Do you consider all those people at Amnesty International and the various other human right's agencies to be fools? I am not taking the word's of the Dalai Lama, I am taking the words of reputable, international organisations. How do you think it was possible for the Ganden Phodrang to possibly have a census? That is an impossible task considering the lack of political structure in the various regions.
dear jmlee: of course I do not consider these people to be fools. They just don't have any evidence. Best wishes for Christmas, and all wishes for peace for your people.
I'm Korean. As I was saying, why would those organisations make such claims without evidence? Tell that there is no such breach of human rights to the innocent of Drapchi, to Palden Gyatso and all those who suffered. I don't want to leave this with a negative note but please consider these people's suffering. My lama's suffering. The suffering that my lama's mother suffered.
I am in agreement that the Chinese have committed violent excesses in Tibet, and human rights have been violated, especially during the cultural revolution. My point has always has been that the Dalai Lama grossly exaggerated the notion of an ethnic cleansing genocide to further his own political objectives. I am sorry for the suffering you describe.
the original source of this number was from the Dalai's brother, Tendzin Choegyal, "The Truth about Tibet," Imprimis (publication of Hillsdale College, Michigan), April 1999.
Since then, the number has been repeated ad nauseam by reputable sources as actual fact. It is a claim that has never been supported by any evidence whatsoever and is pure political propoganda.
When they say Chinese occupation, it includes the period of the Cultural Revolution as well. That had disastrous consequences for both Chinese and Tibetans.

Thank you China for liberating Tibet from the feudal evil theocrats. The buddhist monks had serfs and slaves that they tortured if they did not obey them. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!
The charges made by the Dalai Lama himself about Chinese mass sterilization and forced deportation of Tibetans have remained unsupported by any evidence. Both the Dalai Lama and his advisor and youngest brother, Tendzin Choegyal, claimed that "more than 1.2 million Tibetans are dead as a result of the Chinese occupation." The official 1953 census -- six years before the Chinese crackdown -- recorded the entire population of Tibet at 1,274,000.
This is a claim made by the Dalai Lama and his brother, and is unsupported by the evidence. The official 1953 census, six years before the Chinese crackdown, recorded the entire population of Tibet at 1,274,000. Almost all of Tibet, would have been depopulated, transformed into a killing field dotted with death camps and mass graves, of which there is no evidence. The Dalai lies.
Take into account that the Chinese do not consider Amdo or Kham to be part of the Autonomous Region of Tibet. Amdo is Qinghai whereas Kham is separated into Autonomous Prefecturs in Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan. These are the most densly populated areas. Those from Amdo and Kham are quite clearly ethnic Tibetans. Also consider that more than 130000 Tibetans are in exile.
The national census of 1953 of the Tibetan population was based on estimates of the local government of Tibet then under the leadership of the 14th Dalai Lama!
The Diaspora of ethnic Tibetans throughout China has occurred over many centuries. Only one half of all ethnic Tibetans actually lived in Tibet at the time of the census.
I can't help. This looks so weird and absurd... Tibet as an occupied and very poor country produces songs. Pop songs. Pop songs which are performed by guys who look like guys from western beauty-magazines. xD
no comment to religious things, although I'm also a Karma Kagyu Buddhist.
Criticising Tibetans for their dress and appearance is like criticising prisoners in a prison for the clothes they wear. Everything Tibetans do is strictly controlled by their captors, the Chinese.
hai kunga,u got such a nice voice and i like ur songs too but please stop wearing animals skins.Cos HH The Dalailama always saying that stop selling and wearing animals skin.
Please be objective and try to look through different perspectives. Do you think the other Karmapa proclaimed himself as the reincarnation of the 17th Karmapa. He is not to be blamed.
Something our fellow Tibetans should take note as we really don't want to dilute our His Holiness title and I know 99% of the Tibetans know that His Holiness should be only to our beloved leader Dalai Lama. Western buddhists especially sectarian have their own motives which we don't need to follow. I do admire Gyalwa Karmapa greatly, along with Panchen Rinpoche from Tibet who have done so much for Tibet that Tibetans are forever grateful.
I really like your comment. The course of the event in history cannot be predicted. At the moment the unity and integrity is more important than all these sectarian sentiment. First we need to work hard to achieve our collective goal of achieving independence and the preservation of our culture.
Another point I wanted to raise is why is there so many 'His Holiness' titles in our relatively small 6-7 million Tibetan buddhists. Eg. 700 million Catholic have only one His Holiness pope. Similarly Tibetans should have one His Holiness title reserved to the leader of Tibetan Buddhists and Tibet, the Dalai Lama. The others have their respective proper titles such as Gyalwa Karmapa, Ganden Tripa, Sakya Trizen.
H.H. for those who have achieved states of great liberation, enlightenment, and reincarnate for the benefit of all people... the Dalai Lama is the root lama of the Gelupka lineage, the king of tibet because of his political life.
Gelupkas gained political power in Tibet when the Dalai Lama invited the Mongols to kill all the Kagyupas, etc and turned the monastaries into Gelupga monastaries. The Karmapa lineage precedes the Dalai Lama lineage by 300 years.
You are sick. Don't try to bring such illwill. Reflect on your ignorance and try to be well informed before you pass such an ill conceived judgement. I am sure nobody will contradict your claim that Karmapa lineage precede the Dalai Lama. The question here is not the length of the lineage, but the kind of leadership one renders. Try to have some feeling of gratitude, if you are a Tibetan. If not , then shut your mouth. Your motive of creating disharmony will go in vain. SO stop bullshitting.
No illwill, simply clear statement of fact. If you look at the kind of leadership as you wish to, one lineage leader minds his own business, and another tries to control everyone else's business.
It is simply not proper for the Dalai Lama's recognition to have authority over Sharmapa's recognition. A conflict of recognition should be settled within the Karma Kagyu lineage, in the best of circumstances between the two candidates themselves.
zoltankodaly, whoever you are: Tibetans no longer caste the issue of H. H. Karmapa in your light. The karmapa can assume many emanations of body, speech and mind. But there can be only one Karmapa to be on the conventional throne. Tibetans love and revere both Karmapas in their respective context. and its time to move on....

Sorry jmlee369, but there is no evidence to support the Dalia's claim of a devastating ethnic cleansing genocide having taken place.
Also the population increase of a people in exile over a 50 year time period has no bearing on the issue either.

I will be in Tsurphu often and appreciate your interest.
I am fundraising for Tsurphu projects in Arizona now, I'll return to Thailand soon where my base is. I am making a film of Tsurphu and oiur work there hoping to complete it this year. Hoping to meet His family, or have news soon.
Thanks

Good song and decent video, thanks.
Those of us fortunate enough to stand in HH Karmapa's
presence and blessed enough to look in His eyes have no doubt about His identity!
My thanks also to NewGenerationTB for the translation (it's a great help to Tibetan-challenged folks like me)!

NewGenerationTB, you could put Kunga in trouble. You know Chinese visit this site? Some Chinese might want to take issue with what he is singing about, although not all Chinese will do so. It is not worth putting a great singer and patriot like Kunga in trouble, is it?
