    Karmapa chenno!

  • karmapa chenno! beautiful song kunga!

  • Beautiful song!

  • if you really wants to find the truth, you;'re free to visit the Tibetan refugee settlements in india and you would witness the 1srt hand experience of ordinary Tibetans have suffered under chinese rule, china may have liberated Tibet but that does not mean Chinese can stay and colonise Tibet.Japanese have the same notion when they came to china because they thought they were liberating the chinese from imperialist countries,,,

  • Sorry jmlee369, but there is no evidence to support the Dalia's claim of a devastating ethnic cleansing genocide having taken place.

Also the population increase of a people in exile over a 50 year time period has no bearing on the issue either.

  • Do you consider all those people at Amnesty International and the various other human right's agencies to be fools? I am not taking the word's of the Dalai Lama, I am taking the words of reputable, international organisations. How do you think it was possible for the Ganden Phodrang to possibly have a census? That is an impossible task considering the lack of political structure in the various regions.

  • dear jmlee: of course I do not consider these people to be fools. They just don't have any evidence. Best wishes for Christmas, and all wishes for peace for your people.

  • I'm Korean. As I was saying, why would those organisations make such claims without evidence? Tell that there is no such breach of human rights to the innocent of Drapchi, to Palden Gyatso and all those who suffered. I don't want to leave this with a negative note but please consider these people's suffering. My lama's suffering. The suffering that my lama's mother suffered.

  • I am in agreement that the Chinese have committed violent excesses in Tibet, and human rights have been violated, especially during the cultural revolution. My point has always has been that the Dalai Lama grossly exaggerated the notion of an ethnic cleansing genocide to further his own political objectives. I am sorry for the suffering you describe.

  • When did the Dalai Lama ever put an exact figure on this tradgedy? I have always heard what other reputable sources have stated.

  • Dear jmlee369:

the original source of this number was from the Dalai's brother, Tendzin Choegyal, "The Truth about Tibet," Imprimis (publication of Hillsdale College, Michigan), April 1999.

Since then, the number has been repeated ad nauseam by reputable sources as actual fact. It is a claim that has never been supported by any evidence whatsoever and is pure political propoganda.

  • When they say Chinese occupation, it includes the period of the Cultural Revolution as well. That had disastrous consequences for both Chinese and Tibetans.

  • agreed and....

  • That's right. The 1.2 MILLION people KILLED by the Chinese in Tibet were all "liberated".

  • The charges made by the Dalai Lama himself about Chinese mass sterilization and forced deportation of Tibetans have remained unsupported by any evidence. Both the Dalai Lama and his advisor and youngest brother, Tendzin Choegyal, claimed that "more than 1.2 million Tibetans are dead as a result of the Chinese occupation." The official 1953 census -- six years before the Chinese crackdown -- recorded the entire population of Tibet at 1,274,000.

  • meangreenmeme

Do think forced sterilisation does not happen in Tibet ???

  • This is a claim made by the Dalai Lama and his brother, and is unsupported by the evidence. The official 1953 census, six years before the Chinese crackdown, recorded the entire population of Tibet at 1,274,000. Almost all of Tibet, would have been depopulated, transformed into a killing field dotted with death camps and mass graves, of which there is no evidence. The Dalai lies.

  • Take into account that the Chinese do not consider Amdo or Kham to be part of the Autonomous Region of Tibet. Amdo is Qinghai whereas Kham is separated into Autonomous Prefecturs in Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan. These are the most densly populated areas. Those from Amdo and Kham are quite clearly ethnic Tibetans. Also consider that more than 130000 Tibetans are in exile.

  • The national census of 1953 of the Tibetan population was based on estimates of the local government of Tibet then under the leadership of the 14th Dalai Lama!

The Diaspora of ethnic Tibetans throughout China has occurred over many centuries. Only one half of all ethnic Tibetans actually lived in Tibet at the time of the census.

  • this guy has an awesome voice. bravo, great tribute too!

  • Kunga-la,

    You are a true Tibetan.

    I love ya!!!!

