  • A 13 year old good luck wit dat

  • small dogz rock at agility!!!! i have a black pomeranian!!!!!

  • i know this makes me sound really stupid, but i am teaching my dog agility. he is a mini aussie. I was reading online and on the offical australian shepherd society website it says mini or toy aussies cant be registered. so what agility trials can they be registered in? and will it be big dog or small dog?

  • @Bella24745 You can register in any venue except AKC. American Kennel Club requires the dogs to be one of the identified breeds, and a mini Aussie is not one.

Check out NADAC, UKC, and USDAA. These clubs also allow mixed breed dogs.

  • ok thanks!

  • @allearsagility I am sorry you are WRONG! AKC does not require a dog in anything other then confirmation to be one of the identified breeds! As long as the dog is healthy and can show vaccinations then it is elligible. I do think that AKC does require some obedience before agility but thats just common sense as well!

  • @woobie171 The AKC just changed its legislation regarding mixed breeds and unregistered dogs in April 2010. After I posted the comment. I apologize for not updating my response. I have a mixed breed dog that I'm training for agility, we will be competing in NADAC and AKC. I agree that it's common sense to have obedience as well as agility training before entering a competition.

  • @Bella24745 If you are still interested in agility, AKC now allows mixed breeds and non registered breeds to compete.

  • I love the Papillons! I had hoped that my little Papillon would do agility, but, with him already being 2 years old, I think I'll give up all hope.

  • Hi SmartyJones93,

My dog didn't start agility until he was 2 years old and after only a few months of training, he won his first competition. He absolutely loves it!

Don't be afraid to start because your dog is 2 year old, if you want to do it, go ahead! :)

  • @SmartyJones93 my dog is 11 and he does some agility, alot of dogs start at 5 yrs

  • Did anyone else think that female announcer was full of crap when she mentioned that it was all verbal signals and not body language that got KC through the box section? Awesome dogs, clueless commentary!

  • yeah i think shes full of crap its both verbal and body language

  • @loralei913 its both verbal and body language. my dog responds to body language better.
