The only issue that I have with Shenzhen is that there are too many people over there. The crowds can get crazy in Lao Jie. Immigration at the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Border can get crazy, especially for the mainland citizens. Dongmen can be a little dirty and there can be people on the street begging. Make sure you know Mandarin. Cantonese will not help you in Shenzhen. Only in Hong Kong will Cantonese will help you.

I have recently returned back from to the UK from Shenzhen. It is an amazing city which would give any western city a run for their money. One of the things i noticed was a total lack of crime. I would recommend going to shenzhen 100%.

China can be justifiably proud of the Shenzhen experiment--a city of rice paddies in 1980 that is now as modern and sophisticated as an East Asian boomtown. I hear it also has the biggest crime rate in China (and look at that traffic!), but that's the price of becoming a big modern city I guess! Wish I could go there...

shenzhen is a metropolitan. The new CBD is in the Futian area instead of the old town area Near DiWang Building in Luohu.

o yea, if u like shopping u shud go to east gate mall..ive been there for 1 week but was still nt enough to do all the shops. everythin is really cheap specially electronics and clothing but u shud bargain..
