Great editing! God I love this movie so much, still makes me cry to this day...even just those little parts like when they hold hands and look into each others' eyes before they make love, and when they meet in heaven; still stirs such strong emotions in me-it reminds me of my own love. <3 One reason (of many) that we love this movie is because we all want the Jack & Rose kind of love. :') I can't wait to see it in 3D.

I love your ending! But I think the movie would not have been as good with a "happy" ending like this. Jack lives on in Rose and she has a full, happy life because of him. She makes her life count by setting herself free after surviving this tragedy. Rose also represents many of the survivors who lost someone they loved and needed and had to go forward alone, which feels more true to the actual history.

I saw this movie in the theater with my girlfriend, we were both in 7th-Grade at the time (early 1998, I think)....& I had the same thought THEN that I do now...the way Rose gets the boat's attention...that guy's whistle. As much as I'd love it if this happened, I think the reason Titanic is so popular and people love it so much is because of the unconditional, impossible love. If Jack HAD have survived, what was the point in the film? It'd be too predictable, and we wouldn't really feel as many emotions. We'd be relieved, but this one mixes a ray of them. You just don't expect it and that's what makes it so extraordinary. I cry for hours straight at this film, it's got to be one of my favourites. :')) <3

I think it was best they cut Jack from the film... Notice the transition and effect of the music brought to viewers, when compared to the original music used at the climax of the film. I feel the melancholy of the crisis is much more appreciated by the audience in the original cut, with respect to the music chosen to demonstrate this.

In my personal opinion, Titanic wouldn't be as meaningful if Jack had lived. Rose accomplished everything in her life because of her promise to Jack and reunited with him in the end. It's perfect the way it already is. No alternate ending will ever change my opinion of the movie.

I think if he'd not died, any time Rose had been miserable, she'd always go to Jack for comfort and not get the true meaning of his message. So yeah...

I have to say that Cameron did a great job at portraying the meaning of love in the movie. My dad told me that true love means you'll do anything for someone (I'm 14 and I just don't understand love lol). And from the time Jack died until the time Rose died, she kept her promise. Never faltered, but kept her promise to live for Jack. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like most people miss that message nowadays. People say the love story wasn't needed. But I think it was.
