@babygilbert0 i know your comment may be a bit old, but i was wondering how you feel/felt about the whole Steev Mike thing. about that whole "scandal" that was hyped up about the corporatized creation of "Andrew W.K."? i think regardless of any corporate interests there were, and the auditioning process to be "Andrew W.K.", the guy was very sincere and intelligent and had a message that was positive. i'd like to know what you think about it. :D

Andrew did a show in Lansing without the wig about 2 months ago. Check out the two videos of his performance in my videos.

He has a number of images on his main website of him without the wig and some of those he has his tan hat on that he got when he was in Westwood about 6 months or so ago.

one is his creation "andrew w.k." the guy who likes to wear white, has long hair, and wants to include everyone in the joy of his kick ass wild party. then there's andrew a dude who has musical talent who is still finding himself in regards to his learning and understanding of how the world works around him and how it uses him in it grand old design. this andrew has short hair occasionally and wears different clothes and tries things outside of the box.

. even though i am a fan, the problem i am having is that i don't understand why there are two andrews. i mean why can't he walk around with short hair instead of wearing wigs on stage? why does he insist on holding on to the old aesthetic when it is obvious that he is doing the music differently and has grown into a more mature person.

dude... what wig??? I think recently cut his hair, but I think his hair was naturally very long. That's just my assessment because seeing him shake his head so violently on stage, i doubt that is any wig. Artists have looks that are hard to deviate from. Fans are judgmental and changing a look can be detrimental to ones career.

He's built his image around this particular look (long dark hair, dirty white washed jeans, white shirt). I think it's genius: it's simple, straight to the point, and helps one focus on the music and not his attire or his look.

It's been a year since I wrote that, and I'm now more impressed with Andrew than I ever was before. With or without the attire, his shows are always amazing. He's a VERY versatile musician (ever heard him do classical and improv? quite impressive).

He does not need to say a word, yet he never fails to blow the audience away. I think that speaks louder than any wardrobe could.

If you look at any of his interviews, he doesn't seem (at least to me), that he's separating himself into two entities. It's just your own interpretation of what's going on. He seems to be finding himself just like everyone else should be doing, and he doesn't want his personal journey outside his music to heavily influence anyone else's.

andrew is on a journey but i dont understand why, when it is clear he is a different performer, he still tries to hold on to the same look. btw he does wear wigs and weaves his hair. his hair is actually very short. i dont know maybe he just likes short hair. i just think he should feel comforable enough to just be himself without the whole shick/gimmick/weave. i still love him though even though he confuses the hell outta me.