  • nice nice nice i like alot

  • I can't help. This looks so weird and absurd... Tibet as an occupied and very poor country produces songs. Pop songs. Pop songs which are performed by guys who look like guys from western beauty-magazines. xD

no comment to religious things, although I'm also a Karma Kagyu Buddhist.

  • Criticising Tibetans for their dress and appearance is like criticising prisoners in a prison for the clothes they wear. Everything Tibetans do is strictly controlled by their captors, the Chinese.

  • You Western still have the mythos of Tibet as a Buddhist you should know that everything is impermanent.

  • Wow in Tibet... ther`s also Gay Boys hehehehe

  • Wow That guy looks like a Chinese note tibetan

  • kunga is simply the best singer.. :) with the best voice too ofcourse.. and the BEST LOOKS! :)

  • hai kunga,u got such a nice voice and i like ur songs too but please stop wearing animals skins.Cos HH The Dalailama always saying that stop selling and wearing animals skin.

  • A great song I love it

  • Gyalwa Ugyen Thinley rocks! The other Karmapa is a laughing stock! I bet his Western supporters also laugh at him! Imagine that!

  • Please be objective and try to look through different perspectives. Do you think the other Karmapa proclaimed himself as the reincarnation of the 17th Karmapa. He is not to be blamed.

  • Yes. He did. Did you not listen to his interviews with some westerner on youtube?

  • tenbhu.. very good job with the translation.. i jus love kunga.. he rocks ahha!

    KAMRAPA CHENNO!!!

  • Something our fellow Tibetans should take note as we really don't want to dilute our His Holiness title and I know 99% of the Tibetans know that His Holiness should be only to our beloved leader Dalai Lama. Western buddhists especially sectarian have their own motives which we don't need to follow. I do admire Gyalwa Karmapa greatly, along with Panchen Rinpoche from Tibet who have done so much for Tibet that Tibetans are forever grateful.

  • I really like your comment. The course of the event in history cannot be predicted. At the moment the unity and integrity is more important than all these sectarian sentiment. First we need to work hard to achieve our collective goal of achieving independence and the preservation of our culture.

  • Another point I wanted to raise is why is there so many 'His Holiness' titles in our relatively small 6-7 million Tibetan buddhists. Eg. 700 million Catholic have only one His Holiness pope. Similarly Tibetans should have one His Holiness title reserved to the leader of Tibetan Buddhists and Tibet, the Dalai Lama. The others have their respective proper titles such as Gyalwa Karmapa, Ganden Tripa, Sakya Trizen.

  • H.H. for those who have achieved states of great liberation, enlightenment, and reincarnate for the benefit of all people... the Dalai Lama is the root lama of the Gelupka lineage, the king of tibet because of his political life.

  • Gelupkas gained political power in Tibet when the Dalai Lama invited the Mongols to kill all the Kagyupas, etc and turned the monastaries into Gelupga monastaries. The Karmapa lineage precedes the Dalai Lama lineage by 300 years.

  • You are sick. Don't try to bring such illwill. Reflect on your ignorance and try to be well informed before you pass such an ill conceived judgement. I am sure nobody will contradict your claim that Karmapa lineage precede the Dalai Lama. The question here is not the length of the lineage, but the kind of leadership one renders. Try to have some feeling of gratitude, if you are a Tibetan. If not , then shut your mouth. Your motive of creating disharmony will go in vain. SO stop bullshitting.

  • No illwill, simply clear statement of fact. If you look at the kind of leadership as you wish to, one lineage leader minds his own business, and another tries to control everyone else's business.

  • It is simply not proper for the Dalai Lama's recognition to have authority over Sharmapa's recognition. A conflict of recognition should be settled within the Karma Kagyu lineage, in the best of circumstances between the two candidates themselves.

  • zoltankodaly, whoever you are: Tibetans no longer caste the issue of H. H. Karmapa in your light. The karmapa can assume many emanations of body, speech and mind. But there can be only one Karmapa to be on the conventional throne. Tibetans love and revere both Karmapas in their respective context. and its time to move on....

