Great car! Although spinning tires and driving recklessly on a public road is NOT good publicity for Fidanza, and IMHO not the best way of exhibiting Fidanza's engineering prowess. Why not go to a racetrack and show footage of it out-pacing a Formula Vee car?
As fidanza1 said you will make more power that an engine with no turbo obviously, you just won't make nearly as much as you would if the turbo was closer to the engine. The benefits are a cool engine bay and packaging, and if that's what you value the STS system is right up your alley. I'd be hesitant to chop into a new Z06, I can hardly blame you for taking the easy/less effective way out.
I don't mean to degrade an awesome car, I just want people to understand the trade off they're making.
Allow me to be more precise. The cooling between the turbo and the intake is a Good Thing (temperature down, density and hence power up) However, the cooling between the exhaust port and the turbo is a Bad Thing. As the exhaust cools, it looses energy (temperature is the most important form of energy in the exhaust gas) and energy is what drives the turbo. So the energy you are radiating off the tube between the engine and the turbo is energy that is not driving the turbo.
I think another advantage of such a system is much improved weight distribution; turbochargers are relatively heavy and it makes sense to put them close to the drive wheels.
And with a good thermal coating on all the exhaust pipes it shouldn't lose too much efficiency.
damn thats a Z0Sick! i never prefered the sound of turbos to a blower but yours sound real nice! probably cuz you have a nice mean exhaust to acompany the turbo hiss, instead of some weed eater noise you get from an evo or something. sweet vette though. and nicholas if you have such a bad ride then race his vette. whatever you drive i bet his vette will eat you for lunch and ask for seconds.
Check the STS website. The turbos are mounted where the mufflers used to be, so in a sense the car is running straight pipes and that wonderful sound comes from an undiluted V8.
Some specs, every ten degree drop of intake air temp is 1% increase in hp, return air drops 100deg on the sts kit due to rear mount return air tubes cooling the intake charge prior to any intercooler. On a 550hp stock kit/block at only 8psi 10% that work out to be a 55hp gain.

Just imagine how fast it would be if the turbos were near the engine instead of dumping heat out of 40 feet of tubing...

having turbos in the rear gave us 50 more hp with the temp drop, do your homework then visit sts and then change your comment :)
