should probably look into the Jackie Barrett claims more. The FBI or any other police force have always said they've never used her.
She also never took the million dollar challenge, refused it many times.
sk8ram 2 years ago
GreatLandStander 2 years ago 2
I think that's silly. It's clear some people can discern info about people, events and places they aren't around or have no prior knowledge of. It's unreasonable to ignore the evidence - take a look at Jackie's skill at crime scenes, or Lynn's. We all have flashes where we know an old friend will call and two minutes later, they do. We all have intuition. Its' a natural skill. Some people have further developed the natural skill. That's all.
alulu8 2 years ago

They are real, they will disprove any skeptics, James Randi hasen't personally asked them, wonder why? is he too busy debunking sylvia browne?
foundoutthat 2 years ago
Dumbass, they would never show on TV their predictions that came wrong. And they would never come up front about being wrong.
Open your fucking eyes.
KAKASAN 2 years ago
You moron. 100%?

Catrambi 3 years ago
well would anyone believe her? what evidence does she have? no one will believe if she says "im psychic"
Aersis32 3 years ago 11
That's an incredibly weak excuse. At least she would be able to prove, after the tsunami, that she actually predicted it, right? Anyone who believes the ridiculous claim she made in this video should seek professional help. I stand by my opinion that she should be locked up indefinitely for her outrageous and insensitive lie in this video.
Catrambi 3 years ago 2
catrambi - let's say YOU had the vision of the tsunami.
MelaMan 3 years ago
If someone had given a specific date for something as unlikely as a massive tsunami, I would of course be skeptical of that claim. But if it that unlikely prediction had come true I would be very impressed. Of course I wouldn't believe her, but after the fact it would have been obvious that I was wrong. So what's your point? You're just posting a simple excuse for her lying about a prediction that nobody ever heard.
Catrambi 3 years ago
No, don't forget those two people she told that never said anything either. They heard it.
KAKASAN 2 years ago
Pfft. So they're obviously lying. The only alternative: they're sociopaths, since none of them tried to warn anybody.
Catrambi 2 years ago
Dude, I have no idea how I failed to see the sarcasm in your comment three months ago. Sorry about that. :p

@Aersis32 just the fact that she's a woman and u can see from the show 80% of psychic are women, so the popular belief is.