  • dude, this is the real karmapa.. the other one is sooo fake.. he cant even answer the things he should know as the 16th "KARMAPA".. ppsshh what sharmapa says.. LONG LIVE THE REAL KARMAPA which is the one here! KARMAPA KHENNOO!!

  • Khando3 comments hit it on the nail as she mentioned it's directed to the Tibetans and person like ZoltanKodaly, a western sectarian, who appears to be Ola Nydahl's student don't mean a thing. Please pass it on to him during your conference in Spain next week.

  • As His Holiness the Dalai Lama has rightly said without freedom in Tibet, Tibetan Buddhism will not survive in-exile. So for geniune Dharma practioner, it is in the interest of Dharma to work towards the Tibetan cause under the leadership of HH Dalai Lama.

  • Buddhism belongs to no one culture, it moved from india though china and japan, tibet, korea, taiwan, afghanistan, etc. If buddhism is to survive, it will not have a nation or culture's brand on it. Bodhicitta has no culture or ethnicity. The dharma has no home. A buddha is not bound by such ridiculous meaningless ideas. That being said, Tibet must be free of Chinese incursion because the incursion is unjust.

  • I want to thank ZoltanKodaly for his last sentence supporting free Tibet which is what's important to me and majority of the Tibetans. This discussion with over-zealous followers and also the current conflicts in the world caused mostly by islamist and evangelists proves my firm belief that future Tibet must be secular and democratic. Continue ...

  • And I absolutely see no role for religion in the governance of future Tibet or even in schools which I admire in the western democratic system. All the religious leaders will become just that religious and religion becomes a personal matter not to be politisize. I emphasize secular and democratic Tibet with religious freedom. Ironically secular it is now under the Chinese rule ...

  • Phrases such as 'western sectarian' work with extreme effectiveness to show your wonderful attitude of unity, and non-sectarian mindset. It is clear that by labeling me as a student of a Lama whom you probably don't agree with, and would be sectarian against that I am speaking to many walls without ears.

  • Others, such as Gyalwa Karmapa spent their lives on what they were best at- meditating. They are leaders of other lineages, as there are different approaches presented in the buddhism for people with different learning styles.

  • These comments I posted I feel a little sticky about. In a period without meditiation, but reviving interest I went on a youtube video search. Whatever Lama you feel affinity to is valid through your devotion. Your perception of the Lama as a Buddha will bring you great blessing. Old dirt should not have been dug up. I have a narrow view, and do not understand everything. I am no Buddha. Please forgive my ill concieved posts.

  • Great song from Tibet on Gyalwa Karmapa. Tibetans all over especially in Tibet believe in His Holiness Dalai Lama's recognized Karmapa. He will become a great teacher and a leader to the Tibetan people that we can be proud of. So far Gyalwa Karmapa is destined to become big.

  • thanks kunga for singing such a grest song!

  • thanks very much tenbhu la for translating this beautiful song to us .

    1. Oh marvelous Karmapa, marvelous!

    Your invincibile courage

Causes acute pain in the frontier forces!

    Upon this golden earth,

YOu left footfprints that can never be erased!

  • Here is the translation of Kunga's song dedicated to H.H. karmapa:

  • You expressed the devotion we tibetans have towards our Lamas, that passion that burns within us for freedom and above all, we hear your daring courage in the face of overwhelming odds

  • Karmapa, His Holiness is the second symbol of Tibet, a sacred being that unites Tibetan and brings new world to the lives of Tibet. Thus, who is Karmapa is not important, what improtant is the existence of His being and contributions to the land of snow.

  • lamas, that passion that burns within us for freedom and above all, we hear your daring courage in the face of overwhelming odds...

  • Is this the lama that the chinese put in to the Tibetan culture?

  • The autentity of a lama will be revealed by his actions. So far Karmapa Urgyen Trinley wins hands down. Moreover, very recently, Shamarpha, the lama who has put Thaye Dorje as his candidate has sought and had an audience with Karmapa (Urgyen Thinley Dorjee) in New Delhi. Wonder what Shamar Rinpoche is upto now?

  • I say the same regarding His Holiness Karmapa Thaye Dorje.... may His life be long!!!!

  • I will be in Tsurphu often and appreciate your interest.
